  1. Technically, it won't. KTVD is one of the stations Nexstar has already announced it'll be divesting.

  2. Within two years. Which, again, gives them plenty of time to wait for the rules to be changed so they don't have to. If they get to keep it, that is.

  3. TBN is probably the operator of the infomercial loop just so they can either make some extra money on a channel slot, or possibly recoup losses over their investment in Merit. TBN was bad enough, but they've really hit some new lows as a broadcaster in recent times. The current climate seems to be perpetuating this and TBN is falling into line spreading the lies as opposed to the "good word" of what they should be preaching as a religious broadcaster.

  4. It's a relief that while the entire network craters around it, the Daytime folks are standing their ground (and their Nielsen winning streak) to remain successful and basically unhindered.

  5. I hate to bring up a year old threat but I have to because it looks like CBS Daytime is not changing anytime soon. Beyond The Gates is getting another two seasons on our TV sets. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/beyond-the-gates-renewed-through-season-4-cbs-1236565594/

  6. And I don't mean to hate on anybody's paycheck. Companies are greedy (they pay some MMJs minimum wage), so I don't blame top talent for milking companies for all their worth. $300K + anchor salaries however are getting harder to justify in the era of sinking viewership -- especially when producers and reporters do all the work on the local level. Accordingly, I understand Scripps elevating MMJ salaries and making the anchors do more than read, but eliminating the position isn't the solution IMO. High paid anchors better start turning stories (if they aren't already) or doing anything they can to contribute further to newsrooms to TRY and extend their shelf life.

  7. This is the hollowed out Times Square Studios as of today. I don’t believe there’s been an announcement on future plans quite yet and up until a week ago the remnants of GMA’s old studio were still in place. Sad sight to see.

  8. And now that she has left, WESH 2 has promoted Lindsey Sablan (formerly from WINK who joined last year) to weeknights. She'll now do 5:00 and 10:00pm (WKCF) with Jesse Pagan while Michelle Imperato now gets the coveted 6:00 and 11:00pm slots alongside Stewart Moore. https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/wesh-orlando-sets-new-evening-latenight-anchor-teams/

  9. Morning News anchor team is still the same. The midday news is in flux currently. As I mentioned previously, Kirk Hawkins co-anchors with Lauren Lyster, Megan Telles or Samantha Cortese at 11am. Depends on the day. Lauren, Megan or Samantha will solo anchor the 12pm, 1pm and 3pm hours.

  11. I just realized something about the footer of that statement from CCB. It would look a lot better if the WNDY logo matched the other two (and if "WRTV" was in bold).

  12. Anyway, it's a nice look. It's something KDVR needs to pick up stat. Insane that all three Nexstar stations in the market look virtually indistinguishable. I feel like it cheapens the look of a top 20 station looking the same as Grand Junction.

  13. It looks like Gray's WOIO/WUAB/WTCL/WOHZ is finally getting its wish. Come the end of next year, the quad group of stations will be leaving Reserve Square in Downtown Cleveland for suburban Independence at the Independence Technology Center. https://neo-trans.blog/2026/04/17/woio-wuab-wtcl-tv-seek-independence/?fbclid=IwdGRjcARPnDhjbGNrBE-brmV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDDM1MDY4NTUzMTcyOAABHr6nB7pGFhzpu-k1XgmpqxdZNpU_yq0XyKceKRwVOhwmjkLciuQdd319xpE7_aem_3kK5hEhiy9drtCWEwQ0VdA

  16. It's 2026. How are home shopping channels (on cable or otherwise) even a thing anymore?

  17. They should think about it, as businesses should think about multiple contingencies. Maybe something comes of it, maybe not.

  18. Kendis was laid off. My point is if you’re going to pay the big bucks to bring in network talent, then have them work more than one show. Surprised Kaity hasn’t been given the pink slip the way they’ve been giving them out.

  19. Kinda like those extremely low-quality "CBS Deals" segments on CBS's O&Os?

  20. I guess "Shop Scripps" already went live... but not as a revival of "Ion Shop," but rather as one of those paid steals-and-deals segments during newscasts. Saw one today during WCPO's 4PM newscast.

  22. So our good friend Mr. Jones is reporting the WKMG got rid of 13 Reporters/MMJ's (I'm not a patron, so I can't read the story )... This seems a bit far fetched IMO... I think they pulled a Scripps and renamed them "Community Correspondants"

  23. Makes me wonder if JKOC had enough and bounced — and this is their interim solution. It is odd for there to be just sports cutaways and not news cutaways in these types of small-market arrangements, which makes me think this was unplanned and interim. If I gambled, I’d gamble on permanency unfortunately.

  25. If Steve is such a "horrible" host, then explain how he's still going strong after 16 years as host? This version probably would have been canceled back in 2010 had he not been hired.

  26. I don't blame him. He thought he hit the jackpot when The Weather Channel (which was owned by a consortium of Blackrock and NBC at the time) offered him the chance to do his own morning show. Not only did the show not work out but the channel went to shit too under Allen ownership. I would try to get back together with GMA if I were Sam Champion too.

  27. NBC9 KUSA and MyDenver20 KTVD (under TEGNA) with FOX31 KDVR and CW2 KWGN (under Nexstar) all under one roof. Half the Mile High City TV Market blanketed by Nexstar. YEAH, THAT'LL BE THE DAY! Let's hope that day never happens!

  28. imo the penny pinching era started in 2008. NBC got Sue Simmons retired abruptly in 2012 That reminds me. In the late 2000s I saw some WTVJ news anchor contracts when staff were leaking to sfltv all kinds of mess. Even back then certain achors were making ~$500K in just salary alone, I'm sure 20 years later a $1.5 mil salary for top 4 news anchor isn't rare, add to that bonuses, FICA, 401K matches, benefits etc. In market #1 that would be higher. I don't know about Chuck, but most of these people just show up to read the news and don't do anything else. with 50-60% of station revenue is from retrans fees, which depend on people paying for cable/YoutubeTV not actually watching the newscasts, why not ... ahem ... chuck out uncle Chuck? Pun intended.
