nathannah 2412
This move is also in response to NBC announcing that the Access Hollywood/Extra pair will move to "their station" effective the start of next year. Whatever show gets the shaft will probably get some fringe slot on WLVI for the time being. Extra is a Warner Bros. show though; do they just have some odd preference of only associating with NBC O&O's where available? It just seems to a be a relationship that remains because NBC O&O's are the only ones that seem to put Extra in actual timeslots where people watch. Don't forget, CBS Corp. still allows KOVR to program CBS programming from 7-10pm PT. I think that CBS can make an exception and allow WSBK to experiment with a 9-11pm slot for the CW. CBS's CW affiliates haven't taken on the alternate scheduling, which has been a limited experiment in middle markets. 10 p.m. as-is is already pretty much a timeslot where the #1 show is 'Earlier DVR Recording' so I can't see that happening. KOVR works only because that's programming airing earlier where the competition is entertainment talk and the Sony game shows. KOVR works only because that's programming airing earlier where the competition is entertainment talk and the Sony game shows. Has any CW affiliate time shifted the prime time programming outside of KPLR & KWGN? This seems to be more of a MyTV thing as all their programming is second-run programming. Outside of KOVR, KPLR and KWGN, I don't know of any Big 5 affiliates (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CW) that have time shifted their prime time programming outside of the network-preferred time slots (it's a bit more common in late night or daytime). KPIX used to do it, but stopped doing it. KPLR & KWGN do it so they don't compete with their sister stations (KTVI, KDVR) at 9pm with news. KOVR should really stop doing it as all the other stations in Sacramento follow the recommended schedule. Jeopardy/Wheel, ET/Insider, and Extra/AH seem to be paired together on most stations, particularly in the Eastern and Pacific time zones. Jeopardy and Wheel because they are both game shows, ET and Insider because one is a spinoff of the other, and Extra and Access Hollywood by default (they were also distributed by the same company for a period of time). rkolsen 1684
I don't know if it's been mentioned that John Ralston who lost his show when Sinclair bought KSNV is now an NBC News Politcal Analyst. As a side note I'm actually watching broadcast TV syndication of Rizzoli & Isles for the first time on WBAL at 0230 Sunday and 0300 Monday. Normally I watch BBC World News at this time and the local ad breaks for this show were promos. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16860-out-about/page/146/#findComment-146062 Share on other sites
TexasTVNews 1377
Good news from long-time legendary Houston sports anchor. Former KTRK now KHOU Sports Director/Anchor Bob Allen is cancer free. Bob hasn't been on the air since he announced last summer that he was diagnosed with form of T-Cell Lymphoma. Bob posted this message on his Facebook page. "Just wanted all of you out there to know I'm doing MUCH better...the cancer is gone! I am now in the rehab facility at MD Anderson trying to regain the stamina, strength & coordination I lost during the months of the stem cell transplant process. Everyone including myself is very optimistic. Feel like I'm on the downhill run. The constant is that it couldn't have been done without your many prayers and wishes, and you'll never ever know how grateful I am. Still got a ways to go before the strength is back, but we're getting there. Its been an ordeal and there are still way too many folks still battling that need your prayers. Regrets: missing the Astros post season... positive... but seeing Kubiak & Wade send a message to a certain Houston owner & GM that...you know maybe the coaching wasn't so bad here during those 8 years... just might have been the Texans didn't know how to build a team. (Rick)..Anyway I'm gonna keep rehabbing... God Bless you & see you soon." TVNT would like to send our prayers get well wishes to Bob Allen, and hope to see him back on the air soon. http://www.khou.com/story/about-us/2016/02/22/good-news-from-khou-11s-bob-allen/80727004/ Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16860-out-about/page/146/#findComment-146076 Share on other sites
WXmanTim 88
The exodus from Houston's KRIV continues. First, it was reporter Ashley Johnson who jumped ship to WWOR's "Chasing New Jersey" broadcast. Then Assistant News Director Howard Dorsey and Managing Editor Geoff Roth were cut loose. Last week main anchor Don Teague was reportedly escorted from the building. FTVLIVE reports that's related to a sexual harassment complaint filed by a (now former) reporter (my inside sources say his departure and said reporter's *ahem* promotion to another station are related). Today, the Chronicle reported that morning Meteorologist Lindsay Day is leaving at the end of the book. http://chron.com/entertainment/celebrities/article/Meteorologist-Lindsey-Day-to-exit-KRIV-TV-Fox-26-6847509.php Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16860-out-about/page/146/#findComment-146090 Share on other sites

rkolsen 1684
Emily Miller is gone from WTTG. She was the chief investigative reporter. FTVLive reported that earlier this month the was working on a story about a charter school that had a black / white segregated fountain that was spiked after the dean complained. Apparently she promoted the story even after it was canned and hadn't been seen since. Emily is also a pro gun advocate (I'm not against guns but think there should be controls) who has spoken at the Maryland state house and wrote a book entitled Emily Gets Her Gun: But Obama Wants to Take Yours . Surprisingly the station had no problem with their chief investigative reporter taking a stance on this controversial issue.
