I know it's not going to happen, but it would be so amusing if Fox tells them 'yeah, we're giving you a new studio, but you still have to use the old set'. 😂

But jokes aside, it's about time they get an up-to-date building with plenty of parking, though I'm sure WNYW is now feeling like the MSG of FTS (as in building age).

The reasons why WNYW will never leave there buidling is because its historic in the networks keep there facilities of there flagship station in historic buildings just because of legacy they can just renovate instead of putting money into a expensive real estate project in New York. What WABC and ABC is doing is rare.

After years of being on the old Fox O&O set, KDFW is moving out of Downtown Dallas and to a new building in Irving.

The project is expected to be complete in 2026.

Finally because their set looked very outdated.

Hopefully their new set draws inspiration from WTTG, which to me is the best looking Fox O&O.

I’ve heard on the story that the new building will have multiple studios to work out of. A set in the newsroom plus a new bigger space for the new studio and set with multiple different spots in the studio to read news stories at.

I'm curious about two things...

  1. How all of it will work with just fiber cables being operated.
  2. The new podcast suites. Ooooh.

I think that's what we've seen with the last big station moves with KMGH and KMOV; everything is going IP-based and you really don't need a studio to look like a stereotypical studio with all that exposed infrastructure any longer, and it certainly saves on any legwork to monitor outside. Even with the KETV move in Omaha a few years back the dishes and STL are well hidden.

And FoxLocal has been building around podcasts they can air streaming there and on Tubi in syndication/network time so I like that they're planning around that rather than just having it as an afterthought.

Looks like they have the same architects who are also working on KERA’s planned new facility. Interesting to have two local media clients at the same time. Both buildings look great.

Same company did the NBC 5/Telemundo 39 project a few years back too.
