The 12pm and 3pm newscasts are being done from the newsroom, while the others are in the Morning Edition studio. Is the KCAL model coming?

The Virtual Weather Studio got a redesign with a brown wooden tone look similar to its CBS News 24/7 10am stream 

 

 

 

The previous look was more of a vacant office floor

KPIX is going to get KCAL'd. About 8 weeks construction for the new set per KPIX GM on a linked in post.

CBS stations are really trying, the question is are their efforts paying off ratings wise. 

 

(I'm Not sure where KPIX stands in that regard).

They are not dead last or next-to-dead-last across the board like they were five years ago, but they're still not doing great. I'm not sure what the monthly averages are, but they're probably a ~#3 overall. Their bright spots are probably their 6 and 7pm newscasts. The format is fresh, Juliette Goodrich is a good and popular anchor, and those shows are in between the Evening News at 6:30, which also helps. I can see why other O&Os like WCBS are more or less copying that format. Otherwise, they're still basically last place in the morning, and the 8/9pm news block on PIX Plus gets hashmarks most nights.

i hate HATE HATE VR sets. Is this the beginning of the end? I surely hope not.  They are the norm in Germany and the've always looked like crap. Its just a cheap way to get out  of building physical sets. Boring.

Their latest set was like what 2 or 3 years old? Fast change for these days, not like the 80s when 3-4 was typical. Wasn't a fan of it so curious what virtual has in store. When combined with real set pieces and subdued not too distracting shots of the talent it can be interesting.

Looks like just the 5pm is moving to the virtual studio. The other shows will still most likely be in the new KCAL copied set.

Looks like the set we were speculating for is dead.

 

Juliette Goodrich posted on her Instagram Story they were prepping for the election night rehearsals from the virtual studio, I noticed something was off and it was more bigger than the first Virtual studio.

 

looks like they built a secondary virtual studio but more bigger. You can see the portion of the old temporary set which was the existing previous set that was used when they were in transitioning before full chroma key newscasts.

 

The newsroom set is now only used for weekend mornings and Noon
