Samantha 2895
I was thinking maybe FOX would buy ten since FOX has studios there. Given the connection to Foxtel, such a move would have raised political heckles galore. "In terms of corporate strategic cock-ups the Murdochs must be in the running for this year's first prize for their failed attempt to snare ownership of Ten Network." It's like Tribune but on a grander scale. But hey, at least they're not a dangerously conservative TV company with unwatchable must-run commentary by unlikable and unlookable dipshits with nothing better to do with their careers. (...well, replace conservative with old-fashioned and commentary with Kevin Can Wait by Kevin James and they might be oddly similar.) TSSZNews 1051
A court will hear Bruce Gordon's challenge to the CBS bid, saying the network's administrators had mishandled the sale and poorly communicated with creditors. That's pretty funny since CBS is their top creditor if I'm not mistaken! It's apparently common for Gordon to pull this stunt--but he has been successful once. so this isn't as much a Hail Mary as you'd think. And the thing is, if Gordon prevails--what's to stop CBS from then pulling the rug from underneath Ten in totality by severing programming agreements? Gordon (and, I guess, the Murdochs?) would have fought tooth and nail for dead weight--with the professional livelihoods of so many at the network likely in peril as collateral damage. rkolsen 1684
Network Ten's creditors have accepted CBS's bid to purchase the network. CBS offered the unsecured creditors more that $40 million. The creditors rejected a bid from Lachlan Murdoch and Bruce Gordon who made an unsecured bid of $55 million. The chief administrator Mark Koda said: “I’m not an industry expert — you guys probably all know better than me — but I think the industry is genuinely excited about having a $27 billion big brother looking after Channel 10,” Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/15891-cbs-buying-network-ten-au/page/2/#findComment-184289 Share on other sites

Conrad 113
Based on the promos the networks have had over the years, was always , , and Ten . Now it just feels more official now that one of us soon owns them. Fixed. Did the Australian networks get licenses from the networks here in the United States to use their image campaigns? Seven also uses the NBC Nightly News theme for their news, although until 2003 they used a logo similar to that of WJLA (an ABC affiliate, which we already know). As for ABC (Australia), that would be like PBS as both are public broadcasters (although the former shares its name with one of our Big Four networks). Despite the presence of Foxtel and Fox having studios in Australia, there is no Australian equivalent of Fox. ToriElectra 292
Ten always acted as a hybrid of Fox and CBS. Moreso CBS these past few years than Fox. Right- the 1990 "It's On Fox" campaign was adopted by Ten as "Just Watch Us Now!" But nowadays, there is an equivalent to Fox- Fox8, only available on Foxtel originally (and it was just called "Fox" from 95 to 97). Action Newsroom 1281
Seven and Nine will definitely be clamoring for at least a few more Fox series to their stead after this.
