Outside of a year-long hiatus to anchor mornings at WKYC Cleveland back in 2008, Abby Ham has been at WBIR-TV Knoxville since 2006.

What an impact Abby has made to mornings in East Tennessee which is hard to hear that today, she's announcing that she's leaving WBIR again and sounds like for good after an amazing 20-year run.

Her final day is January 16th.

Today was her final day and here is her goodbye from WBIR-TV. She has not aged a day.

Wow. For the first time ever, Gainesville will have their own weekend morning news (no I'm not counting WOGX's simulcast of Good Day Orlando from sister WOFL Orlando or WJXT Jacksonville's weekend morning news on Cox Cable).

WCJB is launching the Weekend Wakeup on Saturday, January 24th and will air on weekends from 6-8 a.m.

Hawah Ezell anchors, forecaster Matthew Clark delivers the First Alert forecast, and Laura Iglesias (new hire, new to the business) delivers the latest headlines and live reports.

This will be sad when it happens.

Justin Warmoth, longtime anchor at WKMG, will be signing off at the end of the month after a 13-year run there.

He's leaving to pursue a new career, more likely outside of TV news, meaning his entire career, from 2013 to 2026, was spent at just one station: WKMG.

January 30th will be his last day.

And yes, Greg continues to hold the legacy tradition of a Warmoth on the anchor desk in Central Florida for a few more years to come as he'll continue on WFTV each weeknight now that he's doing four hours of news with Martha (4-6:30 and 10-11:35pm).

WWL is finally getting into the hour-long 4:00 p.m. news game, 16 and a half years after WDSU launched it for New Orleans in 2009, and 14 and a half years after WVUE did the same in 2011.

Devin Bartolotta will anchor the new hour at 4:00 while Katie Moore and Charisse Gibson (two longtime veterans at WWL; Katie's 20 years this year and Charisse's 16 years this year) will continue at 5:00, 6:00 (Charisse also solo anchors at 6:30 on WUPL), and 10:00 p.m.

It begins next Monday, January 26th, and will push Family Feud back to an hour earlier at 3:00 p.m.

Well, it looks like Panama City (and Dothan) no longer have 9pm newscasts on WPGX and WDFX.  Lockwood and Nexstar must have nixed the arrangement.  Big Bang Theory repeats are now on the schedule at 9pm on both stations.  First of the year perhaps?

This leaves WSFA's 9pm newscast being simulcast on WTVY 4.3 and WRGX 23.2.

Retirement was short-lived for Darla Montgomery.

Starting in March, the former long-time KLFY veteran and beloved Acadiana anchor, will be anchoring for KADN/KLAF as they bring back their midday news program in March called News 15 Midday with Darla.

The story says its a new preeminent lifestyle program so we'll see how much lifestyle content is injected or its just a straight traditional news program. It will air on both KADN FOX 15 and KLAF NBC.

For the first time in nearly 20 years, WXIN will be airing midday news at 11am.

FOX 59 Midday News at 11am will debut on Monday, February 2nd as a half-hour newscast (according to the schedules).

Chelsea Helms (who'll remain at 5:00, 5:30, and 6:00 on WTTV), Daniel Miller, and Meteorologist Amber Hardwick will helm the new broadcast.

WXIN last had a midday newscast around 2007 or 2008 and was around until 2009 I believe so that WXIN could launch HD news and an hour-long 4pm newscast (still on the air nearly 17 years later).

EDIT: Unrelated to that...

Today is main anchor Jennifer Horbelt's last day at WPSD after a nearly 20-year run that started as an intern.

In other words, she rose up the ranks and its what happens when hard work is earned.

When you're in a small market, its expected that you're only there for a short time, so it's no surprise that after only two years, Meteorologist Danielle Van Pelt has left WCJB Gainesville.

Faith Woodard is gone from KTHV in Little Rock.

Her comments, and those made by viewers on her FB announcement, allude to something happening behind-the-scenes that may have played a role in her departure. Another telling sign: She's deleted her IG feed.

WFOR launched its new-look newsroom today. It includes a new newsroom set to be used for breaking news when it happens.

It would be cool if they used it as a set for some news broadcasts.
(I don't like the VR studio)

Darrell Greene left WHBQ Memphis, and now we know why. He joined WBTV Charlotte back in December.

He follows the same journey as Carolyn Cerda, who also left WHBQ Memphis a month or two ago to join WBTV Charlotte as of December to anchor their weekday morning news.

In other words... reunited!

Candy Caceres is about to be a whole lot busier at KGET Bakersfield.

She's already the main 6pm anchor and weather presenter for KKEY Telemundo Valle Central.

Now, she'll also do the 6 and 11pm weeknight weather for KGET and on top of all of that, deliver the 11pm weeknight news as well.

In other words...

- 6pm news and weather on KKEY.

- 6pm weather on KGET.

- 11pm news and weather on KGET.

Yep. She'll be one busy woman.

Nexstar appears to be running KGET on the cheap.  Candy is going to be "on tape" for at least one of these newscasts as she cannot be two places at once.  This probably does not matter as their competition is Sinclair and Scripps (it's a Scrippscast station, too).

Fave TV is now extinct. It came in quietly in 2020; it left quietly yesterday morning (as of this post).

KSTW, KTVT, WTOG, WBZ, WFOR, WCCO, and KOVR have since replaced it with Outlaw, while WUPA, WJZ, WBBM, WJZ, KCBS, WCBS, WPSG, KDKA, and KPIX have since replaced it with 365BLK.

Former WILX Met. Colton Cichoracki has joined WXMI Fox 17 in Grand Rapids.  Interestingly enough, they seem to also have another new meteorologist, AJ Walker.  Chief Met. Kevin Craig has been off-air due to "personal reasons" for a couple months now.  I don't know if they're wanting to go back up to 5 mets again or if Craig is leaving.

I've never heard of it, but considering the sheer number of diginets out there, I'm not surprised.

Some news involving New York's Capitol Region (both articles from The Albany Times-Union, meaning they are paywalled)...

Seven years at WTEN, four as Nexstar's New York State political reporter, and Jamie DeLine is leaving for a new job in Raleigh.

https://www.timesunion.com/kristi/article/political-reporter-jamie-deline-leaving-wten-new-21331751.php

Also, Meteorologist Reid Kisselback will be leaving WNYT at the end of the week. He, too, has accepted a new job in Raleigh.

https://www.timesunion.com/kristi/article/meteorologist-reid-kisselback-leaving-wnyt-21331416.php

So what's the connection here if both are taking new jobs in Raleigh? Well, actually, they're married to each other and are expecting their first child together, a baby girl, this winter so congrats to them on that front.
