I think WPLG only has a news bureau left in D.C., but has closed everywhere else, including Cuba and Colombia.

So they're going the WJXT route when they first went Independent and had Eyewitness World News for a short time. However, they may also look to KHON's Hawaii's World Report for some inspiration.

This is a reminder that the newest Independent television station (the first of three, coming within a two-month span) begins next Tuesday. Yes, WFTS' chief now has his own program, moving from streaming to weeknights at 7:30 p.m. Other weekday highlights in this TL;DR version include (according to TampaBay66.com; forgive me for this list, but its to drive a point to showcase a little mixture of everything for WXPX starting next week)... A live simulcast of WFTS' 4:30-6:00am, 7:00-8:00am (already done by streaming), 9:00-10:00am, hour-long noon, and half-hour 7:00pm newscasts. A delayed rebroadcast of WFTS' half-hour weeknight 6:00 and 11:00pm newscasts by 30 minutes (6:30 and 11:30pm, respectively). Some Scripps News programs, mainly in the morning (The National Report at 6:00am and the Morning Rush at 8:00 and 10:00am) but also in the afternoon (Scripps News On The Scene at 4:00 and Happening NOW in America at 5:00pm). Tampa Bay's Morning Blend gets a double dose of airing, just like WFTS (11:00am and 12 Midnight on WXPX as opposed to 10:00am and 1:07am on WFTS). The Jason Show from KMSP-TV Minneapolis will make its Tampa Bay debut at 1:00pm. The only syndicated programs that I see, outside of primetime, are Inside Edition (6:00pm), ES.TV (11:00pm), and Sports Wrap with Jason Page (1:00am). Oh, and don't forget, Tampa Bay Lightning games in the fall, too. That's why WXPX will become what it is: The Spot - Tampa Bay 66.

Update Just like all other big-name journalists recently (i.e. Jim Acosta, Joy Reid, Don Lemon, etc.), Jorge Ramos is going independent as well. He recently launched a Substack and has launched a new program, Asi Veo Las Cosas (This Is How I See Things). This is the first episode with Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.):

I think Dr. Phil is realizing how hard it is to run such a network like this. His flagship program is on pause, the evening news is on pause, and 40 employees laid off again. Merit TV seems to be in such financial trouble. Not to mention the backlash against airing all those ICE raids. https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/tarrant-county/dr-phil-primetime-summer-hiatus-layoffs/287-d79bc36e-f954-4325-885a-668e5457892b

I hate to bring up a 2018 post but since then, she started a company with her husband. But now, instead of saying goodbye to a TV news career and a hello to a new business, she'll possibly instead say hello to a prison cell. Found guilty on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud but found not guilty on four counts of wire fraud. In Arizona, that one count could mean 20 years in federal prison for Hockridge and three years of supervised release. She finds out at sentencing on October 10th. Her fiancé will stand trial in August for the same charges. https://www.abc15.com/news/local-news/investigations/blueacorn-ex-news-anchor-found-guilty-of-conspiracy-not-guilty-on-other-charges?fbclid=PAQ0xDSwLDIbBleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABp-cPVF_Sr9e2BRP3CPQL66Uzs7jl2RNKRg9qJGljSEEJOAiuWRKVDC706nWZ_aem_YtX2zJFdO9zFPWIrah9K7Q

Two things to cover... That's it for Bob Brackeen. After a 35+-year career in TV, with a good chunk at KTEN, he is retiring and today is his last day. https://www.facebook.com/mandybaileywx/posts/bobs-last-day-at-kten-he-is-retiring-after-35-years-in-tv-congratulations/1236556987842109/ After 11 years at WINK, and 8 on the morning show, Lindsey Sablan will be leaving the station tomorrow with Taylor Petras taking her place. https://www.facebook.com/CoreyLazarwinknews/posts/yes-it-is-true-my-partner-in-crime-lindsey-sablan-wink-is-heading-out-and-leavin/1159502542648614/

Canada Sophie Thibault is anchoring her final newscast at TVA Nouvelles as we speak, as it was announced in February that she will be retiring, and today is her last day. Julie Marcoux moves in from 12 Noon to take over at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. Philippe-Vincent Foisy takes over at 12 Noon, and Pierre-Olivier Zappa remains at 10:00 p.m. https://news.az/news/journalist-julie-marcoux-will-succeed-sophie-thibault

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh okay. I got confused. I think he meant 4 am-7 pm, outside of GH on WABC-TV, all coming from 7 Hudson Square. Yes... that is true.

I did some research... according to this website, TVTaping.com, Tamron Hall tapes her show at 8:15 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. In other words, there's a 2-4 pm break, I assume. https://www.tvtaping.com/tvshows/tamron-hall

For some markets, that means local news in timeslots that wasn't available before, even if it's only on streaming (WNEP and KWES, for example).- 3735 replies

All KTTC newscasts are already seen on KMNF with the exception of 6 and 10pm weeknights, I believe as simulcasts of KEYC. (KTTC's 5pm is not seen there.)

Nothing on social media either. Thankfully, there is a site called LinkedIn. According to the site, she has indeed left FOX Weather and is now a Territory Manager (whatever that means) for a company called Esperion.

KGTV San Diego just moved World News Tonight on weeknights to 5:30 p.m., ending a 22-year run (starting in 2003) of carrying WNT in the 6:30 timeslot. The 6:00 pm news is now an hour and thus gives KGTV two 90-minute local news blocks in the early evening. The first from 4:00-5:30 and another from 6:00-7:30 p.m. It also ends an era in San Diego as, at one point, all three network newscasts aired in different timeslots with KNSD's at 5:30, KFMB's at 6:00, and KGTV's at 6:30. That changed when KFMB moved theirs a few years back to 5:30 (more likely did so after TEGNA started owning them), and now KGTV just did the same for theirs.

Australia ABC is in the middle of converting ABC Entertains and ABC News to high-definition (I know, right? In 2025?). It has started doing so in Tasmania (ABT; home to Hobart) and South Australia (ABS; home to Adelaide) and is doing a staged roll-out to the upcoming states across the country: Tuesday, June 17th - Western Australia (ABW; home to Perth) and Northern Territory (ABD; home to Darwin) Thursday, June 19th - Queensland (ABQ; home to Brisbane) Tuesday, June 24th - New South Wales (ABN; home to Sydney) and Australian Capital Territory (ABC; home to Canberra) Thursday, June 26th - Victoria (ABV; home to Melbourne) ABC will continue to offer ABC TV in SD and HD as well as ABC Kids/ABC Family in SD. https://help.abc.net.au/hc/en-us/articles/12564144195855-ABC-NEWS-Channel-and-ABC-Entertains-is-moving-to-HD-in-June?fbclid=IwY2xjawK4enhleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFQNmRLQlVyWHBIQlJwbDlXAR7tClm1QTAAO3Vw4L5Ytu0eVWbtcLannqsrYeA6EJixoigO6ewZSsNDkLsX_A_aem_YF7iK_JVHoK0ZSchQicppQ

Fox Television Stations - General Thread

I am shocked. I've always thought of WAGA's, WJW's, and KXAN's teams as the pillar of investigative journalism today. To think WAGA shut theirs down will create a chilling effect across Atlanta. WSB and WANF might scoop them up if they wanted to. -
