That has to be the worst logo in nation right now! There is so much wrong with it I can't even start on what is wrong with it.... Wait I can... THE WHOLE THING... Burn it with heavy amounts of fire and holy water!

WSVI's logo is a little bit better... and they are in... what... market #634?

What an abomination of a logo. I've took the time to create a mock logo using the current colors of their new "What-the-heck-am-I-looking-at" logo, and used the REAL Fox wordmark and their "25" to boot.

This is the logo they should've gone with.

You're mock logo is 1,000 times better than their current one.

The really strange thing is that, if you believe Cox does nothing without running it through a focus group first, this was a very calculated change.

They're definitely all-in on it though, because they're branded within the Hothaus graphics.

That logo makes some of Sinclair's (and some of Nexstar's) logos look good by comparison. It's so half-assed that it might as well be the worst logo in a top-10 DMA market ever. They've also seemed to have kept a cut or two from the Fox local news theme, I don't know why though.

This logo would be great.....

...in a market below 150.

Not only is it a visual disaster in a top 10 market, but compared to all of the great logos in the Boston market, (especially WGBH and WCVB) it's like putting a payday loan store in a high end shopping mall.

And to think this is now Cox's largest station by market size. If this was based on the extensive research that is a hallmark of Cox's way of doing things, they must either are getting desperate with all of the recycling of elements or they failed miserably with their focus groups.

I don't understand the concept of "focus groups", who are they, what type of people (actual viewers), who? I find Cox to be a consultant driven news agency which I find bad, because I don't like the idea of NDs addicted to substances such as Excel sheets of overnights and other metrics. This is what will kill journalism. Tegna is a close second when it comes to numbers over true stories.

Wow that's far far worse. Comparing WFXT's new logo to WBNS' 1993 look, WBNS wins as the worst.

But other than that, I wish WFXT 25 kept their old logo while incorporating new stuff.

I hate the new 615 theme, I know it has its signature tune, but I can't make out the package. I hate the graphics. Hothaus could've made a better package, it looks weak to say the least. The Belo (and if you like ABC/Disney's west coast cluster) were probably their best in recent years.

The best outcome could be that Ed Ansin decides to yank away FOX from WFXT and stick them with NBC. Even then, it would still look small-market but it would seem better with a peacock instead of the "FOX" wording.

I don't get it. Why do they own Fox affiliates if they want to not brand themselves as affiliates? KTVU had 3" binder full of excuses but that's not relevant since the station they own was a long time O&O.

Factor some "X" motion effects and you got a good graphics package plus station ID.

Suddenly this doesn't look so bad.

Yup, that just de credits WUSA and showed how bad Gannett/Tegna stations would become.

It's as if Cox resented having to trade away KTVU and is now intent on sticking it to Fox, big time, by ruining the visual identity of what had been a charter O&O.

And no, I would not be surprised if Cox and NBC are quietly in talks regarding WFXT.

Their new logo is SO bad, even people in Chicago are making fun of it!

WGN Morning News nails it yet again.

We should just give the WGN Morning News, every TV makeover fail and I promise you, the crew will nail it every single time. WGN Morning News is just the funniest morning news program on TV, anywhere.

How long does is the deal between WFXT and Fox until? When Local TV bought some of the Fox O&Os back in 2007, they signed a ten-year deal. I wouldn't be surprised if 25 is stuck with Fox until 2020.

The clear version is just as awful. What substances are they on down in Dedham that every other Cox station ovbiously doesn't have access to. The old Clear Channel-era KOKI logo still in use at WXXA is miles ahead of this.

OMG its even on FOX network Programming!

Damn! They didn't skipped a beat either, even mentioning about the former anchor "everybody liked".

I'm glad WGN did this and make this logo change a national issue, lol.

A lot of people liked Maria Stephanos, she worked her butt off and worked in a market where she grew up and had no plans to go further up, loved her viewers and loved them back. It's also important she was hired within 2 years as a Fox O&O and worked up the ranks as the station was expanding literally.

Her goodbye piece last month was a professional slap in the face to the current CMG clowns running the station (because they believe in the opposite - a polar opposite to her views of the station's news quality.) A class act. I can't wait to see what her next path will be hopefully within another month or two.

If NBC does decide to bolt WHDH for greener pastures next year, however, all bets are off. Because I doubt that Ed Ansin wants an indie WHDH, and NBC really won't be going cable-only.

Does anyone think WFXT planned to use its call letters in place of FOX (WFXT 25 News) and changed its mind at the last minute? Why else would they not use the FOX logo, or at least a smaller version of it? I don't think any of us can come up with an excuse for the hideous logo, but maybe they planned (or still plan) to emphasize the calls.

That's what I thought when I first saw it. The space at the top of the logo definitely looks like it's made for 4 letters.

Maybe with FOX 25 being all around the set, the FOX lettering is just temporary until the set is completely defoxified.
