  1. I don't think so, which is why it was puzzling to me. I've seen them do local news at 6:00 and then do the same broadcast again at 6:30. Again, it made no sense, and they have finally come to their senses to make the 6:00 p.m. format an hour long.
  2. I never understood why the 6pm news and the Evening News were separate in the first place.
  3. This week's celebrity death news keeps getting worse. Now, its Hulk Hogan's time to enter the brotherly heavens. Dead at 71 from cardiac arrest. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/36000835/hulk-hogan-dead-wwe/

  4. WAVE Louisville will soon have to give up local coverage of the Kentucky Oaks because next year, for the first time ever, its going national, in primetime, on NBC. https://www.nbcsports.com/pressbox/press-releases/for-first-time-ever-nbc-sports-to-present-kentucky-oaks-in-primetime-friday-may-1-2026-on-nbc-and-peacock
  5. 106.3 WUUB, the ESPN Radio station owned by Good Karma Brands in WPB, has changed its callsign to WESP. The request took place on April 11th, granted by the FCC on April 17th, and became effective on April 28th. Its the closest ESPN Radio station to Miami since Miami itself doesn't have an affiliate anymore (WQAM has Infinity Sports and WINZ has FOX Sports). https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/dataentry/views/public/fmDraftCopy?displayType=html&appKey=25076ff3961a34fd0196253ca8a808ec&id=25076ff3961a34fd0196253ca8a808ec&goBack=N
  6. A third newscast at 7:00 p.m. is coming to Baltimore. WBAL is launching theirs on September 15th. https://www.adweek.com/tvspy/baltimores-wbal-to-add-evening-newscast-shuffle-meteorologists/
  7. CHSN will temporarily return OTA in Chicago for 7 games the rest of the MLB season via WCIU (posted via T Dog Media on Bluesky).
  8. Nope! That's trash TV programs right there, and I'm glad WPLG didn't pick them up. We don't need those programs here, so no. Not a bad thing.
  9. A big loss in Oregon television is coming up in November... Jeff Gianola's retirement. 43 years on television, 42 of them in Portland. The first 15 years at KATU, and now the last 27 years at KOIN. Not surprising to say that his last newscast will be late November, which sounds more likely he'll retire before Thanksgiving and the holiday season. https://www.adweek.com/tvspy/longtime-portland-anchor-jeff-gianola-to-retire-in-november/
  10. WNWO Toledo vs. Buckeye Broadband. https://www.facebook.com/nbc24wnwo/posts/pfbid0kfCbYjpqpiXz11BGtuiBwWQTfxbp5zsu7H99E2GQTF94UBaDAbKukZ7sbz866LYbl
  11. Posted on LuAnne Surrell's Facebook page... the new WOFL/WRBW set. Debuted on Monday (at the time I post this).
  12. Bringing this back from the dead because for the upcoming UFL season... four teams are being relocated. Michigan, Houston, Birmingham, and Memphis are OUT, Boise, Columbus (Ohio), Florida (likely Orlando), and Kentucky (either Louisville or Lexington) are IN. https://pfnewsroom.com/news/ufl-to-relocate-four-markets-for-the-2026-season/
  13. Sinclair once again operates KBSI Cape Girardeau and WDKA Paducah. They've purchased the non-license assets of the two as Standard Media (under Community News Group) continues to own them. However, there's an option in the future for Sinclair to also own both, not just operate. https://sbgi.net/sinclair-acquires-assets-of-wdka-in-paduca-ky-and-kbsi-in-cape-girardeau-mo/
  14. Also, I'll add that WPLG's last 10pm news for WSFL will be Fri., Aug. 1st as they've stopped doing the weekend 10pm for some time there. WSFL already has Morning Rush from Scripps News and that'll go from 8-10am. Two new programs from the streamer will be added, including Today As It Happened at 6pm (hour-long) and The National Report at 11pm (also hour-long). The former of the two will push Inside South Florida, WSFL's only locally-produced show, to 5:30pm.
  15. PBS News Hour sent a statement last night at the end of the broadcast... They're here to stay. And good for them.
  16. To clarify his post above... WFIE launched a new brand at 12 Noon today. Except... its not a new brand. Temporary? Maybe, but currently unsure. I checked Zeam and the later 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 p.m. newscasts... it still goes by 14 News, so I wouldn't go full gorilla on this change just yet.
  17. I have 42 Nexstar stations (not counting WFRV) that are left in launching their own OTT apps.
  18. New Zealand WBD is getting out of the Kiwi. Sky TV (a different Sky from the UK one, Italian, and German ones, and entirely different from the Australian news channel) is buying Discovery NZ, the owners of Three, for only..... $1. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/business/567627/sky-tv-to-buy-three-owner-discovery-nz-for-1
  19. It shows the kind of impact you made when you're still remembered after you passed away. That's Elise Finch and WCBS remembered this last week two years after her passing. What a continued sweet gesture.
  20. I didn't know about this until now... apparently at some point this year, Gray and Sinclair filed with the FCC to swap stations and have since been consummated. South Bend: Sinclair now owns both WSBT and WSJV. Peoria: Gray now owns both WEEK and WHOI. I'm not expecting them to go back to their former affiliation days (WSJV goes back to FOX and WHOI goes back to ABC), but this is interesting nonetheless but happened under the radar.
  21. Canada I tried to find a place to put the link here, but I didn't know where, so it's landing here, and it's about sports on TV for a change. CBC Television will broadcast the first-ever Northern Super League (Canada's women's pro soccer league) Final. That'll take place on November 15th. TSN (English) and RDS (French) will also carry it with international coverage on ESPN+ and NSL's YouTube page. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/northern-super-league-final-cbc-bmo-fiield-1.7588733
  22. Resurrecting this from the dead because this old package still lives on... on Blue Ridge Communications' weeknight local newscast at 5:00pm for the Poconos. EDIT: Also, for a cable company, they have a decent set.
  23. Known for some time, today was retirement day for KSDK's Kay Quinn after 36 years.
  24. No they're not. Just because KCRG is using Enforcer now, doesn't mean they'll use CBS Local come GrayONE. More than likely, Gray will be switching them to either Unite, Ascend, or some other SAM package that's not CBS-themed.
  25. 39 years ago: history was made. The event that made KARE 11 and Paul Douglas famous. The event that turned KARE 11 from a laughstock to a contender in the ratings in the Twin Cities.
