MorningNews 1711 Posted June 21, 2025 Posted June 21, 2025 Yeah they were using tight shots in front of a smaller video wall. The news and weather reports shared the video wall. Â Some tech issue in the main studio I guess. 1
NowBergen 924 Posted June 21, 2025 Posted June 21, 2025 I don’t know. I turned it on at 5 and thought it was the wrong station due to ads.  1
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted July 1, 2025 Posted July 1, 2025 Happy 84th birthday to the country's oldest-running commercial television station... who just happened to be on the air an hour before WCBW (now WCBS) did. 2 1

They said that there would be a lot of integration between the two newsrooms.  About 2 weeks ago a T47 reporter did a report on NBC4.  It makes sense. 1

NowBergen 924 Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 Anyone notice this week that they have not been using mic flags (not the old 4 or the white joint 4 and 47 flags)? Â They also used another bi-lingual reporter, Axel Turcios tonight. Â His instagram account indicates he works for both stations.

The potential overtime cost or lost productivity of getting everyone to 30 Rock quickly to do a unilateral rollout isn't worth it for how inconsequential a new look microphone flag is to getting the job done.  The mic flag as the primary way of reminding viewers of what station they are watching is a dinosaur leftover from the pre always-on station logo bug days. 2 1 1

NowBergen 924 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 WNBC has been live continuously since early this morning.as well as on streaming platforms and their app. Â It just hit the 12 hour mark. CBS is the most bewildering. They had been in and out until the pregame show which started three hours before game time. Â I understand their NFL commitment. Â It seems they are now streaming but why not use WLIW 10/55 rather than at first simulcasting WCBS pregame and then cheap programming and infomercials? Â I am not advocating preempting the AFC championship game in the slightest. Sometimes doing a public service is more important than informercials. Â The decisions of Paramount Skydance, Â Ch. 5 is simulcasting on Ch. 9. Â 11 is on now too. Â Just bewildering.

civic110 20 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 (edited) You would figure that WCBS and WNYW are in the best positions for news and weather events, given their duopolies.  WCBS did have a 7pm newscast on WLNY, but the fact they did not utilize it for additional coverage is bewildering.  Considering WNBC does not utilize digital subchannels for overflow programming, they blew right through the afternoon national programming, which probably would not have gotten huge ratings anyway.  In other WNBC related news...  ‘Produce Pete,' a weekend mainstay on NBC New York for more than 30 years, dies at 80  https://www.nbcnewyork.com/on-air/as-seen-on/produce-pete/produce-pete-napolitano-dies-at-80/6450239/ Edited January 27 by civic110 1
