abric 227 Posted July 3, 2025 Posted July 3, 2025 In the end, Paramount Global didn’t settle because they were wrong. They didn’t settle because it was fair. They settled because that’s how power works now. Grease the right palms, press the right flesh, and you can say whatever the hell you want—as long as you don’t mean it. In the end, they sold out the truth for 16 million bucks. ... that’s a hell of a bargain. 2 1 2

mre29 1967 Posted July 3, 2025 Posted July 3, 2025 Quote The agreement in principle, proposed by a mediator, includes plaintiffs’ fees and costs and — except for fees and costs — will be allocated to Trump’s future presidential library, Paramount Global said in a statement late Tuesday. Trump's "presidential library"? Quote Paramount also said it agreed that in the future, “60 Minutes” will release transcripts of interviews with eligible U.S. presidential candidates after the interviews have aired, “subject to redactions as required for legal or national security concerns.” Transcripts aren't good enough. The complete, uncut interview should also be made available for viewing,. I mean, do you think average voters are going to interested in reading a transcript when there's a video to watch? In fact, the complete, uncut interview with Harris should be made available now. 1

mre29 1967 Posted July 3, 2025 Posted July 3, 2025 Smart of them to think ahead. Now CBS needs to heavily plug that video in their own coverage of this. 1
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 I believe the correspondents on this program wanted her to be the EP. Well... they got their wish. Tanya Simon is the first woman to hold the role in the distinguished program's history. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tanya-simon-executive-producer-60-minutes/ 1
Yayan4155 41 Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 (edited) CBS News under Bari Weiss eyes a major shakeup of 60 Minutes, and many of these anchors will be axed, potentially including Scott Pelley and Bill Whitaker. Weiss complained that the program "has drifted far to the left" (NY Post Exclusive). https://nypost.com/2025/10/27/media/cbs-news-boss-bari-weiss-eyes-major-shakeup-at-60-minutes-sources/ Edited October 27, 2025 by Yayan4155 7
mountainave 618 Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 To that end, 60 Minutes aired its first interview with President Trump since the last one that resulted in the lawsuit, and it's very clear that a shift has taken place at the program. Norah O'Donnell conducted the interview and, to be fair, she didn't lob him softballs, but there was very little in the way of follow-up questioning or challenges that the Stahl-era 60 Minutes is -- or was -- known for.

No she didn't, that said even without the settlement Trump is not someone you can push back on as all he will do is double down and maybe even walk off the interview. Pushing back on him is not worth it, better to just give him all the rope because hell just hang himself. This interview was more contentious then I thought it would be.
brianpr3 199 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 What is this I hear they pulled a story on 60 minutes?! Did Bari herself intervene?

obxwatcher 23 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 (edited) If anyone is looking to make some extra Christmas cash, go buy some cheap Banker boxes from Staples and stand outside CBS News NYC and DC offices this week. I am sure many employees might want them. Edited December 22, 2025 by obxwatcher 1
NYTV 138 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 Sharyn Alfonsi, the correspondent who filed the now-canceled piece sent a memo regarding what happened:
Daybreak 297 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 I have a feeling that Bari is not going to last long at CBS.
DJonNews 104 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 (edited) The company is owned by the Ellisons, who... well, you know... Anyway, I'm sure they have full faith in Bari to not only continue CBS News' steps in the wrong direction, but also take it far right. "60 Minutes" and its hard-earned credibility are being sacrificed because of that shift. It used to be the outlier at a time when CBS News was (and still is) undergoing a period of instability, and for good reason. It was the perfect example of long-form journalism. Now, not anymore. Amra 193 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 AIPAC Bari Waste, as I like to call her, needs to go. But sadly it won't happen. CBS News is officially state media. RIP CBS News and 60 Minutes. 1
MorningNews 1711 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 *RIP 60 Minutes. The rest of that network’s news programming has been dead anyway.
tvnewsbystander 5 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 (edited) What a soap opera this has become. Paramount has practically turned into a puppet. Its ownership is now so closely tied to the president that he reportedly asked the studio to revive an action franchise — one that originally belonged to another studio — under the direction of a filmmaker facing multiple sexual misconduct allegations: https://variety.com/2025/film/box-office/rush-hour-4-paramount-trump-1236591747/ Adding another twist, that same director is behind the upcoming Melania documentary set to release next month. Coincidence? You scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours. By dropping this 60 Minutes story, Paramount seems to be continuing its pattern of playing nice with the administration — especially as it positions itself to bid for Warner Bros—which you guys, they own CNN and HBO (Hello, John Oliver). It’s clear they want the White House on their side. The connections are becoming hard to ignore. How the rest of the media world reacts will be telling. Credit to Sharyn Alfonsi for having the courage to speak out. Edited December 22, 2025 by tvnewsbystander
MorningNews 1711 Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 (edited) This is getting crazy. The 60 Minutes story ran in an on-demand version from Canada’s Global TV before being yanked down. Edited December 23, 2025 by MorningNews

MicFlag 33 Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 If the overwhelming majority of you had gotten that one wrong in a multiple choice in your J school ethics course, you still would not have a degree from that university. It would have been an automatic F.
