Vlad 334 Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 That video couldn't have been WABC's situation haha. Thanks for sharing that Brian! Looks like things are escalating between Edwards and Benhke https://pagesix.com/2018/05/31/former-wabc-sports-reporter-takes-discrimination-case-to-federal-court/?_ga=2.26759550.259022365.1527861817-376108794.1526587144 5
CircleSeven 1960 Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Former WABC sports anchor Samantha Ryan is doing sports tonight. She was on at 5pm.

CircleSeven 1960 Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Duh...I’m confused. She was the weekend sports anchor in the early 2000s.
RGSJenkins 435 Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Duh...I’m confused. She was the weekend sports anchor in the early 2000s. Weekend news on WABC starts at 5pm if no sports is playing; Sam Ryan used to be on the MLB Network. 3
Newsjunker95 32 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Former WABC sports anchor Samantha Ryan is doing sports tonight. She was on at 5pm. Any sources ? 1
CircleSeven 1960 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Any sources ? I watched the station's live stream last week. But here's the station's mention.
Roadgeek Adam 170 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Not to mention. 2
jwertheim 1 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 So is Anthony Johnson done as the weekend Sports Reporter?
CircleSeven 1960 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 So is Anthony Johnson done as the weekend Sports Reporter? Not sure. But I've always thought he only did it on an interim basis. 2
ns8401 957 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Any sources ? Wouldn’t watching the 5pm news be source enough? 2
Roadgeek Adam 170 Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 It would seem like Sam Ryan is freelancing, much like Andy Field. The posting is still up for the Weekend Sports Anchor and she's not on the website. 3
mooneyhilltvny 5 Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Today is the day that WABC-TV Channel 7 is turning 70 years old. You remember the on-air news anchor faces including Scott Vincent, Roger Grimsby, Tom Dunn, Bill Beutel, Gil Noble, Ernie Anastos, Kaity Tong, Tom Snyder, John Johnson, Roz Abrams, John Marler, Rolanda Watts, Greg Hurst, and others... You remember the on-air news reporting faces including Mark Haines, Carol Iovanna, Doug Johnson, Rosanna Scotto, Jay DeDapper, Dorothy Lucey, Art McFarland, Lara Spencer, Judy Licht, and others... You remember the on-air weather team faces including Lynn Dollar, Storm Field, Ira Joe Fisher, and Sam Champion. And you remember the on-air sports team faces including Howard Cosell, Spencer Christian, Jerry Azar, Corey McFerrin, Eli Zaret, Scott Clark, Mark Stevens, and Marvel Scott. The station was launched 70 years ago today, when the station's call letters at the time was WJZ-TV, and it's call letters WABC-TV has been since 1953. And today after 70 years, Channel 7 is still New York's #1 television station, and the #1 television station in America. So happy 70th anniersary, WABC-TV!!! 5
mountainave 606 Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Lauren Glassberg has been substitute anchoring far more often recently than she typically had in the past. Wonder if it's a contract renewal stipulation for her, or if they're short staffed with summer vacations. On another note, Sade is going to slowly return to the 5:00 pm show next month per Bill Ritter. 3

Let's not forget a bigger anniversary if you ask me: November 17 is the 50th anniversary of the Eyewitness News format thanks to Mr. Al Primo. I've been working my brains off on a spreadsheet of every non-freelance staff member in WABC history since 11-17-68. It's been an insane amount of work. 1

Roadgeek Adam 170 Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 I've been unemployed for 15 months, one of the many things that's kept me busy. 5
Roadgeek Adam 170 Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 So, something interesting, be it very grotesque, on tonight's news. Channel 7 covered a grotesque murder of a mother in the Bronx. Then, Josh Einiger noted that this family had dealt with an issue like this before. They flip to video of Jeff Pegues and Liz Cho from 2006 covering it, when the victim's mother was brutally murdered. While it is nice to see Jeff Pegues and Liz Cho get a throwback moment, man this was creepy. 1
