How bad was it? I can definitely see them trending down with the stupid format they instituted a few months ago... How did KNSD and the others do?
-
Considering they've been doing fairly well in the mornings, do you think they'll mess with anchor pairings or would they add Heather as a Live Desk/Fill-in anchor? If she winds up over at 8...
-
KFMB just aired a bizzare, yet puzzling new promo. It shows a coffee machine pouring hot coffee into a KFMB mug, in the background you can hear the AM anchors. Then towards the end it says "Were brewing something new, STAY TUNED"
-
Yeah. No good-bye's, nothing. She was just there yesterday or the day before I think. The same thing happened to Janet Zappalla, there one day, gone the next. In Heather's case, one would have to assume that she is headed to another station in town. FOX5 perhaps?

XETV (San Diego 6) Morning Anchor Heather Myers has abruptly left the station. Her bio has been scrubbed from their website and her FB and Twitter pages have removed most connections to SD6. Very surprising news to say the least. I wonder where she is headed to.
-
Where did he anchor from? Miami or NY?
-
Well, that would explain why they keep posting/linking to useless content on their Facebook page. For those interested in getting better wifi coverage or what ABC Family's Christmas lineup will be, then simplemost.com is the place to visit...

I've noticed KGTV posting quite of bit of stories from simplemost.com on its Facebook page. Is this site owned by Scripps?
-
The fact that he represented himself is what struck me as odd. I'm sure some money-hungry, fame-seeking lawyer will come along and sell his/her services to him and file an appeal ( you can assume what the arguments/defense will be...)... Does anyone think NBC 10 is really worried about Renee's involvement in this whole ordeal? Sure, it doesn't look good for the station, but at the same time they placed her on leave almost immediately. Not to mention, should she resign or ends up being charged ( which would give them grounds to fire her), they will save quite a bit of $$$.

They also combined some stations here in Southern California as well. The 11pm newscast is originated from San Diego's KBNT, billed as a "regional newscast" that covers San Diego, Palm Springs and El Centro. They still have some presence in Palm Springs and El Centro in the form of anchors/reporters. Not sure if they plan on combining additional newscasts. I should add that Entravision also eliminated KBNT's weekend newscasts several years ago. They also operate Telemundo San Diego/Tijuana.

Interesting, thanks for the story. Personally, I thought it was stupid when they first started using it. Now with "Stories that matter", well that's even worse than "San Diego's News Source", But not as bad as the ND's haircut, LOL...
-
They must have fallen behind KNSD ratings wise for them to be desperately giving away money. This new[ish] News Director has made them even more crappier than they already were. All KNSD has to do is let KGTV self-implode, and wait for their new building, then they can solidly take 2nd place...
-
So KGTV has done away with "San Diego's News Source" opting for the tag line of "Stories that matter". So that means that they had to modify the opens to get ride of "San Diego's News Source" and as you can imagine, it sucks. Also, they're using a new music cut for the top/bottom of the hour preview-- it's not bad, per se but it has this urgency to it that seems out of place for the AM newscasts. And.... Can't forget that for sweeps, KGTV is offering $500 for watching ABC's Thursday night primetime! ahh sweeps desperation at it's finest...

I read a while back that Televisa was looking to get more into the U.S. market. While Univision was/is a good way, for them it was not enough as they are essentially hamstrung by that ownership cap. In all honesty, Televisa is probably one of a few owners/investors that could turn Univision around and get them profitable.
-
Not exactly the same situation, as XETV is licensed to Tijuana, Mexico, the other to the U.S. . So this proposal would not have an effect either way. i'm sure Televisa is licking its chops at this news.

In a new episode of As The Chopper Turns...KFMB's Chopper 8 has been out of commission for several weeks now (again), replaced by a rented A-Star from Welk Aviation in L.A. Looking around the net, it seems like the regular chopper is being upgraded, for what I don't know. Seems like the traffic reporters are enjoying the A-Star much more.

Who said anything about them being sister stations? WPIX just happened to have the availability, interest and money to air the game. Nothing more, nothing less than that. It does not mean that WABC and WPIX will be or are sister stations. WPVI produces one newscast for WPHL--at 10pm, that's the extent of their relationship, really. Plus, there are many markets when the local team is playing on MNF, that the game does not air on the local ABC affiliate.

Wasn't there a rumor a few years back of Billy replacing Matt?
-
I don't even know how or why they still have that unit going. With the departures of J.W., Mitch Blacher and Cristin Severance, there's really nothing going for them right now. They were doing a lot more in-depth investigative work up until this year, then it was just finding easy stories and ripping easy content from other sources.
-
Maybe they can get TEAM 10 to investigate?!?

I really liked the set when it first debuted, but i've come to dislike over the last few years. There is nothing that stands out (in a good way)...it's just bland all the way around. As for their building, they did re-do the newsroom and made it larger a few years ago, but I agree, they have a lot of space to expand. Why they never did it, baffles me. Hey, if Scripps ever wants to have a second home-base/West Coast flagship, then there is no better place than San Diego. Maybe a nice skyscraper Downtown with some signature elements that people would immediately recognize as the "Scripps" building. They already have the name recognition in the market... As for their property: It's a good sized lot, maybe they can get Coca-Cola to buy it if they ever decide to sell it...
-
oh yes, those... annoying as hell. They do love using that standup area with the monitors on the right side and the big gap between the color changing panels of the set. So what do they do to cover that gap up? They put a black curtain and shine a light that reflects the ABC 10 logo.
-
I get the need to plug the show, but it's excessive. Then again, everything KGTV has been doing recently is excessive... The long-gone Rosie. They'll send Raven-Symone instead.
-
Yeah, they do the plug during the 11pm newscast here as well. I just found it odd that they would have to constantly need to plug JK's show and retweet it several times on the main KGTV twitter.
-
I'm afraid to ask... Back to Scripps: Is there some kind of mandate that requires talent to plug Jimmy Kimmel's show? I ask because I've seen no less than 4 posts by different anchors and reporters at KGTV plugging JK on Twitter.
