I was looking for something unrelated but I came across this link about 30 Rock and apparently NOAA installed a weather radar there in 1961 until it was moved in 1993. I guess WNBC must of bought it and updated it for Doppler 4000.

How did Good Morning America and ABC News as a whole handle the alligator attack at Disney World?

I wonder how much it costs for a station to upgrade their radar system to go HD (assuming that's when they stopped using it) compared to purchasing a new system from WSI or Baron (I heard it's about $100,000 for the computers) and $5000/month for data? I also imagine that the data and services provided by the updated NWS and TDWR systems is of a much better quality than a stations radar. I believe WJZ is the only station that operates their own radar in Baltimore. The other three rely on NWS radar from Philadelphia, Dover, DE and Sterling,VA. TDWR from BWI Airport and Andrews AFB. I don't think it's that big of a deal here as all of the radar sites are within 100 miles or so of each other.

Just checked out the great Dennis Degan's Flickr account and it's a clock showing time for twenty four different cities. If I had to guess like most gear style clocks it's just for decoration.

It appears American Sports Network will be a permanent subchannel on WUTB on 24.3. The channel shows up in my guide but has yet to go live on Comcast.

Also remember when KNBC provided weather for the evening broadcasts to KNSD. Didn't the arrangement last a year or so?

I wonder how this will work. The stations are in different locations - will she be relying on producers in each city to do the dirty work and then fly in and put the piece together? I could understand maybe she was a political reporter covering Tallahassee but investigative reporting is a different local beast. Edit: it's not as bad as I thought location wise. All three markets are adjacent to one another - West Palm on the east coast, Fort Meyers to its West and Tampa to the north.

I realized that but I'm wondering what it is and how it works?

I think the issue (which I don't have any) is that she started out a at PC Week Radio, then went to Tech TV as a producer, then reporter and finally as an anchor (including 9/11) for a few years. She went to HLN and did odd anchoring jobs, transferred to Newsource, had her own show, provided news updates to AC360. This brings us to CBS' The Early Show / This Morning and most recently Today and MSNBC. She may not have the traditional career path of working up the markets but given her background in technology she got a leg up when TechTV started news. She obviously did well there to be offered a position with CNN - and she worked her way up the ranks. After seven years at CNN she was on for a challenge but unfortunately she went to CBS which at the time sucked ratings wise and she was brought in as a fix.

Does anyone know what this big gear assembly is in the NBC Nightly News newsroom is? You can see it running whenever MSNBC or On Assignment broadcast from there.

Savannah Guthrie today announced she and her husband are expecting their second child. Because of this she will not be attending the Rio Olympics (along with other NBC employees).

She has said repeatedly that he didn't have a drug problem. Unfortunately often times people won't notice drug use in people they care or know about. The thing about Fentanyl is that you wear a patch for three days to take care of your baseline pain and only use pills for break through pain or if you have end stage cancer they have fentanyl lollipops which dissolve in your mouth. The report doesn't mention the type of fentanyl he was on but if it was a patch and the reports he was battling the flu a fever could cause him to overdose. The patches release medication at a constant rate but if your body temperature is high you'll get a higher dosage. I was put on the patches for about a year and a half while when I was having debilitating pain caused by a benign bone tumor. I fractured a vertebrae; had the entire vertebrae and disks removed; a bone graft and fusion; fractured another vertebrae during recovery; had another fusion; and a year later a final surgery. As an aside Lester Holt appears to have cut his vacation short - he's anchoring from LA tonight. My man Jose was apparently scheduled to fill in.

Sounds like it was preempted so they could make more ad revenue or offer make goods.

I can't help but wonder how they'll handle the Comcast complaints.

If did go out on air.

Looks like it. Especially a shame because of the Preakness. But it always is interesting watching WBAL's pre show with their reporters out in the infield get wet - of course the anchors are sitting in a tent that has air conditioning. People still will come out and party - especially if they paid $105 for a mug that provides unlimited beer and "adult activities".

WMAR has an emoji forecast. God I hope this made it on air: Well, it was posted to their website as a static image. But arent some of these images auto uploaded without user intervention?

Veronica Johnson has quietly left WRC this past Friday with no mention on air or online. Her profile has been scrubbed from the NBC Washington website and social media pages. She's posted two forecasts on her Facebook page. Her Twitter username is still VJohnsonNBC4 but her bio is changed and hasn't been updated since last Friday 13 May. One or two people on DCRTV are guessing she's going to another station given the lack of on air farewell.

Seems to me that NBC is going to keep both of their channels alive in Dallas. The station bought a pair of UHF transmitters to get them through the repack and ATSC 3.0 transition. I bring this up because somewhere there was mentioned that NBCU was looking at their options in the incentive auction. If they were going to elect to change bands or sell one station and share a channel they probably wouldn't be buying two new transmitters.

I don't know how much news could be made - they had two hours to cover NBC, Telemundo and their ten cable networks. The Hollywood Reporter made a brief mention saying their number one in the morning, evening and weekends when it comes to news. Here's a few links covering the upfront but they seemed to be entertainment focused. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/la-et-st-nbcuniversal-upfront-jimmy-fallon-hamilton-highlights-20160516-snap-story.html http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/2016-nbc-universal-upfront-live-programming-seth-meyers-donald-trump-1201776054/ http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/nbcuniversal-upfront-presentation-2016-894471

GiGi Barnett signed off yesterday after 14 years at WJZ. The station said she's heading to Texas - I couldn't watch the video of her farewell.

Thomas Roberts sexuality and activism shouldn't be a big deal now a days. Gay marriage is legal in the US and the majority of Americans are in favor with it.
