RKO hit's it on the head... In the olden daze it was easy to move cameras across the hall to another studio. Both shared the same control room(s) and just a few punches of the routing switcher...or a jack switch solved the problem. Now. most studios are "purpose built". Some studios use robotics and some don't. Some have lots of modern crazy goo-goo electronics in the chain...while others are straight forward. Moving sets, minor studio configuration changes and a bunch of other stupid stuff triggers the PERMIT process. Permits cost money and time and architects, and beetle counters, and fish squeezers....blady blady blaaaaa.. Anyway... In my non-human, non- professional opinion, and based on my first hand observations at WABC I conclude that "Live" should have moved out of WABC a long friakin time ago....like 20 years ago. Life at EWN NYC would be much nicer with "those people" gone.
I know @Eat News doesn't need anyone to come to his defense but he is quite knowledgeable and knows things inside and out of the San Diego market. So if he isn't in the biz he has a ton of sources. .
I guess "Nobody(friggin bogan)" didn't bother to look at my super excellent profile. He didn't notice I'm a major friggin big-shot at KBEX-TV. I eat losers like him for lunch.....well snacks. I like snacks! Now go stick yer thing in an urchin.

Actually just a plain, simple statement of fact. "It's not configured that way"... If anyone cares to dispute that fact then have at it. ...and.... ....and... and.....and...

It's not configured for that.

Seriously ... I don't know a single regular poster here that claims to be in the TV biz... I see a lot of people with some good working knowledge of the biz here....but nobody dumb enough to admit to being so fucking stupid as to work in TV news. What kind of dumb ass would do that?

They are also replacing the Sportscasters with Landscapers/Sportscasters. It's like an MMJ with hedge clippers.

Union Vote, 1st Ld Telemundo Performers To Hold Union Vote . LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Performers at the Spanish-language network Telemundo will begin voting today on whether to join SAG-AFTRA. A simple majority is needed to approve representation by the union, which represents approximately 160,000 actors, broadcast journalists and other media professionals. Voting will be conducted by mail through March 8. SAG-AFTRA submitted petitions to the National Labor Relations Board on Dec. 9, seeking an election. Telemundo employs 1,900 people around the world. ``We are excited to have the opportunity to vote and create a working environment that is fair for everyone in our industry,'' said Katie Barberi, an actress with roles in multiple telenovelas. ``We are proud of Telemundo's success, and we believe SAG-AFTRA representation will make it an even better network in the future.'' The unionization effort has drawn the support of Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, Chris Rock, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Scarlett Johansson and Bryan Cranston. ``This vote is about equity, fairness and the fundamental rights of Spanish-speaking actors in this industry and in our country,'' SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris said. ``We have given Telemundo performers our full support as they take this courageous step, and we look forward to welcoming them to our family.''

Actually there is some real news here. It was sold to a real estate developer... Who presumably will develop the site for a profit...and NOT lease out an almost 60 year old plant for the long term. You can move WGN(and friends) into a 50,000 sqf state of the art plant for a fraction of the cost over the long term. WGN= Future HOA? I do not believe the WGN press release stating they are there for the "long term"...not for 1 second. Developers don't sit on 60yo TV stations, I give WGN 3-5 yrs before they move.

Scripps hires for one thing, but everyone kinda ends up doing everything. BTW Mimi already earned her super secret news handle/ radio code name... "Sphinx" The code names are a "Term of endearment" and is decided by a secret drunken committee from San Diego Press Club, SPJ and Deja Girls (Midway Drive). Not all reporters are lucky enough to have a secret code name.

I hope Renee is OK. I kinda started crushing on her after a few months. Kaylina Astrinos was brought in from Bako where she got her first TV gig. Before that she was doing traffic for TTN and filling in for Angel Martinez on KFI and on Conway's show. She is capable...but like all Scripps hires she is still very green out in the field, and KGTV has wayyyyy toooo many greenies out there right now. As far as Marie Coronel It's going to be up to the lawyers... No lawsuit have been filed as of yet, but should KGTV really be on the hook for all of this??? That's the elephant in the newsroom that NOBODY at KGTV want's to discuss. Ya see KGTV paid her to cover a dangerous storm where it was known that very well known trees had fallen down on cars and crap. There may even be cops and firefighters willing to testify that she and her photog were both advised to be careful of falling trees. Marie and photog will testify that KGTV Mgmt encouraged them to "be bold" and "think out of the box" for sexy active staud-ups. See where there could be a little issue? She has to be way out of her contract by now so Scripps would love to dump that paper. KGTV didn't tell them to stand under a friggin tree and get crushed like a bunch of grapes. Granted both were wearing the required green safety vest so they could be found quickly by the local arborist. I think she is (was) already done at KGTV before the incident...both sides are looking for a "graceful" exit...but both sides are kinda equally screwed. Who's gonna pay those continued bills.... Stay tuned....
