  1. Yeah, I’m gonna have to disagree on this one. This package looks so cheap that it would actually be a downgrade from WAVY’s current package. If WRIC’s package debuted 9 years ago, it would still look dated. Hell, I’ll argue that WABC’s package from 2013 looks more modern than this 3D bathroom tile nightmare.

  2. Longtime WCAU assistant news director Kathy Gerrow is the new news director at CBS3. https://www.paramountpressexpress.com/cbs-news-and-stations/releases/?view=100531-kathleen-gerrow-named-vice-president-and-news-director-at-cbs-news-and-stations-philadelphia-properties

  3. Well, I guess recycling a graphics package from Richmond is better than having a station from Richmond produce your newscasts. (like WTVR did for WDCW under Tribune)... Still, shouldn't something in the nation's capitol be a little more original? But then again, this is Nexstar we're talking about.....

  4. Can't they just shorten the name to CBS (location) Now? It's much easier to say.

  6. They could've gone news and stopped the programming with the shooting in their own backyard even if it was just WGN in my opinion.

  7. In retrospect, the move to WCBS (which is where I remember her from growing up) might have been an attractive offer, but didn't have the best outcome. If Roz still had as much popularity at the time, it would seem like they'd put her on the critical 6 and 11 PM newscasts, but That's the nature of broadcasting. Stations are often ready to put the next new face in the chair. One can say the Liz Cho move paid off as she's still with the station almost 20 years later.

  8. NewsNation could’ve easily simulcasted WGN’s live coverage. WGN is one of the top news stations in the country, why not tap into that resource? MSNBC and NBC news now utilized WMAQ (NBC5) effectively. ABC News Had WLS’ (ABC7) coverage. CBS had WBBM (CBS2) Where was NN???? Granted it was July 4th & we realize that staffing numbers were low, but This story literally is in your backyard!! and you are still MIA as far as news coverage! NN the writing is on the wall…

  9. I will say the EWN team has been tributing him on Twitter and Facebook, but yes, the lack of an on-air tribute is disappointing. WCBS (and Dana Tyler) gave Michele Marsh one.

  13. It looks like some of his stuff was retained by folks who knew it was coming; Ben from The Oddity Archive is uploading non-game show stuff from the collection on his Archive Annex channel for instance. It's certainly a part of it though; you'll never notice any of NBCU/Multimedia's 90s shows on there because Nosey has been pretty consistent about getting those talk shows on any AVOD channel possible. It's just a part of those two finally realizing there's free money and viewers to be had putting it on Pluto, and TPIR was a great test of that thinking. I know I've stopped on the Pluto court show channel a few times to catch a few old Judge Judy episodes.

  14. WCCO, KDKA, WJZ and KYW share their identities with wholly unrelated radio stations. John Q. Public has no clue about KDKA not having any tie to it’s onetime TV sister, so of course the TV station got all sorts of flack when Wendy Bell’s career imploded at the radio station. Or that KYW radio is now co-located with, and operated alongside, WCAU. Call sign brand equity doesn’t mean as much as you think it does when it’s been split both ways for decades. How much do vehicle wraps cost? Something instituted by prior management (the GM that instituted the gaudy black-and-gold look left months ago) always can be reversed through a simple Paramount Global budget line item.

  17. Well, don’t paint us “New York types” with a broad brush. I’ve seen it and commented on it, as have numerous others. I think it’s been established that the CBS News (City) Now brand is being extended to the non-CBS stations (sans KCAL).

  18. Last month, Studio 31 Media Archive's YouTube channel posted a montage with WRIC's new graphics. And you know what? I can picture the new graphics on WAVY/WVBT in Hampton Roads - along with 615 Music's Newswire V.2. The graphics they have right now has been around since 2013 (was it that long?!). Nothing's wrong with the current look WAVY/WVBT have but it's time for a new one, IMO.

  19. I know some of you New York types don't like to venture outside your little tri-state bubble, but you might want to check this out. The "CBS News [City] Now" duopoly branding is going out to almost everyone, with KCAL as one notable exception.

  20. I hope KYW keeps the Eyewitness name, let’s not pull again what they did from 1991-98 (during the “NEWSDAY/beat/TONIGHT” and the “News3” era)…

  23. WTOK (and the Meridian, MS market) is finally getting a midday newscast! Their only competition is WMDN/WGBC which only puts out a 6 and 10pm newscast, as well as a 9pm on WGBC's Fox station. All former Waypoint stations, so these are produced from afar. At least Coastal Television hasn't put their mark on these stations....yet.

  24. IIRC, WCBS gave her an offer to do 5p and 11p with Ernie Anastos, her former Ch. 7 colleague. Considering that she had been passed over for Liz Cho when Diana Williams reduced her workload, perhaps she figured Ch. 2 was her best shot at a main anchor seat. Unfortunately for her, Ch. 2 dropped a #2 on its anchors by constantly shuffling them around, and she didn’t last there very long.

  25. WMAQ, WLS and WBBM (I'm sure WFLD too, didn't check them because Peacock, CBSN and ABC are fast to access) definitely had all hands on deck...even the stations from Milwaukee were covering it in full, with WISN sending their chopper into Illinois. There's no excuse for NN to not have covered this outside Paramount Global apparently having them by the you-know-whats to fulfill that Blue Bloods contract. Just throw the syndication deals at Reelz, Ovation, INSP...anyone that counts as 'cable', and call it a day with entertainment programming already.

  26. And I'm getting tired of people beating a dead horse here. I know a lot of you don't think NN will succeed (and I understand that), but the more it gets talked about not succeeding; it gets pretty boring. And part of the reason why stuff like In The Heat Of The Night are still airing is because they're trying to burn off the syndication rights; and a lot of the breaking news stuff that happens, they're trying to rely on the website, YouTube, or Nexstar's affiliates for it because of the shows like In The Heat Of The Night.

  27. And it’s a shame that neither WABC nor WSVN seemed to give any tribute to him whatsoever. Even KODE in Joplin noted his passing. Even if he didn’t leave WABC on the best of terms, the fact that they didn’t even acknowledge it online is neglectful at best and low at worst.

  28. I would be surprised if WMYT added it at this point, can’t see Nexstar wanting it to compete with Queen City News Now.

  29. Dario Melendez moved from Bally Sports Wisconsin to the vacated WISN-TV sports directorship a couple months ago; it's now a de facto 'trade' as WISN's Stephen Watson is taking Melendez's exact former hosting position at BSW. No word on compensation, draft picks, or a player to be named later .
