1. Disney locked out all NABET/CWA union workers in the winter of 1998. All ABC O&O's It was a giant friggin, messy long labor dispute.
2. The last time WABC had in-field security was during the 1998/1999 ABC lockout. Security cost money, and they also need transportation cuz you really don't want big fat bubba stinking up the live truck, and taking the jump seat. And to be totally realistic... The cabbies and delivery drivers of NYC and most big cities put up with 10 times the bullshit that a TV reporter does. You don't see them asking for private security. Lets face it... The WDBJ shooter would have NOT been stopped by an unarmed security guard. The guard would have been a victim also. And let me save you all from the argument about un-armed security guards and TV stations.... A station would NEVER assign an armed guard to a regular security detail for the fear that they would shoot someone. LIABILITY my friends.
3. Some TV station should investigate this.
4. The offense is a simple battery. In NYC it's a simple desk summons, and that's only if the victim want's to file a complaint. Does anyone really think WABC want's him to pursue this any further. Disclaimer: I am not licensed to practice law in the state of New York.
5. Overall TV viewership is up...way up! OTT, streaming , nteflix, slapface, tablets, smartphones.... the networks get pieces of it...nobody is hurting. Trust me... It's just shifted, and the chase is on.
6. Depends on what show you are talking about. GMA and Today MAY have dropped as much as -13% whereas CBSTM was only down -4 %. No one source has definitive numbers on the viewership drop...so it's best to use the many, many different available sources.
7. Oh crap... Here we go.... (I sense the "L" word is going to apply.)
8. That's how you break a hip.
9. Oh and what do you want to bet the old celebs "go off" tonight and get all stupid and drunk...and the there will be the tweets... OH GOD THE TWEETS!!!~! Order some pizza for the newsroom cuz it's gonna be a looooong night.
10. Well the kids on the reef tell me those push alerts are a big deal. It's all about "Mommy Dollars"..."mommy attitude" and "social media mommy". Holy sardines it gets annoying. I agree on the ratings thing, I would also add that there may be the Megan factor creeping into her head and she is worried. The hens need to nest...lay out straw...drink some wine...and get ready for Ms. Megan. Ya think they all may be walking on eggshells??? (cluck, cluck, crack)
11. He was a fine man and had many friends. He will be missed.
12. It IS effective immediately... Immediately after sweeps.
13. No matter who ends up with them...Tribune will be gutted further. Any real estate left?
14. Spectrum-Guzzeling??? That's classic! (almost nasty) Please let me steal or reuse that term.
15. RKO hit's it on the head... In the olden daze it was easy to move cameras across the hall to another studio. Both shared the same control room(s) and just a few punches of the routing switcher...or a jack switch solved the problem. Now. most studios are "purpose built". Some studios use robotics and some don't. Some have lots of modern crazy goo-goo electronics in the chain...while others are straight forward. Moving sets, minor studio configuration changes and a bunch of other stupid stuff triggers the PERMIT process. Permits cost money and time and architects, and beetle counters, and fish squeezers....blady blady blaaaaa.. Anyway... In my non-human, non- professional opinion, and based on my first hand observations at WABC I conclude that "Live" should have moved out of WABC a long friakin time ago....like 20 years ago. Life at EWN NYC would be much nicer with "those people" gone.
16.
I know @Eat News doesn't need anyone to come to his defense but he is quite knowledgeable and knows things inside and out of the San Diego market. So if he isn't in the biz he has a ton of sources. .
I guess "Nobody(friggin bogan)" didn't bother to look at my super excellent profile. He didn't notice I'm a major friggin big-shot at KBEX-TV. I eat losers like him for lunch.....well snacks. I like snacks! Now go stick yer thing in an urchin.
17. Actually just a plain, simple statement of fact. "It's not configured that way"... If anyone cares to dispute that fact then have at it. ...and.... ....and... and.....and...
18. It's not configured for that.
19. Get a room!
20. I'm not allowed to play with my food. It freaks-out the tourist at La Jolla Cove.
21. You must have us confused with medialine.com
22. Seriously ... I don't know a single regular poster here that claims to be in the TV biz... I see a lot of people with some good working knowledge of the biz here....but nobody dumb enough to admit to being so fucking stupid as to work in TV news. What kind of dumb ass would do that?
23. The slowest seal has the least flavor... In the mean time... here is exclusive video of some of my dolphin friends getting high on puffers.
