ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted April 29, 2018 Author Posted April 29, 2018 That's not a knockoff. That's the real package. They just don't have Gotham installed on their CG machines. WNEM is the real deal? No!! No it isn't. 1
TennTV1983 807 Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 That's NOT the real package. Looking at that now, the poorly-done transitional elements and animation are a dead giveaway of a mock-up compared to the original Linear Drift version. 2
MikePulse 319 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Looking at that now, the poorly-done transitional elements and animation are a dead giveaway of a mock-up compared to the original Linear Drift version. Fire the entire graphics department. 5
Info Junkie 1286 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Looking at that now, the poorly-done transitional elements and animation are a dead giveaway of a mock-up compared to the original Linear Drift version. NEVER knock off Linear Drift. NEEEEEVER. 3
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted May 4, 2018 Author Posted May 4, 2018 NEVER knock off Linear Drift. NEEEEEVER. Actually Linear Dirft is a knock off. 1
MidwestTV 1243 Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 That's NOT the real package. It's 11p.m. Why does their open have daytime shots from the middle of the day? 5
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted May 4, 2018 Author Posted May 4, 2018 It's 11p.m. Why does their open have daytime shots from the middle of the day? Because the roll out isn't complete.
MidwestTV 1243 Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Because the roll out isn't complete. And how hard is it to fly a drone or something to shoot footage at night? That seems like a lazy excuse.
Info Junkie 1286 Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 I’m guessing WBOC used the KMTV/KRIS Giant Octopus package and later kept butchering it... 2
TheRolyPoly 2587 Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 I’m guessing WBOC used the KMTV/KRIS Giant Octopus package and later kept butchering it... But for a market that size, WBOC makes it look good.
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted May 6, 2018 Author Posted May 6, 2018 And how hard is it to fly a drone or something to shoot footage at night? That seems like a lazy excuse. There are a LOT of things to coordinate! 3
Ntropolis 599 Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 And how hard is it to fly a drone or something to shoot footage at night? That seems like a lazy excuse. Part 107 FAA regulations state you need a waiver to fly past 30 minutes of civil twilight (30 minutes past sunset). So it’s not crazy impossible, just a little tougher than doing some quick shots with a drone at night. You can always do a nighttime timelapse on the ground... that would look cool 1
hmaxhanson 650 Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 It's 11p.m. Why does their open have daytime shots from the middle of the day? Who cares? I've seen tons of old late news opens that use daytime shots. 6
MikePulse 319 Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Who cares? I've seen tons of old late news opens that use daytime shots. WKMG uses their daytime shots for the weeknight talent opens. (Though they have proper nighttime shots for the weekends)
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 I'm getting a TWC/Spectrum News vibe out of CHCH's news graphics. 2
Info Junkie 1286 Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 You know what I just realized?! WNEM’s 2014 opens are really a knockoff of WFSB’s! Add to that the awful Scripps L3’s. 1

These are derived from WRAL’s graphics that came out eons ago and eventually updated & used until 2016. I forget who did them... I think it was Hothaus or GO 4

MyNewsArchive 197 Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 Quick update about WNEM's graphics. They have recently ditch their "knockoff" gfx and switch to the CBS O&O GFX. It's a huge improvement than before . OLD: NEW 5
Journalist 894 Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 I'm getting a TWC/Spectrum News vibe out of CHCH's news graphics. Oh man, how was this missed? CHCH launched their graphics in 2014, long before Spectrum. Quick update about WNEM's graphics. They have recently ditch their "knockoff" gfx and switch to the CBS O&O GFX. It's a huge improvement than before . OLD: NEW Intro's like night and day.

Info Junkie 1286 Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 This isn’t really a bad open graphics-wise, but when you use the voice of tabloid TV news alongside a very mellow-sounding news theme, you get a very mis-matched news open. Hubbard would later make more bad choices for their TV stations’ imaging in the years to come: 2
Yankees4life 563 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 KVVU TV's logo is a ripoff of WNYW's old logo 5
T.L. Hughes 903 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 A KSDK promo from 1997. Strange that what was then a Gannett station used a modified version of the Hearst "Camera" package, and a logo animation similar to what those stations used at that time in this promo. 3
