  1. Hello everyone, Invision Community, the software that powers this forum, is preparing a major upgrade that we will likely be moving to in the coming months. While there are a number of changes and improvements that I'm looking forward to, one change may negatively impact some folks around here. Logging in to the forum will require entering the account's email address, instead of the account's username. This will not affect you if you're using Google or Discord as a method to login. How can you prepare for this? It's easy! Check the email address associated with your account by clicking here and making sure it's up to date. This is also an important thing to do in case you ever get locked out of your account and need to change your password. There will be additional notice made before this change happens, and I am considering turning the feature on before the software upgrade as a way to prepare. Please note: for security reasons, under no circumstances will I disclose an account's email address. If you get locked out of your account because your email is not current/you are unsure of what email is tied to your account, you will need to create a new account. Please don't hesitate to reply here with any questions you may have. -Weeters

  3. It's already confusing at 5pm when it's FOX 11 News at 5:00 on both KTTV and KCOP. FOX 11 Primetime News on the Plus would've been a better name.

  4. Or just call it after Fred Roggin's Sunday show for years at KNBC... Sunday Night Sports. I mean, if they show more than just football on Sundays year round, then might as well call it the obvious. EDIT: Don't forget also during the Olympic years where there'll be coverage there too on Sundays.

  5. Following NCFLMedia's lead, I made a thread for NBC Sports and its many properties following their announcement this week of them revamping their NHL coverage for this upcoming season. http://nbcsportsgrouppressbox.com/2018/08/13/nbc-sports-scheduled-to-air-record-109-games-during-2018-19-nhl-regular-season/ Good bye Wednesday Night Rivalry, hello Wednesday Night Hockey. Finally gone are the match ups between contrived rivals (since when did Tampa become a rival to Chicago?) and most match ups being between teams east of the Mississippi. Wednesday Night Hockey brings a doubleheader most weeks and more varied match ups to promote the NHL stars. Looking through the rest of the schedule, it looks like a lot of the non-Wednesday games during the week will be side-by-side productions by NBC RSNs (lots of Blackhawks, Flyers, Capitals and Sharks games on the schedule). Genius as a cost saving move by NBC but kinda flies in the face of the whole "more varied matchups" mantra that they're trying to promote.

  6. Actually, KCAL+ and MeTV Toons share subchannel 9-6. Monday through Friday 4:00 AM to 7:00 PM: KCAL+, which airs syndicated programming that doesn’t fit on the main channel’s schedule. 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM: MeTV Toons, which is also seen full-time in the L.A. market in HD on KSFV-CD 27-1 and in SD on KAZA 54-3. Saturday and Sunday All MeTV Toons.

  7. 'Plus' shouldn't have been launched in the first place. The focus should have been on strengthening 'Evening News' before even thinking about having a companion program. They didn't launch CBS Mornings + until they felt good about where CBS Mornings was (format, ratings, etc...). Sure, in theory. I think the question for them is balancing what's worth reporting on and what isn't and how much time do you devote to certain things. It's not surprising that they making adjustments (...that was to be expected).

  8. I think a happy medium would be to cover all of the day's news in the A block while doing longer-form stories the rest of the show.

  9. From here on, let's try and keep new studio/relocation discussion in the appropriate thread.

  10. A true legend in this business is soon leaving us for retirement: WHIO-TV's Cheryl McHenry after nearly 44 years. Not only that, the station wasted NO TIME in finding her replacement: Gabrielle Enright, who's been there for nearly 28 years. https://www.whio.com/news/local/legendary-news-anchor-cheryl-mchenry-announces-retirement-after-nearly-44-years-whio-tv/FJH2UY4BGVHW3O4Q6UQNJHFY2M/

  12. Longtime reporter and sometimes anchor on the weekends Sean Ley is out at WDIV. He had been there quite awhile. https://deadlinedetroit.com/articles/32852/veteran_wdiv_reporter_shaw_ley_has_left_the_station?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2naw3empcOFqsokqTqdyRkSENgmldi9ucmzvghDcLdaj3-WWI8vzW3Ho4_aem_xuNgmXO3l38JjUpzEsR9Jw Meanwhile WXYZ has added Demetrios Sanders as a reporter. He comes from WOOD in Grand Rapids.

  14. The 11am hour of GDLA is called GDLA+. I would just called it Fox11News+ Primetime to keep consistency. The + distinction lets viewers know its on KCOP since the News13/my13 News branding died years ago.

  15. With the NBA Playoffs happening April through June and Sunday Night Football starting in September, I don't think NBC would be a great partner if MLB wants their games to be carried on the mothership.

  16. "LA Live" is trademarked in itself for the downtown complex and it's easily assumed that they want to avoid any confusion with the network schedule by just going with "Fox 11 Primetime" (it's on channel 13 so you can't use that), so it gets its own bespoke branding; they'll probably figure out something better in time.

  17. Just checked the schedule via TitanTV. Two hours: 8-10pm. KCOP will still simulcast KTTV's 11am, 5pm, and 11pm news.

  19. Meanwhile, Dr. Phil (reruns) is exiting broadcast syndie after this season. All eppys will be exclusive to Merit TV. It appears the said reruns will end on OWN as well. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/merit-tv-now-exclusive-home-to-all-21-seasons-of-dr-phil/

  20. I saw that NBC's NASCAR coverage is still using the old 2015 graphics as well. This year is the final year of the current NBC contract with NASCAR (they begin a new contract with less races next year), so I'm assuming they're waiting until next year's new contract starts to roll out an overhauled graphics package for NASCAR.

  21. Nice upgrade for Raleigh/Durham. But they need to upgrade and modernize the news studio at WSOC. Although I realize the Charlotte ABC affiliate is owned by Cox and not Disney/ABC. But overdue for an overhaul in the Carolinas' largest market.

  22. Yup, same. When news of his death was announced, I just knew this was going to be the reason. I hope the other KCAL dudes on Grindr are careful.

  23. So the truth with Oji has finally come out. A real shame because I agree she added a lot to the mornings (for example she'd be great as the now vacant position for NY living co-host) and certainly deserved better and fair treatment. PIX/Nexstar seems to be no stranger to not taking its employees seriously, as was documented with Narmeen Choudhury a few years ago. And then there's the case with many being pushed out (Betty Nugyen, Alex Lee, etc).

  24. Actually, no. Reruns will stay on OWN plus on Pluto TV. Not only that, the network has expanded to Canada. https://thedesk.net/2025/02/dr-phil-ending-cbs-syndication-merit-street/

  28. That's my point...although I don't mind "Good Nite L.A.", but I think it'll be a matter of time before that's retitled to "Fox 11 News at 11(pm)".

  32. During the Honeymooners marathon they've had each anchor from PIX11 news introduce themselves and saying to watch the PIX11 News.. Are they dying for viewers or are they just advertising themselves?
