  1. Ken Siemek retired Thursday night as KOLN/KGIN's longest-serving employee at 44 years. With such a significant impact on Nebraska, its no surprise the studio is renamed in his honor on his last day. https://www.1011now.com/2025/10/31/ken-siemek-reflects-44-year-career-he-retires-1011/

  2. I kinda wish they'd spell out "Alaska". It's a short name, and I wouldn't have the urge to read it as "ACK! News Source".

  3. Tim Fleischer and Dave Evans retired. That’s a lot different, and deserving of an on air goodbye, compared to leaving for another job.

  4. A new logo for KTUU.. based off of WBTV. It hasn't appeared on-air yet but is shown on their weather stream and a new look for the Alaska's News Source brand. Wouldn't be surprised if they are next in line.

  5. Whenever Rick is off, his fill in at 11 is usually Sharrie, unless she’s off too, in which case Gray fills in. Yesterday, Rick and Sharrie were off, and Gray filled in at 5pm and solo anchored at 10pm, but Brian filled in at 11pm. On a different note, Tamala Edwards has been filling-in in the evenings when an anchor is off, and yesterday she filled in as feature anchor at 4pm, but Sarah filled in at 5pm.

  6. Dana Tyler spotted in the wild. She cameoed as a reporter on Law & Order SVU this past Thursday. Sue Simmons has done so in the past.

  7. Sounds like the WGN Morning News was referenced in a new promo for WFLD's morning newscast. WGN had a great response to that...

  8. Toni absolutely deserves it. She’s been doing it so long and is great. But as we’ve seen in the past they seem to pass over some of their in house people

  9. You have a totally fair point. A pre 7am to 11:35 pm workday is ALOT. They could use another MET. However she seems to be enjoying herself based on the Instagram reel. From firsthand experience, I can tell you when you do something you love such as journalism, it's much easier to pull a double -- SOMETIMES -- rather than in a regular job that you're not passionate about.

  10. Trying to keep a running tally of people falling victim to Skydance's axe today -- the first in two rounds, apparently. Here's what I've heard so far: WJZ: Morning anchor Sina Gebre-Ab Chief met Derek Beasley KDKA: Features reporter Katie O'Malley "Talk Pittsburgh" host Kelly Dzanaj Executive producer and community affairs host Lisa Smith

  14. Already covered it. Unrelated to that... WVUA is changing their newscast structure. Starting Monday, November 10th, it'll be just two live half-hour newscasts on weekdays at 5:00 and every night at 9:00. The 5pm will repeat at 6pm and the 9pm will repeat at 10pm. https://www.facebook.com/WVUA23/posts/mark-your-calendars-west-alabama-starting-monday-november-10th-we-will-now-have-/1470650111735406/
