And of course it was because Dan O'Donnell threw another temper tantrum about 'free speech for me but not for thee'. These stations just have to stop listening to these cranks because the only thing they're good for these days is outrage.

I didn't even know she had an Instagram account, so this was her personal one, not anything connected with the station. Godawful situation that should have been a quiet suspension at the very most, and our X-obsessed man is a private citizen with no government power. She should not have been fired, and these news orgs are turning 'balanced views journalism', meant to deal with little things like football lights at the high school stadium and road expansions through neighborhoods, into a punchline.

I guess an instagram post is worse than your lead anchor getting an OWI and pulling a “do you know who I am?!” with the cops… but that’s Jessie Garcia’s leadership style for you. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Loads of news here but no time to create new posts or threads elsewhere so here we go...

For the first time since the 2007-2008 season, Gray is partnering up with the Hornets to simulcast five of their games on their OTA stations. This joins a separate agreement with Cox for WSOC and WAXN in the main home market. In Raleigh, it'll be CBC's WRAZ 50.2.

C-SPAN is all over cable and satellite but not on streaming. Lawmakers are pushing to change that.

Christine Noёl is back in Denver television at KDVR. She's anchoring at 5:00, 9:00, and 10:00 alongside Jeremy Hubbard.

Brittany Foster has left one First Alert Weather team (KAKE) to join another (KMBC/KCWE).

This one made me sad to hear: a Portland great Jenny Hansson has left KOIN 6 after nearly two decades to join Oregon's state government.

WISN-AM morning host Jay Weber was suspended for posting something far worse during the election.

If the other site is to be believed, the mess at WDJT is so bad that Norm Shapiro actually made the drive up to Milwaukee for the first time in decades to talk to everyone in West Allis and take in what's going on. Weigel is pretty hands off and autonomous about their markets outside Chicago and they rarely meddle, so for the big boss to actually come into Milwaukee (and probably complaining about having to pay the tolls up the Tri-State) means heads are going to roll.

This that made the decision should be fired.  It was shameful.

I have a feeling that this is the beginning of the actual end of NECN. Just by looking at the schedule... they've now taken out the 4-8pm New England-focused block of news in favor of WBTS Boston's news once again. New England-specific news is now down to 7-10am, 11am-2, and 3-4pm.

NBC and WBTS have worked together to destroy this channel.

Now, you’ll be able to access NECN’s written, video and interactive content covering Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont on the NBC10 Boston mobile app, NBCBoston.com and the NBC10 Boston app on Fire and Roku.

They couldn't be bothered to mention that Connecticut news is covered by their sister station that's actually in Connecticut? Lovely. 🙄

Two and a half years plus one marriage later (long distance btw) was more than enough for Deborah Choe at WOFL. She's out as she wants to be with her husband.

14 years of WAKA's news on WCOV is over. Tonight, WAKA moved its nightly 9pm newscast from WCOV over to their own sister station, WBMM. This comes as Allen severs ties with WAKA in favor of producing one for WCOV from their own sister station, WAAY Huntsville.

I don't know where else to put it so I'm putting it here...

Gulfshore Life (owned by the same folks as WINK and WXCW) did an article piece on WINK's Lois Thome. Over 32 years, how she became the most trusted news anchor in Southwest Florida.

More memos to bring you as this is Out and About after all...

Brad Edwards has seen the worst of WOI (the 90s and 2000s looks) and the best of WOI (recently). Late last month, after 28 years, the native Des Moiner and ex-TWC Meteorologist said goodbye to the duop that is WOI and KCWI.

Staying in Iowa, KCRG-TV 9's sports director Scott Saville is also hanging it up. After 46 years in broadcasting and almost three decades at KCRG, March 21st will be his last day.

Another note, but from the local TV sports world...

KWTV's Sports Director Dean Blevins is getting into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame and the same will go for the late KWTV Sports Director Bill Teegins.
