  1. So the UFO stuff has helped ratings. But obviously at a cost:

  2. In this age of cord cutting cutting, this could have been an opportunity for broadcast networks to regain some strength (if not for streaming). Sadly we're running out of syndication options. It's went from too many talk shows to not enough. With the boom of excessive newscasts, gone are the days when you could keep your TV on a local station for hours without changing the channel. I'm sure station executives don't expect the same audience to sit through big news blocks like 4 to 6:30 PM. They're most likely banking on a different audience tuning in at the top or bottom of news hours.

  3. I want to compliment CBS 2 on a great tribute to a great woman. They really did a classy job honoring Elise Finch with the service that went from around 10:34 until 2pm. Dave Carlin spoke, as did Maurice DuBois. They had a video of everyone’s memories of her, too. She is going to be missed dearly, but CBS 2 has been classy the entire time since announcing her passing. I’m sure there were more in the church but I spotted Dana and Dick sitting together, which was nice to see her colleagues honoring her. Rest easy, Elise. Thank you for a great 16 years at the station. You will be forever missed!

  4. This one's gonna be interesting, since it's a rare pacific storm to hit the continental United States. TWC is focusing their attention on it at this moment, but the local stations aren't quite in "Hurricane Mode" like an Atlantic or Gulf station would be....yet.

  5. That's gotta be great news for all of the Nexstar stations roped into promoting this garbage during their local news breaks. At least the AT&T/DirecTV viewers didn't see it since all of their Nexstar channels are blacked out!

  6. You’re wrong or you’re misreading my previous post. GH was at 2pm on those three stations for a brief period of time (2012-2014) when Katie Couric had her show on at 3pm. https://deadline.com/2012/06/general-hospital-to-move-to-new-2-pm-slot-on-september-10-292479/amp/ GH moved back to 3pm on the east coast O&Os and a few other select stations after Katie was canceled. https://soaps.sheknows.com/general-hospital/news/39759/general-hospital-changing-time-slots/ https://michaelfairmantv.com/general-hospital-to-switch-time-slots-in-some-markets/2014/08/13/

  7. Not true...WABC, WPVI, and WTVD all air GH at 3pm eastern. Has been for awhile now. Even when All My Children and One Life to Live we're still on, GH was always on at 3pm.

  8. It says the 10am show debuts Sept. 11 but I wonder what that means for WABC’s 9/11 memorial coverage. That usually does not conclude until noonish.

  10. This. They were the one of the few of not only station group left without a centralized graphics hub. Part of the implementation of that is getting everyone on same page running the same graphics system. That way you don't need to build insert graphics for multiple systems.

  11. ABC wanted schedule synergy among the east coast and central time zone stations. Kelly & Mark @ 9:00, local news @ 10:00, The View @ 11:00/10:00 Central, Local News @ Noon/11:00 Central, GMA3 @ 1:00/Noon central, Tamron Hall @ 2:00/1:00 central, and GH @ 3:00/2:00 central.

  12. Until General Hospital leaves the air, there will never be 3pm newscasts on the east coast ABC stations. Notice they only have the 10am shows in NY, Philly, & Raleigh, where Rachael Ray leaving (and Tamron moving to 2pm) left the 10 am slot open.

  13. Just a total guess but it’s likely they’re also upgrading CG systems at the same time, which takes time to install and test before going on air with. I think they are a mix of Vertigo and Viz and who knows what else, they could be trying to upgrade stations to the same system which makes transferring templates easier.

  15. Rare find from 2007: WNBC Today in New York cut-ins during TODAY. September 28, 2007 (Darlene Rodriguez in the first, then Rob Morrison in the second, Trish Yodice doing traffic in the first, and Chris Cimino off-screen during Weather cut-ins and in the updates.) October 6, 2007 (Michael Gargiulo, with offscreen weather from SallyAnn Mosley) October 8, 2007 (Columbus Day, Darlene Rodriguez and Trish Yodice during the news cut-in and SallyAnn Mosley during the cut-in and the weather forecast, since Chris Cimino was on TODAY filling in for Al Roker.)

  18. The basic cable you can hear the F-Bomb a lot more than decades ago they have relax than in years past and also censorship orgs have moved onto streaming services, than cable or broadcast primetime TV. Little Demon did get attacked by The PTC & 1Million Moms which doesn't have 1 million members last fall. Otherwise, both leave cable & over the air broadcast alone. I think that over the air The Big 4 should try and talk with the FCC to let the F-Bomb fly since they use the other swear words which I don't believe are swear words other than the F-Bomb & and the C word.

