Before I go deep into wild speculation....here's my thoughts on where the Dispatch stations COULD end up...

 

VERY unlikely: Nexstar, Sinclair, Tribune

Somewhat likely: Raycom, Gray, Scripps, Graham, Cox, BH Media

VERY likely: Tegna, Hearst, Meredith

 

In a perfect world, I still would like to see Dispatch join forces with either CBC/Raleigh, Griffin, or both. THAT would be a merger for the ages.

Scripps can't because they have WRTV ABC 6 in Indy

I agree. And it's not just Boston. It's all over the country.

 

These crazy news expansions have been extremely ridiculous. And what's worst, some stations will gloat about having more hours of news then any other station in promos. It doesn't make the content of your newscast (or your station as a whole) any better, if you just keep on getting rid of other programming and replacing it with news. If news is all you show, then that would give viewers (and even non-news viewers) a reason to change the channel.

I'm so grateful stations here in Grand Rapids haven't gone to utter extremes... It's bad enough that the news they report, let's say at 5pm is the same news that's exactly the same content at 6pm... This is why I HATE news in general... It's basically iTunes with the repeat button stuck on 1 track... Unless some of these stations actually puts efforts into making each 1/2 hour segment interesting and separate from the others...

WPTZ is now branding as "NBC 5." Guessing the timing was meant to coincide with the Olympics.

Yes, and it's unlikely that KFOR will get a new set until the new building is constructed. I should have elaborated that what Wes Milbourne inferred was that preparations were ongoing at the site of the new facility in the lead-up to the start of the main construction process. So it took almost two years to get construction on the new KFOR/KAUT building to even begin.

Maybe it was the current set/building's way of telling KFOR to hurry the heck up with the new building.. Could be a giant fire trap before too long :-P
