I've noticed WABC using the video wall behind the anchors to display graphics.

That's from last week. Today they had Eyewitness News at Noon behind them.

they did this a bit before the pandemic.. looks like they’re trying it again and capitalizing on the distancing at the desk.

No, and in reporting about the stations new LI bureau at Hofstra, he was identified as “president of WABC and ABC Owned Television Stations”.

I believe WABC is also operating without a news director since Rehan Aslam underwent emergency surgery last year and is still recovering and on medical leave.

Was a new WABC President/GM ever named after Chad Matthews was promoted to lead ABC O&Os earlier this year?  Haven't seen any announcements.

The WABC President/GM position is posted on the WABC and Disney career websites.

While Mr. Aslam continues on medical leave, the news department is being run by two Assistant News Directors who are long time station veterans, along with the input and counsel, when necessary, of Mr. Matthews.

One of whom is Kim Dillon, longtime producer at the station who was recently promoted to AND.

Doesn’t seem like it.  Ryan Field posted these photos from that area on Friday when the Stanley Cup visited ABC7 for a promo shoot and he also did Monday’s 6pm sports report from that area.

Thanks. Today they resumed using the video wall for weather and traffic reports.

Ryan Field was supposed to go skydiving on a segment for WABC's annual "summer kickoff" special (airs every Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend), but the plane couldn't take off due to weather. They ended up sending him to iFly in Paramus instead. 😂

Great to see WABC continuing to promote station veterans with backgrounds in news to leadership positions. I’m sure she’ll be great and is likely now on a fast track to other executive positions within Disney!

Same for this evening. Not COVID related as he was at charity event in Central Park on Saturday.

I’m surprised it supposedly isn’t COVID-related, given that the other anchors (at least from what I’ve seen) are distanced on the desk together, rather than being in separate studios.

Bill likely has a very close exposure and needs to be separated if he’s not able to wear a mask. That’s a WABC policy.

I’ve seen that a few times the past few weeks. He mentioned it’ll be more often through the summer months again
