  1. AM radio needs to be more accessible for what Griffin is doing. A simple, inexpensive AM receiver is infinitely more valuable than trying to stream breaking information during a severe weather or other emergency. Less margin of error when things go down. I wish the industry would stop putting on the garbage it does on AM radio. Make it useful instead of trying to be profitable.

  3. At least KOTV-AM is a 50KW clear channel. That's very nice to have since their potential audience is many times larger than their TV footprint at night. Great for severe weather coverage.

  6. I kinda like it actually. I wish it were a bit brighter design. But it feels more faster paced. I not sure if this will work the entire day. But select hours across the schedule. Sure.

  7. And a better use of a signal for sure rather than plugging in syndicated talk shows, brokered or religious content. Hopefully a translator is in the works for the FM side.

  9. I would bet they make some tweaks here and there moving forward, but I like what I see overall.

  10. I'm surprised that CBS hasn't sold that Indy Start TV channel to someone else why keep it truth be told.

  12. It was announced during the Saturday morning newscast, that said newscast will be the last to originate from the Kelley Ave. studio. Tulsa sister station KOTV will produce the Saturday 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. and Sunday morning newscasts this weekend, before production moves to the downtown studio beginning with the 5:30 p.m. newscast Sunday night. (This is clearly a different tack from what KFOR did when it moved to its current studio in 2017, when it produced its Friday newscasts from the old 444 E. Britton building and produced its Saturday newscasts from the newer studio the next day; though in that case, the current KFOR/KAUT building was built next to the old one, making a more seamless transition of news production between the studios possible, whereas KWTV/KSBI is moving several miles across town.)

  13. The current KWTV facilities will not be torn down. In fact Griffin Media is donating EVERYTHING in the current building to Langston University with Langston set to move it's Journalism Program to the Kelley Ave Studios in January

  14. Also remember they have other tenants that will occupy the building it won’t just be News 9. The Oklahoman (newspaper) will remain along with several restaurants and a YMCA as of now so space was probably limited for sales to be separated from the newsroom.

  15. Maybe now sales/marketing/creative service will get an idea of how hectic and busy the newsroom is when they go off sell or order stuff the newsroom must do before asking anyone "downstairs" if the logistics will work.

  17. 18. Good news I just talked to someone with Griffin Media here at the Tulsa State Fair and the move for 9 isn’t delayed they will start moving office people (sales and outdoor media) in 2-3 weeks and the news broadcasts in November.

  19. The Scripps Pink Slip Express continues at WXMI -- You can add morning meteorologist Candace Monacelli to the list. She literally just came back from maternity leave -- her last day will be July 3. This leaves Chief Kevin Craig and Reece Cole as mets... I think they're getting ready to go the "news initiative" route
