  1. Time to blow the dust off this thread. The weather graphics are almost always the canary in the coal mine, the fist sign of changes. These debuted at 4pm, and they align with all new graphic teases I've seen, from the colors, to the font, to even the little arrows that appear in a few spots. Nice reminder: if anyone quotes this post, please remove the screenshots from the quotation box.

  2. Agreed. This station has always had one of the best graphics in this market, if not, the country, next to Hearst. The outgoing graphics were 7+ years old and they aged well.

  3. Wow. I'm in love! Some of the best weather graphics I've ever seen, anywhere.

  4. I don't know when, but there's no reason to believe that these graphics won't roll out to the whole group, but yes, it's just WLS, and just the weather package...for now. And here's their outgoing look. This is a complete overhaul.

  6. I believe there's a saying for this: "If it bleeds, it leads." The fact that it bled five hours ago is apparently immaterial.

  8. I’ll go as far as to say that the outgoing package looks better than some of the newer graphics packages being churned out by Gray and Nexstar. That said, the new Wx graphics look fantastic. If they are a harbinger for a group-wide package, that will be a welcome development, especially for WABC and other stations with aging/less than stellar graphics.

  10. Luckily as I scrolled down I saw from the map this is WLS in Chicago. Are only the weather graphics changed? Not knowing their current look, it is evolutionary or a major relaunch? I just switched to WABC and looks the same so far.

  11. Current 4p anchor Keith Garvin has been named main anchor at KPRC/Houston. He’s been with KPRC for 10 years and knows the market well. Keith will shift to the 5p, 6p and 10p shows, replacing Kris Gutierrez, who abruptly left a few months ago. No official word on who will take over at 4p, but I suspect current 11a and noon anchor Andy Cerota will add that show to his duties instead of reporting for the afternoon newscasts, like he does now. https://www.click2houston.com/news/local/2022/06/08/keith-garvin-named-anchor-of-kprc-2s-evening-and-late-newscasts/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=snd&utm_content=kprc2&fbclid=IwAR34kdsOEU0lwe-giDjxXQw1UE5th_-JOwP0KPiHbdztrZaVk53XSkAZGNs&fs=e&s=cl

  14. I’m surprised it supposedly isn’t COVID-related, given that the other anchors (at least from what I’ve seen) are distanced on the desk together, rather than being in separate studios.

  15. It’s a “stand alone mini studio at WABC”, according to Bill, who responded to someone on twitter asking about it.

  16. Yeah. That is all our faults right there with the “bleed it leads”

  17. It was totally that decision because police injuries to that station are what they seem to relish covering deeply the most.

  18. Allen Martin retires from KPIX. You’ll see some former co-anchors from the past at KPIX, KSBW and KFOR in this package. https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/kpix-5-anchor-and-reporter-allen-martin-set-to-retire/?fbclid=IwAR2gAMagVRxtftnq2y4tPkIqTdsgO6SVHkhXG7qs3V5BLP9hohifC0LI7xo#l44mfr3flnvzpl79798 also KGO did a farewell this morning to General Assignment Reporter Amy Hollyfield who is leaving after 21 years. She started off as a writer then becoming an on air GSA Reporter for ABC7 Mornings.

  20. Yeah it would really suck for Rob to not stick around. He’s a really good fit with the weekend and weekday crew.

  21. I saw this last night on a 10pm show, where a few other important stories which were developing were 'but first, breaking news!'ed for a minor car accident during a police chase...that happened at 5pm and was long cleaned up . If you as the viewer knows the other stories rundown deserved prominence, the news organization has failed to do its job. And highlight pieces from other reporters. I cannot stand only having a few on-camera reporters these days; it makes your organization look too insular and limiting.

  22. I like Jim Acosta but I think it's time for CNN to go back to the more straight news approach it had pre-Zucker. If Acosta does get fired, MSNBC might pick him up for a show.

  24. All the replies above this are spot on, couldn’t say it better. I think the gem of this article is: “As previously reported by The Post, O’Donnell’s predecessor Jeff Glor was making a modest $2 million.” So Jeff did it for $2M, they fired him, signed Norah for $8M for the same result, now have Norah at $3.8M. Seems like Jeff really got screwed.

  25. I guess when you have a penny-pinching, micro-managing boss, an alleged narcissist as your chief anchor, and friction between the two, that doesn’t translate to high ratings or a good product. The relationship between O’Donnell and CBS News seems to be a marriage of convenience, and a dysfunctional one at that.

  26. If CBS really considered putting Tony Dokoupil as the Evening News anchor, they're signaling that they never really do learn from their past mistakes.

  27. Paramount can deny it all they want but CBS was trying to replace Norah because Norah is terrible at doing the CBS Evening News. Ratings haven't been this bad since Dan Rather was at the network. Even Katie Couric had better ratings as the anchor then Norah has now. There is a reason why morale is at an all time low at CBS, it starts with Norah and ends with her too.

  28. That looks so generic that if feels like a 12 year-old Logopedia contributor made it for one of those fake TV station wikis in honor of the TV station serving their SimCity. Alas...it is real.

  29. Tomorrow marks 2 years since the passing of Dick Johnson. I was really sad when he passed as he was underrated and one of the best journalists I've seen. NBC5 should have given him top spot as he had great chemistry with everybody.