  21. On a national level, TWC went to long-form at 1pm ET. They're scheduled to be back live from 5pm-1am ET, long form from 1am-5am ET, and then round-the-clock coverage begins starting Sunday at 5am ET. Fox Weather started a pre-recorded loop at 2pm ET solo-hosted by Jane Minar. They just went live with an update at around 4:50pm ET when the latest advisory came out. Unclear if they're planning any other fully-live programming throughout the later part of the day.

  23. I Do realize that what I’m about to bring up seems to be old, but I honestly have to say that syndication should try American versions of UK game shows, like (cough) Pointless, and keep it an hour length. I’ll bet it would be a decent lead-in to the news. I’ll bet CBS wouldn’t mind it on most of their O&O’s at 3pm, before the 4pm news. I say it’s better than 48 Hours or Dateline reruns. Otherwise syndication would be going through the motions to a point where it ultimately dies. Now, IF you’re wondering why I want this to be in syndication, IF you put it on a network, it is likely they’ll dumb it down to a point where you’re so turned off that you ultimately prefer the UK counterpart. But what if you wanted to Be on the UK counterpart, well unless you’re a British citizen, you cannot be a contestant on it, and you don’t Have all the time in the World to be a UK citizen. Another Slap in the face, right there. Oh, as for why I say most of the O&O’s, KDKA’s 3pm news, I’m sure is #1. So, in Pittsburgh, it would have to be on WPKD. Sorry for my stance on US counterparts of UK game shows, but Dumbing Down US counterparts turns me off, and it is unlikely Who Wants to be a millionaire will ever come back. I wish that would, and With a live audience.

  24. Don't get me wrong. I love my General Hospital at 3 PM rather than 2. But ABC News is always quick to preempt it so I'm surprised the O&O's care enough to keep GH at 3 o'clock and not push it up an hour to collect the ad revenue. Yes, which is why I'm surprised they didn't just leave Tamron at 10, push General Hospital up to 2 PM and do a 3 PM newscast.

  25. So the 10 am will have two meteorologists, or will Dani fill in for Sam when he's off on Fridays? Is Brittany also working with Sam on the AM or is she his Friday fill in? This press release have been worded a little more clearly. My SPECULATION is that Brittany is his morning show substitute, and Danny is his 10 AM sub for when he's off on Fridays. My question is will the 10 AM be a straight newscast or a fluffy morning show? From what I've seen however, CW and Fox stations with their own news departments (not newscasts produced by a big 3 affiliate) are better at pulling this kind of format off. In the case of PIX 11 with a straight news block from 4:30-11am, a 10 AM newscast makes sense. For ABC 7, a 10 AM sandwiched between syndicated programming at 9 and 11 AM, followed by a full hour of news at noon feels odd. I figure they don't want to mess with Kelly&Mark or The View's slots, so why didn't they follow the West Coast trend of a 3 PM?

  26. I can understand a 10 AM newscast in the case of Fox and CW affiliates that have news beginning at 4/4:30/7 AM. For WABC as an example: 10 am news sandwiched between syndicated programming at 9 and 11 AM, then the Noon news feels odd. I suspect they didn't want to mess with Kelly and Mark's or The View's timeslots, so why didn't they do a 3pm? From the way ABC News pre-empts GH, I doubt they care that much about moving it up to 2pm where some stations have kept it for years now. I hope these will be light morning fluff products and not straight newscasts. From what I've seen however, Fox & CW stations with their own news departments (not newscasts produced by a big three affiliate) are better at pulling the looser morning format off.

  27. The future of Big 3 affiliates in all markets #1-#50. If it ain't network programming, it's news. More news. And more news. Cutlers Court sounds like a CW+ pickup. It's either that or KCYU/KFFX in central WA. Yes, NTT is repeats from the 2021 and 2022 seasons, in 1/2 hour strips. *Could Beat Shazam be next, I wonder? Especialy IF Jamie and Corinne were to return? His latest health update has more good news in it.

  29. Oh my, I certainly was not expecting to hear Jessica Moore announce this on the news at 6:30 tonight. Elise Finch has passed away. https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/remembering-our-beloved-colleague-elise-finch/ Prayers and condolences to her whole family. WCBS will probably have more of a tribute tomorrow morning

  30. Ehhh... I like that broadcast remains mostly clean. I don't think shows should have to curse or have explicit sex scenes in order to be good. A good drama can stand on its own without those elements. We've all seen how low standards can go when they're relaxed (example the VMAs).
