  1. What would have stopped Scripps from giving stations the resources necessary to produce it though? I know for KSHB at least they've hired reporters to specifically report for the Now.
  2. I still don't understand how some Scripps stations managed to avoid the Now plague. It sort of started like that, then ratings tanked and they tried to make it more localized. Clearly, that also didn't work, so they're gonna go back to the original premise and hope things are differen't the third time around.
  3. How's that any different than Nightly News or Today being hosted from the Olympics host city?
  4. it gets worse. He was told to stay off of school property. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/2/21/weatherman-was-told-to-stay-off-school-property
  5. Has no one mentioned KCCI meteorologist Frank Scaglione apparently soliciting minors? He's no longer employees, and it sounds like management isn't telling their employees much either. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/crime-and-courts/2018/02/19/kcci-tv-des-moines-meteorologist-accused-inappropriate-behavior-snapchat-twitter-frank-scaglione/350171002/
  6. Wait, so they're moving their studios 60 miles away? Ok.
  7. It's also silly because WXYZ is one of their original stations. Scripps would be insane to sell off one of the originals. Not to mention they love ABC. They'd more likely sell of some NBC and CBS stations.
  8. jesus is that bug big enough? Hearst would be jealous, they got out-Hearsted.
  9. ...why? Didn't their 6:30 show basically rate hashmarks?
  10. Mike Rawlins of KRTV is making a huge step up to WNBC. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/krtv-chief-meteorologist-heads-to-wnbc/199669
  11. So was Katie oblivious, or did Matt and other men just treat her better?
  12. "Sorry guys I had a burrito for lunch. Should not have had it extra spicy."
  13. Maybe it's intentional. Maybe they want to seem like they're giving us the news straight, cut, and to the point without seeming like they're hyping it up. That would suit their historical mantra.
  14. KSHB's chief met Gary Lezak formally came out. It was one of Kansas City's worst kept secrets. Still a very sincere post. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=2308536252505958
  15. Yeah what's the point of that? "Here are the stories we covered in the show, just a refresher." And the movement with the music (beginning and end), while unique, is pretty fast paced and can be a bit disorienting.
  16. Chris Hurst, a former TV anchor, won his election. http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/07/politics/chris-hurst-alison-parker-virginia-house/index.html
  17. Well helloooooo there. Didn't expect that one. That's a pretty good get.
  18. Surprised no one mention KFXL's tower collapsing. They're off the air OTA but still provided on cable. http://foxnebraska.com/news/local/tower-falls-in-lincoln Cause as yet unknown, but there were very high winds in Lincoln last week.
  19. Looks like KOTV is trying is getting a bit excessive in promoting their morning show, or anything for that matter. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/10/18/pushing-too-hard
  20. Part of the death of TV is its own doing, like a habitual smoker that has lung cancer but refuses to give it up, partially out of denial that they've done this to themselves. That said, even companies like Sinclair can only keep it up for so long.
  21. To be fair a lot of stations don't have drones.
  22. KSHB also has a drone. Looks like something Scripps is investing in for their stations.
  23. Sounds like there's a secret purge happening at KGBT. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/kgbt-anchors-missing-from-social-media/194942 According to the commenter on the article they kept cutting away from CBS coverage of the Vegas shooting to go to other programming. Also apparently their tag outs reference a convenience store?
  24. 3 people died working on the WSVN/WPLG tower. http://wsvn.com/news/local/3-dead-after-falling-from-television-tower-in-miami-gardens/ (as an aside, the reporter seems very uncomfortable. repeated himself a lot)
  25. Has anyone else noticed that they label everything as "Breaking News"? It just occurred to me tonight, and now I can't stop noticing it. Every. Single. Story. "BREAKING NEWS." Why? An update from a story days ago isn't breaking news, it's an update.
