  1. Annnnnnd, I think we're done here.

  2. People have explained multiple times why KTTV/KCOP shouldn't and wouldn't do all-day news. They're not looking to compete, they're merely filling airtime, in the current bleak syndication landscape.

  3. Like @FiveNews said, you answered your own question. Also contributing to it is that this might only be a temporary placement through the election season- Political ads often buy newscasts and Fox might see an opportunity to get a piece of that pie- especially if the republicans see value in throwing money at Steve Garvey (or, if Schiff continues the buying like he did in the Primary). To @MediaZone4K's point, I'm going to guess that the GDLA rerun is also loaded with a bunch of plugs to get people to download Fox Local to watch the full show on the go. Now, if KTTV used KCOP news times to exclusively air Chopper Cam of all the car chases, that might draw some legit eyeballs on TV and Fox Local... Hell, that could be it's own Fox Local widget!

  4. You answered your own question. There is absolutely no way they can compete with KTLA...at least in mornings/midday.

  5. The link you posted was broken, at least for me. if anyone has the same problem, I found the article after a bit of digging. Next tv probably updated the article (1.8M to 1.2M) https://www.nexttv.com/news/fcc-orders-mission-to-sell-wpix-fines-nexstar-dollar12-million

  8. Caught a promo earlier today celebrating Chuck Scarborough anchoring the news on WNBC for 50 years. Seems NBC4 has a lot planned next week. More info is on the station’s website: nbcnewyork.com/chuck

  9. I understand it's probably financial reason for airing reruns of news, but how do they expect to compete with other stations that are airing more current news and actually get an audience that advertisers are willing to pay to reach.

  12. For starers, you're talking a substantial decline in total eyeballs who cared to watch anyone cover what is a meaningless snooze fest at this point. 19 mill to 11.4....that's like a 40% drop. Great for bargain hunting, not so great for viewership. So who tunes in to foregone conclusion coverage? The die hards looking for their fix. Not surprisingly, that benefits Fox News and MSNBC. I was curious enough in 2020 where there were still contests to watch some coverage. This year, I'd have rather watched paint dry. There was nothing up in the air--we know the top of the tickets, and to the extent there were locally contested races, those are better covered...locally.

  13. Thread cleaned up and unlocked. The user that initiated the disruption has been banned. In the future, I humbly ask members to use the "report post" function and the block tools built into the forum over "backseat modding" users disrupting a thread. -Weeters
