  6. That's the hallmark of VizRT handling video playback with less than perfect codec settings. Always been one of the most finicky parts of that entire system.

  7. How many shopping channels do we need? The last I want is garbage channels filling the airwaves.

  8. I'm not saying he didn't grow or improve, but I just think there's way too much weight being put on being passed over for a promotion on ONE occasion. Cecily & Adam are locked in on evenings, Karen was already on mornings when she shifted chairs, so all that's left is the weekend evening slot, where it's quite obvious they wanted to replace a Black female with a Black female. No conspiracy, hardly slighted, he was just...stuck. Shit happens.

  9. One of these days, Nexstar is going to lose the game they invented. At this rate, its a matter of WHEN a network pulls their affiliation when they balk at the rates and a pay TV provider permanently drops them when they demand too much money. They'll be as toxically radioactive as the former Fox Sports RSNs (which will finally die this year under MainStreet).

  10. That would make sense in keeping consistent with the teams. 4/6 David and Liz 5/11 Mike and Sade

  12. A sign of the times that Bill's days with WABC are starting to be numbered. But its fair, he's 76 now.

  13. It makes sense. They're the longest-reining duo in the history of WABC-TV at 23 years and counting (as long as Bill continues at 6pm), and as long as Liz wants to do it, and as long as Bill wants to continue to do it, then why not?

  14. Ok - let’s just make sure everyone understands how the things went down with Sam and NBC/TWC. GMA was killing it in the ratings - and it seemed like the additions of Sam and Josh really added to the spike - so NBC went after something them both. They fed Josh’s enormous ego - and Sam wanted to be closer to Miami - where Rubem was full-time, and Atlanta offered him that opportunity. of course NBCs plan all along was to pull them away from ABC was promises that would never pan out. Sam even filled in for Al on Today a few times - Josh subbed for Matt - but the needle didn’t move for NBC. Once Comcast bought NBC and sold TWC, the writing was on the wall for both. Sam was fortunate to have stayed in the good graces at ABC and WABC. Technically he is a GMA contributor through being an employee of channel 7. When Bill Evan’s was on the outs years back - I knew Sam was making his comeback based on his daily appearances at 7 Lincoln Square. Sam never burned his bridges. He’s a very amicable guy. I believe he’s one of the longest talents in the market now - probably only with the exception of Kaity and Rosanna.

  15. Not everyone has the same desires and needs in life, nor the same risk tolerance. It’s completely understandable why he’d choose to take the opportunity to lead a show himself. Some people might choose to stay put, also a perfectly rational decision. Sometimes you take a swing and it works out, sometimes not.

  17. NBC9 KUSA and MyDenver20 KTVD (under TEGNA) with FOX31 KDVR and CW2 KWGN (under Nexstar) all under one roof. Half the Mile High City TV Market blanketed by Nexstar. YEAH, THAT'LL BE THE DAY! Let's hope that day never happens!

  21. Makes me wonder if JKOC had enough and bounced — and this is their interim solution. It is odd for there to be just sports cutaways and not news cutaways in these types of small-market arrangements, which makes me think this was unplanned and interim. If I gambled, I’d gamble on permanency unfortunately.

  22. WTHI and WLFI have new information up about joining Gray: https://www.wthitv.com/news/terre-hautes-wthi-lafayettes-wlfi-join-gray-media/article_f7796406-c324-4a0f-8ba8-bc3f59d01ab9.html With Gray's Local News Live being available, I wonder if they will transition from Weather Channel meteorologists to other Gray stations providing the weather (ala LNL) or if they will hire back former folks. I believe Everett Lau was still working at WTHI, albeit behind the scenes, rather than doing weather.

  23. There's a lot more than "boomers" that are upset with WINK. Regardless of the truth, WINK handled this situation appallingly bad and the relationship that Matt Devitt had with the public was clearly underestimated. In all likelihood, WINK will want to settle before it goes to trial. Including immaterial claims about an alleged gambling problem is a new low I didn't expect a station like WINK to go to. WINK has previously been a station I long regarded as one of the best independently owned stations in the country. But sadly I cannot in good conscience continue to hold WINK in that regard at the present time. They have been nothing short of tone-deaf with the public about their handling of Matt Devitt. And acting like the public's outrage doesn't exist is not doing them any favors. And their segment "WINK Listens"? I strongly suggest cancelling that until they recommit themselves to actually follow through on listening - not to their ego but to the public who they claim to serve. A competent judge (assuming impartiality truly dictates the matter) will see it is little more than WINK's attempt to smear Devitt using court documents.

  25. Read the filing page 18, he was allegedly at an illegal gambling arcade. Screenshot from a Facebook message from Someone working at the casino messaged to tell him to stop coming every night because it looks like he has gambling addiction and people are noticing. WINK having a stick up about the festive icons in the weather graphics is so funny. They tolerated his tardiness, complaints from staff having to pick up after him, for 2+ years but the festive weather icons mucking up the vibe of the graphs package broke them. Not the sketchy intern he brought in without telling anyone, who worked for 100 hours without pay All he had to do was not post on FB acting like he was shocked at being fired, even though he literally signed a paper acknowledging if his antics continued they might terminate him. $10k down the drain to respond to this
