  1. And here's NBC Nightly News with coverage of the same crash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=ksFhXFuRblg;m=1;s=10

  2. Where can I find the news open that corresponds to that theme besides the NMSA? It seems like that WQAD’s NMSA page has a lot of opens that can’t be found on YouTube. Who composed KMTV’s themes from that era? I recall when I posted that in the Classic Video Thread back in August someone said “Chip Davis of Manheim Steamroller” composed it. Anyway I’d love to hear a clean copy of those themes.

  4. It's an old enough site that you will need to enable Flash. As I look at the WFAA open, I can totally see a few Vance-y elements of it, especially those letterboxes. ——— Some KOBR material from 1994. Here's a promo: Here's a story. Keep in mind while watching, THE YEAR IS 1994. Here's a potpourri of other stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0sGYgfca3M

  5. I'll ask my cousin who lives in El Cajon to find some home recorded VHS tapes of San Diego TV. Maybe he'll find a copy of This Day that KFMB didn't destroy. I really should find a way to transfer my VHS collection to digital files. I've got tons of rare mouthwatering clips from my nearly 10 years of VHS collecting.

  7. Lots of rare stuff from a new channel I just found: A WMBD promo from 1983 for the debut it's version of Newscope, along with some ids: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocSTzD0XVmM And a promo from 1997, just after they changed to the Media General style graphics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbjGyheKxUc A rare news promo from WBLN (now WYZZ), yes Channel 43 had news back then, and yes, there was a station using the NewsChannel name before KTVK! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4gQTnpwXIc A weak quality (multi-generation and poor reception) promo from WAFF in 1981, heralding the arrival Tom Kennemer & Missy Ming from WHNT: And a promo plus afternoon update from WEEK from early 1985. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rUimWDGlFw

  8. Why does KSDK own that land? Why wasn't it sold earlier?

  13. You're not the only one...I happened to send this in today almost immediately upon hearing this clip. Bob Israel did indeed write this theme, in 1986.

  14. Back in the day, they'd send Mike out to a high school every Friday to preview a football match-up. While they do that now in the form of the morning "Friday Flyover", this isn't much different.

  15. I have identified the composer of the unknown WJBF closing theme from 1989. It was Score Productions who did a number of themes for ABC News during the 1980s and 1990s. The closing theme was also used on ABC News' Business World broadcasts hosted by Sander Vanocur.

  17. He never stopped. Frankly, reviews and entertainment stories were about all he was doing, anyway. The 3-person anchor panel was abandoned awhile ago.

  18. And from the same channel, another holy grail found, clips of KFMB's This Day from June 18, 1986: And a bonus, a clip from KFMB's original This Day back in 1964:

  19. Some WBAY from 1995 - surprising that there really isn’t anything from the station from that year until 2007 on YouTube. Is that a young Eric Gordon voicing?!

  21. The last female morning team I can recall is Jill Becker and Karyn Greer on 11Alive. I DM'd Scott Jones of FTVLive on Twitter about his rather nonsensical assertion that this pairing would be awkward. I haven't heard back from him, nor has he changed his story. I'd be surprised if he does respond in any way...
