That's a recovery for TMJ? For some reason I thought they fell to fourth...

They were in fourth for February sweeps and Third for May sweeps (probably helped by all the specials leading up to Mike Jacobs' retirement). I feel like they've been hovering around third for quite some time before that.

We'll see what happens as they get more "Scrippsified" next year... So far it seems to be working out for them.

Sucks for WDJT. All that money spent on that new set and all they have to show for it is a return to 4th place.

My summary on this:

  • This market ain't competitive anymore because KDKA is the ratings winner, time after time after time again.
  • WTAE always wins mornings (4:30-7:00am).
  • KDKA always wins middays (12:00-1:00pm) and evenings (4:00-7:00pm).
  • WPXI's only win is not even on their main station, instead its on WPGH.

Man is WPXI really far off from even trying to be competitive against KDKA, at least ratings-wise.

It's "always winning" that makes it a competitive market. I'm pretty sure KDKA isn't just sitting around throwing up their arms going "well we're never gonna win mornings so why even try?!?" No, they're plotting their next moves and coming up with ways to compete against 'TAE.

As for Atlanta? My guess is that WAGA drew even to WGCL...in primetime...among the 18-49s (last year at this time, "Gotham" beat out "The Voice" (WXIA) and "Dancing With The Stars" (WSB) on Monday nights; this year, it may have been the hot "Supergirl" with "Empire" taking the cake among all programs).

WSB reigned in news for the 672,063,721,389,462nd time, but come February sweeps, Fox 5 with the addition of Stephany Fisher (official announcement to come after the holidays) will come out swinging like never before!

Something about that article seemed fishy. Number one for everything??? 23 HOURS of the day???

That's the same case at WSB; the only time slot they don't win is 3:00 pm (owned by Young and the Restless on WGCL, who is #2 at 11:00 am with The Price Is Right).

Looks like the changes at 'SOC and 'CNC are hurting them compared to WBTV's stability.

WJZY drawing so well at 10 after just under two years of existence is impressive. Their product is miles ahead of where they were when they first begun.

According to WBAL they are #1 in the A25-54 and W25/54 demographics in all time slots except for noon. Their weekend newscasts also won the nearest competition in 6-7AM (when WJZ is on the Air) and at 11PM.

http://www.wbaltv.com/tv/about/wbaltv-11-is-no-1-in-every-major-newscast-during-november-2015-sweeps/36738632

BALTIMORE —In the recently concluded November 2015 ratings period WBAL-TV 11 finished in first place in the important Households, Adult 25-54 and Women 25-54 demographics for the weekday 4:30AM, 5:00AM, 6:00AM, 5:00PM, 6:00PM and 11:00PM news broadcast times. WBAL-TV 11’s weekday morning newscast from 6:00-7:00AM enjoyed a 48% advantage over the nearest competition in Adults 25-54, and the 11:00PM news now has a 39% lead over other newscasts in the time period.

To date, WBAL-TV’s web site and mobile app have registered equally notable numbers, with over 302 million impressions during the calendar year.

"More people than ever before are depending on WBAL-TV 11 for news and weather," said Dan Joerres, President and General Manager of WBAL-TV 11. "Our on-air and online audiences continue to grow. To know that more people are putting their trust in WBAL-TV to keep them informed is both gratifying and rewarding. Our team works hard to earn that trust, each and every day."

WBAL-TV 11 continues to lead every weekend morning newscast in head-to-head competition, carrying on a long-standing tradition of local news leadership on weekend mornings. Relatively new to Sunday mornings, public affairs show “11 TV Hill with Jason Newton” and political talk show “Matter of Fact with Fernando Espuelas” both capture the number one ratings spot in their time periods. These back-to-back programs are broadcast from 11:00AM to noon on WBAL-TV 11.

Ratings information is based on the NSI Live + SD November 2015 report

I don't think there's anything wrong with always winning or always wanting to win. I'm a fan of Cox. They run their stations the right way. Their declines recently, however, are self inflicted. I think you're right, they did panic a little over a year ago when WAGA started making gains. They've been experimenting, and even stopped reporting the ratings in their newspaper, the Atlanta Journal Constitution. I'm confident they'll figure it out before too long, though.

I agree Cox my favorite too, but yes there's some cracks, but I hate when these companies panic when those ratings go south. Just need to come up with some fresh ideas. Cox is also consultant heavy, so I'm sure Cox will be spending lots of $$$ to get some consultant opinion.

Wow. What a surprise! It was always KXAN at noon, 5:00 and 6:00pm with KVUE in mornings and 10:00pm. What a tremendous job KXAN has did for now claiming victory in the morning and at 10:00pm to take the crown from KVUE. If I was KVUE, I'd be completely worried now for losing the top spot for so long now.

Sorry for the double post...

KUTV 2 continues to win the ratings in Utah. The former news powerhouse, KSL 5, is starting to increase while KSTU 13, once the leader in the last sweeps, has fallen to third. The numbers are only at 10:00pm or 9:00pm on KSTU: http://www.sltrib.com/home/3256008-155/scott-d-pierce-kutv-wins-sweeps

WREG 3 continues its dominance in Memphis, with the exception of weeknights at 6:00pm, still belonging to WMC 5. WHBQ 13 impressively beats WMC 5 at 6:00am and midday: http://wreg.com/2015/11/26/wreg-is-thankful-this-holiday-season-for-our-viewers/

KSHB is marred so far down in 4th place it's astonishing. Very, very hard to believe that they were #1 at 5 and 6pm at any point a couple years ago. They've really gotta do something over there. Their husband-wife anchor pair evidently isn't working, and The NOW still isn't doing them any favors.

Good to see KSL starting to get closer to where it always used to be. KTVX, though...yikes.

Here are your results for Denver.

Would've been nice if they provided actual numbers. It's annoying sweeps articles are posted that just say "Station X is in first. Station Y was a distant second, followed by Stations Z and V battling for third." Like, how distant is distant?

KSHB is marred so far down in 4th place it's astonishing. Very, very hard to believe that they were #1 at 5 and 6pm at any point a couple years ago. They've really gotta do something over there. Their husband-wife anchor pair evidently isn't working, and The NOW still isn't doing them any favors.

The NOW is doing a little better than before. When NOW started, it was pulling 1s and 2s, and now it's averaging 3.0. I think everyone (not just us at FOX 4) got a World Series aftermath bump at the beginning of the month.

KCTV should be worried. They have the benefit of CBS prime time programming, but they bleed viewers heading into the 10:00 news. They're falling behind in the morning too, letting KSHB put some distance between 3rd and 4th. KCTV lost the 4:00 time slot for the first time in a while, and KMBC is back on top at 5:00.

I'd be curious to see some of the smaller markets. I wonder what the most dominant station in America (in a competitive market) is? Such would likely be in a smaller market since some stations in those are 10-ton gorillas.

Still, it's WABC that continues to rule the national roast.

KTUU remains the 10-ton gorilla in Anchorage, but my hunch is that their lead has been shrinking (the pending ownership by Gray might be the cause) while KTVA is gaining.
