Don’t expect anything earth shattering. it’s smaller than 3K that they are in now. Essentially, think of 3B but with curved walls. Same style lucite desk. Same blue Peacocks all over. if I didn’t know it was a different studio; I wouldn’t have guessed.3 points

At least they air it. And they stand out from the same clock time schedule that most NBC affiliates in all time zones use.1 point

I had a feeling that one of these days that Rupert Murdoch was going to step down from Fox he built an empire with Fox. All the best Rupert enjoy retirement.1 point

WTAP in Parkersburg, West Virginia airs the first two hours of Today as normal, but they actually air Live with Kelly and Mark AFTER THAT. Another station that I can’t remember of airs the first, second, and third hours of Today as normal, but then they air Live with Kelly and Mark, and then surprisingly, they air PERSON, PLACE, OR THING AND PICTIONARY before airing Today with Hoda and Jenna.1 point

James Murdoch would be the son that wanted to go more towards a “straight News” approach. He was push out of the company in a power struggle with Lachlan1 point

Rupert remains in control of the trust that owns 40 or so percent of the company for the benefit of his children, yes.1 point

Just because he is "retiring" does not allow him to avoid being held accountable. He is probably still the top shareholder still.1 point

Except for WLS, where Oprah's show originated and aired live at 9 AM, stations were not allowed to air her in the morning. The most common time for her show was 4 PM (local time), although there were some stations that aired her at 5 as lead-in to the news and some, like KABC, that had her at 3, before the 4 PM news. Now as to whether Kelly and Mark should be on in the afternoons: I can remember, back in the '70s, when Mike Douglas was considered better suited for the morning and Merv Griffin for the afternoon. That did not deter stations from reversing that; Mike dominated 4:30-6 PM in Atlanta and Jacksonville for years, and Merv did likewise in the mornings in Birmingham until then-ABC affiliate WBRC started carrying "Good Morning America" (Merv had been on at 8 AM). So I don't know about this "such-and-such a show is a morning show (or an afternoon show)." I don't know what difference it makes if Kelly and Mark are on at 9 AM or 3 PM with one exception: For CBS affiliates to put "Y&R" at 3 would be a gamble. CBS affiliates, particularly in the Eastern time zone (like Fort Wayne), tend to dominate at noon; their noon newscasts are bracketed by "The Price Is Right" at 11 and "Y&R" at 12:30. ABC and NBC affiliates are probably in a better position to run Kelly and Mark in the afternoons...not that I think any of them are going to.1 point

It’s pretty easy to argue. No one would be recycling those at this point. The comedy stuff they’re plugging the hole with is what it is, but it fits what they’re doing with the hour, broadly. Rehashed PBS interviews? Not a chance.1 point

I don't know when this happened, but Fox's NHRA coverage actually got new graphics. They had still been using the 2017 graphics for a while (though, to be fair, they had lagged in adopting them, and some of the inserts/3D graphics still had leftover elements of the 2014 graphics in them) and I was personally expecting that they'd get a variant of the NASCAR graphics. But these actually look a little different.1 point

I've already seen that mentioned. Heaven help us.1 point

I'm sorry, but this is "one step forward, two steps back" for Nexstar and DirecTV. The "Mission Broadcasting owned" stations have been dark on DirecTV (satellite and stream) for almost a year now, when it's obvious that Nexstar "operates" these stations. Nexstar is clearly double-dipping with TV providers when it comes to retransmission fees, and the FCC should really do something about it.1 point

The Cox stations are still not on Dish, it’s been a year so far. dish really drags things out in their negotiations1 point

For all the criticism we throw Sinclair, at least they began to consolidate their Fox/MNTV/CW stations on their own signals so that what are now subfarm husks aren't really painful losses if the lawyer stuck doing the Vaughn or Cunningham negotiations gets a hair up there and the customer loses TBD or Dabl. Nexstar really needs to get these companies in order and on the same page, or the FCC will do it for them.1 point

I just gotta re-emphasize, wow. The Mornings at 10 show is really nice. Such a great show! It's been on for about 7 days now, what's nice about the show is that it really shows the personality of the presenters and in some ways, we get access to see really what the on-air staff thinks. It's just a more relaxed show. And I absolutely love the chatter between the presenters during and in between stories too. Really is a nicer vibe. We get to see them weigh their opinions on the topics a bit more. And in some cases, there are sides to the reporters and presenters that I've never seen before up till this show started so really nice work WABC for really not just delivering more in-depth stories that are compelling but allowing the presenters to put a bit more of their own spin on it. I hope they also allow others to sub in as well. So refreshing for WABC! Today we saw Nina Pineda's side and view of the story they are very real. It's like "Happy Talk" that we all know and love but on a whole other level. As alluded to in an earlier, post, while it's not a show that is intended to be groundbreaking or high in the ratings, it's still a great show for the office too, or if you are at home working, you have it playing in the background and streaming. It's reminiscent of the "View" format where the hosts themselves share their ideas and thoughts on the story and even during the live reports you can see more time spent and you just hear more of the input of the reporter which I think is great but still holdings on to the Eyewitness News live reports. Maybe they can evolve it more in the future, maybe do an "on-location" broadcast or have it outside or in different parts of the city. I really hope they play around and try different things with this show, either way, it looks great! Kudos to WABC for putting this great show together! Mike, Shirleen and Sam are a solid group.1 point

If I were in charge of an ABC station and it was getting MNF back even for a season, heck yes, I'd be happy. It's a heck of a lot more sellable as an established brand to my local clients than some of the other programming. Is it as good as SNF in terms of matchups? Of course not. But while I'm still saddled with the Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars et al, a primetime marquee sports franchise back on my air, temporary or otherwise, is a win. Meh, times change, circumstances change and the world doesn't stay frozen in 1984.1 point

Johnny Carson and Tom Snyder are spinning in their graves right now. Putting Byron Allen on CBS is like giving up Saturday Morning TV to Litton.1 point

PlutoTV has a Johnny Carson Channel, why they haven't struck a deal with WWP/Letterman for is tenure of Late Show episodes and Snyder/Kilborn/Ferguson LLS is beyond me. Yes... They have to scrub the titles to "Letterman" like they did with "Carson", everything else should be playable for the most part.1 point

Letterman’s strike beard wasn’t that long, especially compared to what he’s been sporting since he retired. He looked less like Santa Claus and more like the Gorton’s Fisherman.1 point

Family Feud now has eight unique runs, with all of them carried by WNYW/WWOR; I thought the seventh and eighth were repeats of two of the runs until I checked listings and saw each one was a different episode. Has any show ever had more than four runs a day? Insane.1 point

Uh, actually… Storm of Suspicion (which is a Weather Channel original; to summarize, it’s a true crime show dealing with forensic meteorology and how weather factors into the profiled cases) has been in syndication for a couple of years now. Disney Media Distribution, which also syndicates The Good Doctor (due to it being an ABC Signature co-production), did this when Castle was still available in weekend syndication. They switched to this exact airing format c. 2017-18. I’m guessing that since CBS has a content deal with The Weather Channel, and their plan to have the @midnight reboot replace The Late Late Show got stalled by the Writer’s Strike, someone in the network’s programming department thought, "I know of a great show we can put on at 12:35, instead of rerunning Corden into oblivion"?1 point

Yeah, I say let him have a go with it. He'd either sink it completely or it would stay as bad as it already is. No real downside.0 points
