Jesus how many frickin times are they going to change things? There's a slew of Gray stations that have yet to get this package, and here's tiny KWQC changing every month or so...

Part of it has to do with a licensing issue with Warner Chappell Production Music and it’s effecting the entire library of music. Apparently there was also lay offs within the News music division side.

Reminds me of 2006 when Steven Arnold suddenly pulled up stakes with some stations and they had to quick-sub in new packages (WBAY went from Counterpoint to EWN with only hours of notice). Truly a bummer and sad to see another good studio just go quiet.

Kinda graphics related… why doesn’t Gray just use the actual Fox logo for WFLX? Whatever font they used looks like a cheap knockoff of an actual TV station someone made in Microsoft Paint.

The question that should really be asked is does Fox have an actual mandatory rule/requirement that all of its stations and affiliates use the official logo.

I say this as there have been other examples of stations (WACH, WFXG, and WFXT for instance) who have gotten away with doing the same thing themselves in the past.

But as of 1/22...they are still on the old (10+ year old graphics package) but I'm guessing within the next few weeks.

It seems the stations that still have the old package are stuck with it because of the old graphics systems.  The weather graphics are different because it's a totally different platform.  Same with the promo graphics package that marketing gets.

You would have thought they would made a "GrayOne" package for the stations still on the old CG, but it looks like the package they're using is the one for the holdouts.

Likely a purely business decision, since the systems haven't reached "retirement age" and that the day to replace them is still years away in a future capital expense...

I am not sure of the exact date, but WTAP in Parkersburg, West Virginia has flipped to GrayOne. That leaves only WDTV/WVFX in Clarksburg/Bridgeport, WV with previous graphics setup.

In your region, maybe. But I have a running tally of such a list, and there are still 40 news operations left to convert. The largest yet to switch? Phoenix's KTVK/KPHO/KPHE.

I'm wondering if they're coming up soon... Several of their graphics across the newscast is switching from Meredith's Gotham fonts to the basic Arial/Helvetica fonts all of a sudden the past couple months....

Nearly a month later, WMTV is still using the old graphics on-air. Do any Gray insiders know if they are actually transitioning to the new package, or if these are for online/social use only?

On a related note, I was hoping they would also adopt a more contemporary logo like many other Gray stations have done, but it looks like they are sticking with the rather outdated '15' icon. I've felt it looked awkward since deleting the peacock.

Many of the stations over the past 1-2 years will use GrayOne graphics on socials/online things weeks/months before switching over completely.  Also they may be on an old system that can't fully support GrayOne and are waiting to do so?

I noticed today on KY3’s stations in Springfield Missouri, on a news promo, that they used a graphic/screen that looks like the open on other stations that use GrayOne such as in Kentucky.  I didn’t think to record it because it is the first I have seen of any twinges of an indication that they might be moving in that direction so I wasn’t expecting it, and it ended before I could get the recorder ready.

I took a screenshot of the open on WYMT in Hazard Kentucky which the KY3 promo I saw used a screen that looked like this but just with their own content instead.

I don’t know if this promo was a first indication of GrayOne coming soon or not, but I will be on the lookout.  I have noticed, within the last couple of weeks at least, they changed around a couple of their music cues for mid-commercial break screens with one such being Lake Levels which comes on during the break between segment 2 and First Alert Weather.

I’m thinking that if they are about to change it will probably happen sometime before the May sweeps.

WHNS debuted yesterday.  This leaves Western Mass. News (WGGB) & AZ Family (KPHO/KTVK) from ex-Meredith to switch over.

KPTV is the only other holdout in the former Meredith cluster that hasn't switched yet.

KPTV only got the weather graphics portion so far.

I'm surprised if WMTV is not equipped for the GrayOne package. They had a new studio/station built several years ago, but 100% agree they could use a new logo and updated graphics.

Holy clutter- There is so much going on in that info bar. If you have the sponsor's logo, do you really need to have their name in the title? Economy of words is an art.

But bravo to the marketing rep that made that happen for their client!
