WBAL is still using the old layout for desktop and mobile. But they don't even plug their website anymore. They say it will be featured in the WBAL app. A little chyron that used to have their website logo was replaced with the App Store logos.

Slightly odd shot blocking tonight. Richard Engel was reporting in studio but instead of placing him opposite Lester he was sitting behind the desk next to Lester. Looked slightly odd. At first I thought something was up with the monitor wall facing Lester preventing them from using it but it was in perfect condition.

They aren't the same episode. The secondary airings are usually episodes from two weeks prior.

I didn't watch much (episode or two a month) of Live with Kelly and Michael during his tenure but he seemed to do that on Live as well. I think some of it may have to do with his skills at reading the TelePrompTer and I wonder if anyone has given him lessons on how to read one properly. I don't watch Fox NFL Sunday (or any pregame show save for FNIA as I'm likely sleeping) so I don't necessarily know Michaels role on the show. I know analysts have to prepare tremendously for the show, take copious notes, know the game inside and out - but is one of the key skills to read from a TelePrompTer aside from a few tosses/teases? When watching Football Night in America you can see their studio hosts read off the prompter. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like when their analysts like Tony Dungy are talking they seem to adlib or follow their notes. Michael Strahan personally isn't my cup of tea as he seems a bit too goofy and aloof personality wise. That being said I've heard is that he's a good man. Even though he's played in the NFL for 15 and should be used to attention, nerves and pressure of a demanding job with millions watching it is important to remember that he is starting a new highly promoted job. Good Morning America is a huge upgrade from Live as it's the most watched morning show in the US. He has a lot of money riding on this and so does ABC it's completely normal to have jitters and mix ups on the first days.

Out of curiosity do the different network O&O's have a dedicated Washington correspondent serving the O&O stations only? I'm thinking something like the bureau reporter/teams that Scripps, Hearst, Sinclair and Cox have. Or do the O&Os have to duke it out with the entire affiliate base if they want a live report?

That there's light out at 4AM? Don't know what direction the cameras pointing so it could be a sunset instead of a sunrise. Side note: are any of these graphics flexible enough to feature a live video in the opens?

Any word on why they dropped her co-billing? On the GMA Website Geoge and Robin receive the Anchor billing while Lara and Michael are billed Co-Anchors.

Exactly Early Today and First Look were essentially the same program with different graphics and a different closing segment (Scrambled Politics on MSNBC). Now it appears that Betty Nguyen is no longer doing Early Today but solely First Look. Totally agree about Way Too Early - Willie was the best and after all the show was designed to fit his personality. When Brian Shactman and Thomas Roberts hosted it seemed like they kept the same style which didn't work with the hosts.

Not really worth a new thread but it looks like Early Today is now a double headed show. Ayman Mohyeldin has been the male presenter along with Frances Rivera.

They do have two identical control rooms that can be used for both of their studios. I believe their 10pm newscasts on WPHL come from the second control room while the 11PM show prepares.

I'm curious would Leon Harris have to sit out a non compete since his contract was not renewed? Or are non competes in place for when talent willingly leaves the station?

I guess the automation failed. I wonder if they could have gotten on air if they had a manual switcher in place? There was a tour of the station by their chief engineer on you who said that when they' were building the new facility they didn't feel the need to install costly switcher panels as everything was done by the Grass Valley automation system.

On Monday there will be a benefit concert called "Louisiana Rising" for flood relief hosted by Harry Connick, Jr (perfect timing for a show launch). I found out about this because WBAL was airing a promos saying it will be on MeTV at 8PM (it's also airing on WBFF's This TV 45.3) Based on their website the show will air on most (if not all) Raycom stations and a large group of others. The shows sponsored by Raycom and Cox. There are many competing stations airing the broadcast (Like WBAL and WBFF) but some stations of sponsors aren't bothering to carry the broadcast and its airing on other stations. For example it's not airing on WSB (none in Atlanta) or WFTV in Orlando. However WFTV's competitors WESH (not sure what subchannel) and WKMG (on Cozi) are airing the broadcast. I would think of your group is sponsoring a big event you would want them to carry it even on a subchannel for maximum exposure. Think of how it would look PR wise if a station in Pittsburgh (in Cox's case) was carrying a benefit for a station in Louisiana. Shows a bit of commitment to helping others.

Seems like they had Tamron read the news in the first half hour. Then during Today's Take - Billy Bush came in via remote because he couldn't make it back to New York due to the LAX scare. They had him at the desk through one of the vertical monitors used on Sunday Today. The connection looked a bit laggy on the on set monitor. I'm not sure if he came from a insert studio in LA but his backdrop was the upstairs studio with the monitor Windows.

Don't have a link handy but Willie Geist is apparently in the final stages of negotiating his NBC/MSNBC contract. If NBC doesn't make the right deal they will have lost a great talent. I imagine them giving him Sunday Today is an incentive of him staying at the network and a sign that they are serious about him staying a talent. I just don't seem them blowing up their morning show, giving it a new format and spending money sending him and other correspondents out in the field without a long term vision.

He was also fired/"resigned" because he was a pain in the ass to work for and to have as an employee. One of the industry magazines said he frequently insubordinated his superiors and that did not play well with the new or future owners (Comcast) management philosophy. I thought he was a great liberal and broadcaster but wouldn't want to work for him. Now he's damaged goods. A condensed Hardball could be done - essentially taking the introductory segment, the round table and his closing segment. I'm not sure if they still do but they aired a 30 minute Best of on Saturday mornings.

I think it was confirmed on Today this morning. I thought it was kind of evident went they didn't send him to Rio and had him do Morning Joe during the conventions. Today's Take has transformed into a more different and irreverent show in the past year or two and it doesn't necessarily fit into his newly "rebranded" image of a newsman who can also be funny. Some of the stuff on Take is just plain stupid and is a waste of his and the other anchors talents. He kind of already has his plate full will Morning Joe during the week (especially during this campaign season) and the need to go out to film his interviews for Sunday Today. That being said I hope he continues to fill in for Lauer.

Doubt it. I imagine a much easier way to get viewers to watch and listen would be to install monitors in the lobby Windows and have those directional dome speakers where only you could hear under it. I seem to remember seeing an image from the 90s on the Jumbotron in Times Square during the OJ Simpson trial carrying an NBC feed with text urging them to tune into a LP radio station. Doubt that would be useful now with people no longer carrying around Walkmans with an FM radio built in. Maybe they could have a section in their app to listen to the audio? They could set it up where people within say a block or two radius of the building can listen in. It shouldn't be that carried given apps and some radiostations geoblock their signals - albeit this would be a much narrower zone.

Apparently the Jumbotron outside the WJLA headquarters in Arlington came down. Apparently they are upgrading it to modern HD technology. Back in 2012 a HD board was approved but one of WJLA and the property developer's requests was for a static logo for sponsorship. They would have been in the form of an L bar with the bottom corner of displaying the ad and the top part of the L displaying community ads. Unfortunately it never was updated because of the expense. Not sure if this was hazing but there have been practical jokes on the hosts. Savannah Guthrie was told that a burger wrapper was edible but really wasn't and Willie Geist ended up eating uncooked hotdogs for a segment on the Nathans Hot Dog Eating Championship.

You need to be a professional organization that has a need for such a service. I believe subscriptions cost $500/month. There was a trial a year or two ago where Fox sued the company for redistributing content and the likes of NBC and CBS filed briefs in support of Fox's claim. But oddly enough they all subscribe to the service. Something like TVEyes is the only way I can imagine that NBC Archive on YouTube is able to get the clips. Based on the content of their YouTube channel I don't think they are affiliated with the network.
