Yeah they were using tight shots in front of a smaller video wall. The news and weather reports shared the video wall.

Yes they switched to these on Monday.  Other NBC O7Os do this.  The white flag was the more striking aspect.  They said that there would be a lot of integration between the two newsrooms.  About 2 weeks ago a T47 reporter did a report on NBC4.  It makes sense.

Anyone notice this week that they have not been using mic flags (not the old 4 or the white joint 4 and 47 flags)?  They also used another bi-lingual reporter, Axel Turcios tonight.  His instagram account indicates he works for both stations.

Were you sure?  I wouldn't include the joint WNBC/WCAU reporter Ted Greenberg's report.  Tonight (Monday) no mic flags again.  Not sure what's going on.

I know what I saw!  And why not Ted Greenberg's reports be included?  He's reporting for WNBC and therefore properly should show such identification!

 

My point was if Greenberg can use the 4/47 Flag, why can't the local reporters?

You are right, Ted was the only one using the mic flag. This morning and none of the reporters were using mic flags.

It actually makes the most sense for him not using one.  There must be an explanation considering they just rolled out the white ones.

Watching the 5 pm now.  Some reporters are using wireless lapel mics.  Others, mics with no flags.  Ted Greenberg used the white 4/47 flag.  A real mix.

Forgive the reasonable explanation, but in a 2025 world of laptops and using internet to send in video, and running with the assumption at least some photogs who live outside of the city have take home vehicles, a new mic flag roll out might take a while, especially in New York. The potential overtime cost or lost productivity of getting everyone to 30 Rock quickly to do a unilateral rollout isn't worth it for how inconsequential a new look microphone flag is to getting the job done. 

 

The mic flag as the primary way of reminding viewers of what station they are watching is a dinosaur leftover from the pre always-on station logo bug days.

WNBC has been live continuously since early this morning.as well as on streaming platforms and their app.  It just hit the 12 hour mark. CBS is the most bewildering. They had been in and out until the pregame show which started three hours before game time.  I understand their NFL commitment.  It seems they are now streaming but why not use WLIW 10/55 rather than at first simulcasting WCBS pregame and then cheap programming and infomercials?  I am not advocating preempting the AFC championship game in the slightest. Sometimes doing a public service is more important than informercials.  The decisions of Paramount Skydance,  Ch. 5 is simulcasting on Ch. 9.  11 is on now too.  Just bewildering.

At least WCBS has WLNY 10/55 "New York 55", but some people online have complained how some stations are displaying weather coverage during the game

You would figure that WCBS and WNYW are in the best positions for news and weather events, given their duopolies.

 

WCBS did have a 7pm newscast on WLNY, but the fact they did not utilize it for additional coverage is bewildering.

 

Considering WNBC does not utilize digital subchannels for overflow programming, they blew right through the afternoon national programming, which probably would not have gotten huge ratings anyway.
