  1. John Christopher Burns at his finest. I hope the open using “Primetime News” can be found at some point... I assume he might have it somewhere on his tapes... Here are some more WESH snippets from 1980:
  2. Anyone willing to guess what WITI’s 1984 theme music is? I’m guessing Terry Sweet, since he did have plenty of image campaigns from that station.
  3. That open resembles WNEM’s from the time. I wonder if WNEM’s open looked exactly like that only blue colored, and with “Allegro” and Paul Turner.
  4. Looks like Pannoni beat ewjxn to uploading KTSM’s newscast:
  5. I showed that commercial to my mom and she says she recognizes that male voiceover. I wonder... I doubt it, but maybe one of the Albany stations used him? I know WRGB had Charlie Van Dyke, WNYT always used Ed Hopkins, and WTEN had Dude Walker, and then that other unidentified WTVO voiceover guy... I wonder how you can identify voiceovers... Anyway I know I posted this before, but has anyone found out that WTVC used “Tuesday3”?
  6. It’s possible that maybe KVUE commissioned this theme and not WNDU or WKRC... just a thought. Here’s an open from four years prior... pretty bland and basic.
  7. It’s Production Music: Action News by FirstCom. It was also heard on WNWO after the switch to NBC in 1995 as well as WOI in Des Moines. As for that “Sundown” clip, Gary Essex must’ve jumped to KUSA (then KBTV) very quickly, as two months earlier he was working at KTVY:
  8. I think it’s worth knowing how much rare KMGH we’ve found this year. We went from there being very little from this Station to a ton more good stuff. Here’s what I call a KMGH timeline from the 80s: 1980?-1982 - This era was found in a KMGH blooper reel and a VHSgoodiesWA video of a news close. They used an unnamed theme and a “7” that looks like it’s 3D. Logopedia for some reason says this logo was used in 1972-1974. They also debuted Roger Thompson in what is possibly his first VO work. 1982-1983 - That very circle 7 we just saw in the video I posted, around the same time they began using “And You” and “Signature News”. This couldn’t have been long as by April 1983 they debuted the next logo. 1983-1984 - This was when they debuted the half-circle 7 and kept it for 9 years. 1984-1985/86 - “And You” is dropped in favor of “Turn To News”, but we still have “News 7” as the branding. This must’ve debuted when Jim Redmond became anchor. 1985/86-1987 - This is the era of the Newsmat set and graphics, and name change to “KMGH 7 News”. Charlie Van Dyke becomes voiceover. 1987-Early 1989 - The “Great News” era, same set and branding. 1989-1990 - “Great News” is replaced with the 1989 Theme music, around the time Ernie Bjorkman replaced Redmond.
  9. ANOTHER undiscovered era of KMGH?!
  10. Don’t know why they never got posted, but here’s some KLAS promos and IDs voiced by that infamous unknown male voiceover — the station ID is the same one heard in the open on the NMSA. Wonder if this YouTuber has that actual open?
  11. ewjxn’s got more goodies up his sleeve — from El Paso?!
  12. WNYW’s been using the same open and VO since 2012...
  13. Introducing... the TV-6 Focus Team!
  14. Is that Ron Rolland or that same VO heard in this WSET open?
  15. Has this ever been posted? Either way this is still cool to watch considering how rare KTVK stuff is from the early to mid ‘80s. This also shows their ID from the following set of opens (Arizona’s News People) debuted in 1984, as well as a “Turn To” promo.
  16. So who replaced him then? Chapin? If so that would be really cool if I could see an open from that time period, would bring back childhood memories. My parents always watched News 10’s noon news at the time. That KFSN open is clearly a knockoff of KABC’s at the time, as was their previous open (which copied KABC’s early ‘87 ID and WABC’s open from ‘87 to ‘94.)
  17. He probably should’ve stayed in retirement!
  18. Some WTEN news clips from 2006 - not sure if this was after they ditched Chris Clausen and Primetime News as the open is clipped - I do notice the L3’s are from the “Momentum News” era though... Also this was taken about a month before Terry McSweeney left the station to go back out west.
  19. A WNYT weather report from the early ‘90s...using that same syndicated graphics package as some stations like WOI, WAPT and KTVI. Typical Viacom — they always used syndicated GFX for their stations.
  20. A WGNX sign-off voiced by the one & only.
  21. Where can I find the news open that corresponds to that theme besides the NMSA? It seems like that WQAD’s NMSA page has a lot of opens that can’t be found on YouTube. Who composed KMTV’s themes from that era? I recall when I posted that in the Classic Video Thread back in August someone said “Chip Davis of Manheim Steamroller” composed it. Anyway I’d love to hear a clean copy of those themes.
  22. I clicked on the link to the E.Q. site and for some reason the Broadcast Package Samples and Animation Demo and they didn’t show up. Also they said their first client was WFAA - was this a one-off package or are they talking about this?
