  1. A bit, I watched This Morning recently and there was a panel at 5 in the morning, seriously? I just woke up, I want the headlines not some talking heads talking about the same stories that I knew when I went to bed, and I think thats the problem with the weekday This Morning, it's too stiff, too political.

  2. ABC Australia after almost a decade, has a new look, including new graphics and they brought back their iconic theme from the 80's-90's.

  3. After years of resistance post-Oprah, KVUE is finally launching a 4pm in September. No word on where Inside Edition and Extra will move to in Austin yet, but my money says both shows replace DBL at 3pm.

  5. Absolutely correct. The main floor director for World News Tonight is often posting BTS shots of the person that'll hold fort at the desk when Muir or whoever is in the field. It's frequently either Nightline co-anchor or some correspondent, but the chair is warm.

  6. For events like this, almost every station and network that's more than one person and a camera is paying to have their own bandwidth for communication in/out of the United Center. Whether it is hardwired phone lines or some IP solution for IFB/headset. And the cost is not small. This has happened before for Fox stations in cities where the DNC is hosted. It's not because of the normal people attending the convention. It's because of the protesters who don't understand the difference between Fox Local and FNC Prime.

  8. It's not really necessary (sending all anchor teams to the convention). Personally, I like the balance of having a team in studio and in the field (at the convention). I think everyone locally, thus far, has done a good job.

  9. I'm sure the United Center brought in extra cell towers to handle the increased load, but they're undoubtedly still getting slammed. And trying to talk over an iffy connection with all the background noise of a full arena? Yeah, that's not even worth attempting.

  10. I'm noticing they not sending all anchor teams to host from the convention, some are staying in studio. But this is because I assume Chicago has done these conventions before there the city that's done them the most.

  11. For a number of possible reasons. You have to keep in mind that communicating via walkie talkie is likely better than trying to talk to someone by cell particularly under the circumstances. There are no doubt logistical issues (involving communication) that everyone has to work around.

  12. Adam is the next to go as he can't fire anyone under him anymore as he fired the COO a couple of weeks ago. Adam needs to go as tape news has been an epic failure in my opinion.

  13. It seems more like a compromise. Brand the station as FOX to satisfy the network and the longtime viewers used to "Fox 6" ingrained in their heads. Otherwise, play out the WBRC 6 heritage in the new branding to let Gray do their "local first" thing.... They've always done a great job of branding with the red WBRC, tied to their visible sign on their building on Red Mountain. Working the old "6" in there is even better.

  14. Confusingly, despite the Fox name being dropped from the news branding, the new on-screen bug kept the old “WBRC Fox 6 News” branding in the new logo style and old design layout. So, either this was an oversight or Gray wasn’t sure that Fox would give approval for the station to remove the network’s branding when GrayONE was being retrofitted for WBRC’s use, and the original intention was to keep the previous title in place before Fox gave them the greenlight to alter the station’s branding.

  15. The Scripps “neighborhood reporter” is just a reimagined beat reporter or a bureau reporter from the old days. What’s old is new again. Whatever you call the concept, I think it’s a good thing because it encourages journalists to become specialists (for lack of better word) in the community they cover. That usually leads to better stories. The difference is whether Scripps will stick with the idea or ditch it. And with the way the Scripps stock price has dropped? The odds are more likely that CEO Adam Symson — the architect of the “neighborhood reporter” concept — will be out of a job and a new person will come in and change things up.
