New Set at WPIX

I highly doubt those are real. The new duratrans you can see on the updated set look like they're based on the current PIX graphics.

I don't know. Looking at his channel, he also has a similar demo reel showing WGN's current graphics, so it seems like he has access to internal Tribune videos. Perhaps he works for them.

Yeah I don't think Tribune would file a copyright claim for just like a 2 minute video of highlights from one of their newscasts, so my guess would be that this is a possible graphics leak. Honestly, I'm fine with the current graphics/music, but if they changed it up, I wish they would go back to this theme, or maybe they'll get an updated version of it:

I wonder if they will have some virtual component to their new set like the one at the link below which i don't think they ever used

I also wonder if they will use any of there packages?

A few years back, there was a Tribune exec. who was heavily in favor of going the virtual set route with some of the Tribune stations. He has since left the company if i'm not mistaken, plus i'm not getting a vibe that they plan on re-visiting the virtual set idea (even partially) at this point. Also, Tribune has their own in-house graphics department, so there is no need for them to go outside.

I have to say, I was not a fan of the graphics leaked. Hopefully they are improved upon before they are debuted.

Completely agree. My favorite version of the theme.

I think they might hire outside groups for some packages like the examples below (WTTV/ WXIN). I do believe these are the most recent graphics debuted by Tribune stations so maybe they are taking a new route?

That's the name that Tribune Creative West's (or whatever it's called) art director freelances under. So no, they are neithet an outside company or the name of their design division.

Also that video was uploaded by someome who lives in Puerto Rico and videotapes the Weather Channel on their TV. Definitely not some insider, probably just a news junkie who reuploads things they find online (they wouldn't be the first).

Looks pretty good to me. Certainly better than the equivalent area on WABC's set, and great to see more evidence that they're going for a look that really reflects the city.

The yellow and blue behind the screen reminds me of KTLA.

Of course, it all hinges on what home base looks like, though - and if those plasmas are still there, I'm not going to be happy...!

So we've now pretty much seen everything they've done to the areas covered in Craig Allen's left-hand photo (and the bit in the foreground of his right-hand photo)...

So the big question is what's happened to the rest of the right-hand photo - which is where the anchor desk used to be and may well continue to be. Could the space in the middle (where the plasmas were) be the mounts for a 3x3 video wall?

We also know there's a floor-to ceiling image of the Brooklyn Bridge in the mix somewhere, as seen on the day of the power outage. And I'm guessing the skyline image they're using in the temporary interview area will feature too, as they seem far too high-quality to be purely for the temporary set.

The yellows and Blues remind me of this set very well. Although that wasn't my favorite set it had more of a 'news' feel than their current set does.

. While we're waiting does anyone have any guesses as to when they think the set will debut? My guess is a week from Monday, but I'm hoping sooner.

Possibly. so far from what we've seen I really like it. It's different from the other stations with the plain walls and monitors. I say mid week or early next week

From pictures on Lisa Mateo's Twitter, it seems they have opted for hardwood flooring.

Isn't that just the flooring that was already in the space they're using for the temporary interview area? I think it's been there ever since they started using the temporary set.

dkinley1's picture above says otherwise. It seems like they kept the same flooring that they had in the old set. But we'll see- maybe the anchor desk area has hardwood flooring?

Personally I don't think they are going to have the plasmas behind them on the new set.. When they updated the set last time they didn't move them to the temp set like they did this time. If they were going to keep them I think they would have just left them in the studio and used another temp background. Why would they waste money on 4 new plasmas that are going to look exactly the same? Will there be the "window" look behind them? Probably. But I think it will be different,
