  • 24994J changed the title to Pope Francis (1936-2025)

I moved this to General TV, as this thread can be a catch-all for coverage and anchor plans. Precedent suggests that the funeral will happen 4-6 days after death.

May he rest in peace, and may the college of cardinals choose a successor to continue Francis' legacy of humanity and compassion.

It'll be interesting to see if any of the main evening news anchors are actually en route to Rome & considering the time of day the news broke here early in the morning, wouldn't be surprised if this is the case, that they're reporting from the Vatican in time for tonight's newscasts at 6:30 ET.

David Muir was in Paris for spring break, but I don't know if he came back to New York before the pope's passing.

Network O&Os are sending anchors and reporters.  WNBC is sending anchor David Ushry and reporter Gaby Acevedo.  I believe WABC sent Mike Marza.  I don't know about WCBS.
