  1. Not a chance they’d succeed in “mandating” the hour be given back to the network by non-owned stations. We’re not in an era where the ownership groups are going to just say sure, have another hour—and most certainly not for the network that claims the most daytime real estate. Obviously an academic exercise at this point, but had they tried swapping The Talk for this hour, they might have gotten that. But it seems they fully realize the reality. This is a streaming play that will happen to get a comparative handful of local clearances.

  2. WNYW is part of FOX Local (which is available on most streaming platforms).

  3. The name change is likely due to the possibility this 3rd hour would not air during the morning hours everywhere. They would have to go with something generic like CBS (News) Today or CBS (News) Now and not CBS Mornings.

  4. Something seems wrong when you have three large companies coming together to offer a bundled package of sports content. Almost like you need an independent operator to carry the content independently....much like a CABLE COMPANY. I've said it a million times, this reeks of the vertical integration that the movie studios once had with their movie houses. This is why they were broken up and why Viacom was separated from CBS in the 1970s to syndicate it's content. And here we are today, where someone else's content on another streaming service is more of a token offering.

  5. Looks like just the 5pm is moving to the virtual studio. The other shows will still most likely be in the new KCAL copied set.

  6. Their latest set was like what 2 or 3 years old? Fast change for these days, not like the 80s when 3-4 was typical. Wasn't a fan of it so curious what virtual has in store. When combined with real set pieces and subdued not too distracting shots of the talent it can be interesting.

  7. i hate HATE HATE VR sets. Is this the beginning of the end? I surely hope not. They are the norm in Germany and the've always looked like crap. Its just a cheap way to get out of building physical sets. Boring.

  8. At least it appears to be an option. If it was mandated, a lot of affiliates wouldn't be too happy. Lots of them do 9am newscasts and/or lifestyle shows during that time. Not to mention it took an eternity for BOTH hours to be cleared nationwide. Cough cough WWL cough....

  10. Just something I noticed this morning on WCCO's page- a Co-branded "Day of Service" with Xcel Energy... With the old "4" logo? (Which is odd because even with that logo, WCCO almost always placed the call letters underneath it) Oversight on someone's part?

  11. Well well well, look who showed up at Fox Weather, starting today... Yep, that's Mike Seidel, who was laid off from TWC back in May. Today was his first day appearing with Fox Weather. Stephen and Kendall welcomed him to Fox Weather, also mentioning that Mike Seidel has been given the title of "Storm Specialist" with the network.

  12. Big Mark fan, here, and I tolerate Cheryl, at best. It's been almost 2 years since he would've actually retired (his contract ran until early fall '22), and is hopefully enjoying his time away from TV. There is almost no reason for him to still be retweeting the Cheryl haters, and doing so "hurts" his legacy more than the incident he was dismissed over. For a guy who has said he's ultimately glad to be out of there ("that place will be a car wash in 5 years"), he sure can't seem to put it in the rear view mirror. ON THE OTHER HAND, he doesn't need professional help. I'm confident none of us here have medical degrees to actually recommend that. He's just a 70-year-old man who's a little crusty about how his career ended, which is valid. As much as I don't think he should be doing what he's doing on Twitter, I'm guessing he's also within his legal right to do it, and is otherwise quiet about the whole ordeal. Ultimately, we're making a bigger deal out of this than anyone in his replies. Until he and Cheryl sue each other over NDA breaches or whatever, him retweeting Cheryl shade every once in awhile probably isn't worth mentioning. Honestly, I'm glad this thread didn't exist when Kevin Roy was having his actually-concerning, in-need-of-mental-health-intervention Facebook meltdowns.

  13. I promise you reporters are in the building more than you think, and they certainly aren't going to a Starbucks to work on their stories.
