ColDayNews 438 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Thread for Vegas coverage, list what other networks are doing in your reply. ABC: Good Morning America is live in all time zones, will continue as a Special Report at 9am on the east coast and in the central time zone. CBS: CTM has been commercial or local break free and will also continue as a Special Report when it ends in the Eastern and central time zones. FOX: Coverage is being anchored by Fox News Channel's Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade and Ainsley Earhardt. Level 2, which means some stations are carrying coverage while others may pass. NBC: Special edition of The Today Show is currently airing.

jrh1985 57 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 What time does George get in usually? He was on before 4:30 AM CDT. Or was he there all night?
ColDayNews 438 Posted October 2, 2017 Author Posted October 2, 2017 What time does George get in usually? He was on before 4:30 AM CDT. Or was he there all night? A few yrs ago, during the Boston manhunt, ABC News broke in at 4am EDT for the first news conference with George. World News This Morning was preempted. George tends to get in at 4am to prep for GMA.
Jterry 43 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 NBC will be in continuous coverage until at least 2 ET per TVNewser. Matt and Savannah anchoring. Lester Holt en route.
ColDayNews 438 Posted October 2, 2017 Author Posted October 2, 2017 Fox coverage continues with Bill Hemmer and Sandra Smith on both Fox platforms - Fox stations and FNC
Jess 1115 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 For local coverage... KTNV has their live coverage auto-streaming on their front page at ktnv.com. KSNV is live at http://news3lv.com/live. KLAS is not live. KVVU is live at http://www.fox5vegas.com/category/214173/fox5newslive.
DesertNewsGeek 47 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 That's a major disappointment for KLAS, and a blown opportunity for Nexstar to provide coverage to Las Vegas viewers and its other stations. I wish another company had bought KLAS instead of Nexstar.
CircleSeven 1963 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 What time does George get in usually? He was on before 4:30 AM CDT. Or was he there all night? George came on air a little after 4am/ET.
DesertNewsGeek 47 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 UPDATE: KLAS resumed live streaming at http://www.lasvegasnow.com/live-stream
atlnews2 600 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Surprised BriWi isn't in on MSNBC... he is now as of 12:30pm ET
David Salter JR 66 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 WTTG (and probably other fox affiliates) are now carrying shepard smith
Bsean 165 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I'm watching KTLA and they have sent two reporters to Vegas. It's been continuing coverage and it's pretty good coverage for not being a Vegas station.

Kinda like Chicago stations sending reporters down to St. Louis to cover breaking news there.

It's been continuing coverage and it's pretty good coverage for not being a Vegas station. Actually three reporters: Chip Yost at the convention center, Mark Mester at one of the hospitals, and Christina Pascucci on the strip. It does make sense as there were multiple So Cal victims. Wonder what the other LA stations are doing.
Eat News 4745 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Also helps that Vegas is a short drive from LA. Kinda like Chicago stations sending reporters down to St. Louis to cover breaking news there. It helped that there were already a ton of news assets in Las Vegas because of the O.J. story. PACSAT had at least 4 sat trucks already staged...and more were on the way. MSNBC had a crew(s) in the Hotel 2 floors above the shooters floor...in town for OJ.
hmaxhanson 650 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 This is absolutely tragic. Me and my Dad took a roadtrip from FL to Vegas about two months ago for my Dad's birthday and to write a book based on our travels. We stayed at the Circus Circus, which is about 5 miles north of the shooting. At the end of the their coverage, George S. mentioned that ABC will be airing a 1-hour edition of World News Tonight later this evening, are the other networks doing the same?
MorningNews 1543 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 NBC has announced that there will be an extended edition of Nighlty News from Vegas tonight.
DonDonP1 118 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Hello, everyone. Here in Seattle, KING 5 and KONG began simulcasting NBC's breaking news coverage of a period of silence in remembrance of the victims of the Las Vegas Shooting. <period of silence> Lest we forget. Now, the post-silence commentary.
ColDayNews 438 Posted October 2, 2017 Author Posted October 2, 2017 Kate Snow is anchoring now on NBC, George is STILL going on ABC, Jeff Glor is anchoring on CBS. Fox hasn't returned, presumably due to Shep preparing for his 3:00 FNC show?
Jase 1090 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 he is now as of 12:30pm ET Katy Tur was taken over coverage on MSNBC (as of 3p EST)
WestleyWolf 123 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 well here's the weird part about FOX. on local Fox feeds Shepard smith was on, but on FNC they had someone else on.
ColDayNews 438 Posted October 2, 2017 Author Posted October 2, 2017 well here's the weird part about FOX. on local Fox feeds Shepard smith was on, but on FNC they had someone else on. Fox News has a policy of not simulcasting opinion programming unless there are extraordinary circumstances. During the Boston manhunt, Fox News simulcasted The O'Reilly Factor on FNC and local stations because it was not safe for Shepard Smith to anchor separate coverage from the scene where police and the suspect were shooting at each other.

Fox hasn't returned, presumably due to Shep preparing for his 3:00 FNC show? Well, George is indeed ABC's Chief Breaking News Anchor, a job orginally doubled by a nightly news anchor, in addition to co-anchoring GMA and This Week.
