Surprising there isn't a long term thread for this program.

What is your impression of Margaret Brennan as host? On the one hand I like how she holds politicians feet to the fire, right and left.

However, in many interviews she comes across very combative. She interrupts guests, gets stern in tone and expression. One could say bias but again she has done this with Republicans like the South Dakota Governor...

...and Democrats like Wes More when she challenged him on Biden's cognitive state after the debate.

I always enjoyed Bob Scheiffer hosting Face the Nation and the CBS Evening News. Washington insider, very congenial, appealing presence. Margaret has a harder edge but does a good job.

I don't follow it much, but since when did CBS change the floor and its table on FTN?

Went back to check it looks like that started today, last week they were using the EN desk. Maybe they are preparing the set for life after the EN, and that involves the new desk?

Also just thought this could just be for the coverage of the Inauguration.

The more likely of the scenarios.

Honestly there shouldn't even be any tape to these shows at all and that they have taped interviews now has denigrated the Sunday morning format because they all used to be all-live for years. Either these politicians get up on Sunday morning to make their case (and so many do), or don't bother. No government official in any party should get to make the determination they only tape interviews on weekdays and have any veto power and Kristi should've had to be ready to defend herself on Sunday morning.

CBS is no longer allowing interviews on FTN to be edited- Everything will either be live or tape-to-tape.

Honestly, I dont know how I feel about this. But one positive is: this will make things nicely complicated for politicians to get interviews and deservedly worse for Circus 47, as they now can't ever use their already weak excuse of the interview being doctored to make the official and djt look bad.

The consensus seems to be that this is GOOD for the criminal currently in the White House as his toadies get to spout lies and ensure they get on TV (even if they're fact checked), and that they can be more successful at derailing interviews as the journalists will now have new limits on time. https://view.newsletters.cnn.com/messages/17573388183000683ce4a64a4/raw

I don't mind this new approach if it means getting the whole story out of it and not just bits and pieces to favor one side or the other. The worst thing that could happen is someone getting caught saying something on a hot mic afterwards.

Remember the old saying: Loose lips sink ships.

It won't. They'll just keep reciting the talking points regardless of actual questions until time expires.

What it will require is live immediate fact checking.  That is a good thing.

Not when politicians can use prescripted statements to avoid answering anything. They pulled this on ABC's This Week in 2017.
