  1. I was others! I used to make my powerpoints in middle school using her templates (orange, blue, green, purple,) and making lower thirds In MS Paint for my titles im surprised she didn’t include KRON Overture era graphics as well as the first generation KTLA flashpoint era gallery photos. But oh it’s so nice to see this gallery of the 2005 graphics. It still looks fresh.

  2. I noticed that the past few nights.. specifically with Lucy Yang as mentioned. However over the past few years (specifically during the past administration) Bill Ritter.. ONLY Bill Ritter.. would throw comments in making it quite clear of his political stance. It’ll be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks.

  3. I do like the new ABC logo, but not the size of it. Rather the ABC size be same size as the 7 logo and be right beside it. Like CBS 2 for example. By 2033, we should have this logo.

  5. It's hilarious how so many Georgians use Charlotte as their news career launchpad move to Atlanta but wind up right back in Charlotte in the end...

  6. Linda Kane did great work. I think that KTLA look was inspirational for a lot of others. I liked the graphics she did for a lot of the other Tribune stations, which had a similar feel but were unique unto themselves. I see she still has a website up along with a portfolio – some of it looks like it never made air. I didn't think she did any work for KTVU, but there are what look like some concepts on there. http://www.lindakanedesign.com/broadcast Also, while I'm here, does anyone know who did the KCNC 1997 design? I always thought that was a slick one.

  8. The LoConte Goldman Design also did the 1997 rebrand/graphics package for KTLA5 in collaboration with the then newly-found Linda Kane Design (LKD), she brought in the Boston-based design firm for the news opens and bumps whiles Linda did the design and production of other components. The 1997 KTLA5 Redesign (when they started branding themselves as "L.A.'s WB") garnered them 7 BDA Awards including 3 Silver Awards and one of which for the Total Package Design. http://web.archive.org/web/20000818195119/http://www.lindakanedesign.com/lkdbio.htm

  9. Found this while goofing around online this afternoon the "Big Switch" in Denver, a throwback segment from KUSA-TV: (Too bad they don't show the Phil Hartman promo that aired right before the first 9NEWS@5 as an NBC station).

  10. New York is too different from region to region for one statewide newscast to find traction. Upstate people hate downstate people; the (NYC) northern suburbs don’t care about anything or anyone other than Metro North; Long Islanders are too busy being stuck in traffic; and everyone hates Staten Island. I think the solution for WPIX is to move out of Midtown East, and move to Queens. Then, build a newscast and image that is New York City, other than Manhattan. Forget Manhattan news. Concentrate on the other four boroughs and their 7,000,000 residents. It’s harder to do, and requires some real outside the box work. But it would give New York something it doesn’t have: a newscast that resembles and reflects New York.
