  1. World News Tonight has made the move. Did we want more? Yes, but it still looks so much better on-air, than the old. No new graphics, thought they finally lowered and widened the banners.

  2. Here's the 11:00pm announcement.

  3. “You got it my brother”

  4. I was just coming here to say the same thing. I assume that he will be doing some sort of reporting/main fill in. I thought it was originally reported that he would be stepping down from the 5 and 11, staying on the 6, so it's surprising it's just the 11.

  5. You can rest assured that Sinclair and NBC are locked into a multi-year agreement, according to the link below. I didn't hear anything regarding The Hearst Corporation and their NBC affiliates, though I'm guessing they could be the ones involved in the potential dispute. 7. I’m kinda sad about him leaving. I know he isn’t gone and probably won’t retire for awhile it sad to see change happen.

  8. They should get rid of David Navarro, let Bill do 4 and 5, and put Mike at 6 and 11. But that's not happening.

  9. I wonder what Mike’s other roles will be in addition to anchoring the 11pm. Will he report from the streets at 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm? Will he sort of be a third “breaking news” anchor on those earlier shows? I’m surprised Bill didn’t step off one of the earlier shows too. Does anyone understand what Bill says at the 1:19 mark, right before “my brother”?

  10. ABC and FOX are now gone in Guam. Sorensen Media Group has filed with the FCC to cancel the licenses of both KTGM and KEQI-LD. All that Guam has left is NBC (KUAM), CBS (KUAM.2), PBS (KGTF), and, oddly enough, The CW (KTKB). 11. WITN changed their slogan from "Most Watched, Most Trusted" to "First Alert" - what a terrible slogan for the station as a whole. Still using the same blue graphics package.

  12. Chapter 7 liquidation is always a last resort. Nothing is impossible. But that's an disastrous outcome for everyone - even creditors. If there is a bankruptcy filing, Chapter 11 reorganization is the path they will try to negotiate with creditors - even if the end goal of the reorganization is reduced debt and a better balance sheet to make the company more attractive to prospective buyers. Think the final decade of Tribune's existence. Everything they did from bankruptcy until the deal closed with Nexstar (minus the whole Sinclair debacle) was done with the intention of getting the most money out of a merger. The print spinoff unloaded a financial problem, the LocalTV LLC Merger gave them scale. Scripps will just need to move at an accelerated pace because they don't have money to grow, they already spun off print, and the clock is ticking with the imminent ownership deregulation. There are considerable financial benefits to a seller with a sale structured as a merger with one company (and the buyer spins off any properties that regulators won't allow them to keep) rather than parts of the company being sold to multiple businesses.

  13. Add Griffin Media’s KOTV and KWTV to the list with them in an agreement with Gray Media. The 10 games (still being finalized as to which games) will air on NewsOn6Now which is their 24/7 news rebroadcast channel over the air and Cox Cable 53. While OKC will be on KSBI 52.

  14. Dang. I really need expected that KTIV and The Springfield, MO stations to air Cardinals games, given the fact they're closer to Kansas City, and therefore the Kansas City Royals.

  15. Tom is good. He checks off all the boxes: He can do breaking news, he can be out in the field, and he can handle the lighter stuff. As for who his regular fill-in would be, I see Hallie Jackson filling that role.

  16. I"ll post this here since it does involve our new FCC commissioner, Brendan Carr. He visited Spanish Fort, Alabama today to climb to the top of WKRG's broadcast tower. https://www.fcc.gov/document/carr-visits-alabama-tower-workers-public-safety-officials-tv-station https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEld4LA7f4U (The above links don't reference WKRG, but it was confirmed by WKRG reporter Debbie Williams that it was their tower) Perhaps he should have visited WEAR/WFGX and WPMI/WJTC to see what four stations under common management looks like!

  20. That's a slower version of the main Inergy close and signature: It's a version I haven't heard yet. It seems few if any of the stations actually picked up and used the theme and signature, WEWS I know did. WXYZ uses the open/close theme but not the signature.

  21. I would imagine a fire sale would be in order and the stations would be spread to the four winds ownership wise. The networks would be behind apoplectic if stations went dark.

  22. I just came across this. Steve Bosh who spent 30 years at KUSI in San Diego has passed away. He also notably co-anchored Independent News Network INN News and WPIX Action News in New York with Pat Harper. https://fox5sandiego.com/video/remembering-steve-bosh-kusi-reporter-passes-away-at-85/10478323/
