  1. Mike Rawlins of KRTV is making a huge step up to WNBC. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/krtv-chief-meteorologist-heads-to-wnbc/199669
  2. So was Katie oblivious, or did Matt and other men just treat her better?
  3. "Sorry guys I had a burrito for lunch. Should not have had it extra spicy."
  4. Maybe it's intentional. Maybe they want to seem like they're giving us the news straight, cut, and to the point without seeming like they're hyping it up. That would suit their historical mantra.
  5. KSHB's chief met Gary Lezak formally came out. It was one of Kansas City's worst kept secrets. Still a very sincere post. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=2308536252505958
  6. Yeah what's the point of that? "Here are the stories we covered in the show, just a refresher." And the movement with the music (beginning and end), while unique, is pretty fast paced and can be a bit disorienting.
  7. Chris Hurst, a former TV anchor, won his election. http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/07/politics/chris-hurst-alison-parker-virginia-house/index.html
  8. Well helloooooo there. Didn't expect that one. That's a pretty good get.
  9. Surprised no one mention KFXL's tower collapsing. They're off the air OTA but still provided on cable. http://foxnebraska.com/news/local/tower-falls-in-lincoln Cause as yet unknown, but there were very high winds in Lincoln last week.
  10. Looks like KOTV is trying is getting a bit excessive in promoting their morning show, or anything for that matter. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/10/18/pushing-too-hard
  11. Part of the death of TV is its own doing, like a habitual smoker that has lung cancer but refuses to give it up, partially out of denial that they've done this to themselves. That said, even companies like Sinclair can only keep it up for so long.
  12. To be fair a lot of stations don't have drones.
  13. KSHB also has a drone. Looks like something Scripps is investing in for their stations.
  14. Sounds like there's a secret purge happening at KGBT. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/kgbt-anchors-missing-from-social-media/194942 According to the commenter on the article they kept cutting away from CBS coverage of the Vegas shooting to go to other programming. Also apparently their tag outs reference a convenience store?
  15. 3 people died working on the WSVN/WPLG tower. http://wsvn.com/news/local/3-dead-after-falling-from-television-tower-in-miami-gardens/ (as an aside, the reporter seems very uncomfortable. repeated himself a lot)
  16. Has anyone else noticed that they label everything as "Breaking News"? It just occurred to me tonight, and now I can't stop noticing it. Every. Single. Story. "BREAKING NEWS." Why? An update from a story days ago isn't breaking news, it's an update.
  17. I actually really like that open. Music cut is a bit odd. Their logo is also nice. Otherwise, I see Look F in the first couple seconds when their slogan pops up.
  18. God that was painful to watch. The first 15 seconds seemed like a poor spoof of a rap video or a slam poetry reading in some late night coffee shop. Then he's holding his script (?) on game show-sized cards like he's the host. He walks out onto set and starts talking like Dr. Phil or something. He also seems, no offense, a bit old to be doing a BuzzFeed/Snapchat-esque news show. It's crap like this that no one like watching local news anymore, then they wonder why these new formats result in plunging ratings. All of these things make The Now look better and better.
  19. Has this been mentioned yet? Interesting situation in Nashville. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/9/24/nashville-station-helps-cops-in-hostage-situation
  20. Lol, why? So they can drop to fourth place in the mornings?
  21. That studio is arguably better than Today's main.
  22. Cable station 6 News in Lawrence, KS formally shut down its news operations today. It had been a staple in the community for 45 years. All of its shows will be preserved and kept at a museum at the University of Kansas. The station was bought my Minnesota -based Midco last year/early this year and was told a few months ago that they would be shutting down its news operations and transform the station into a regional sports network.
  23. Does this EW Scripps purchase mean all of their stations will carry at least one of these networks? What does it mean for the non-Scripps stations that have one of these networks on their subchannels?
  24. Isn't KJRH's new news director and some EP from KOTV? If so, then it's pretty clear what's happening here. New management is being petty and spiteful against KOTV and is trying to hurt them. I don't know if these recent decisions are so much of an attempt to help KJRH as it is an attempt to hurt KOTV.
  25. How bad has their morning show been that they felt the need to unceremoniously can both of them at the same time?
