Geoffrey 861
I don't know... I originally thought that SuitSnob went too far but I've since come to enjoy his posts. There's a lot of sarcasm in his "analyses" that I guess some people don't enjoy. I've even learned a few things (I used to be one of those guys who buttoned the bottom button!). If SuitSnob is hurting anyone's feelings, then perhaps those people are too sensitive and need to realize that they're in the public eye and people have a right to comment about them. I suspect that an overwhelming majority of the people on this board would agree. SuitSnob 19
Wouldn't it be hysterically funny if it turned out that the Psycho Obesessed Troll actually turned out to be one of the men I pick on? I can just see Lonnie Quinn up late at night in a dirty bathrobe drinking Bailey's straight from the bottle typing angrily away... samson71 0
Who's the troll, jackass? Look in the mirror, idiot. You're the one obsessed with people who are better than you. I'm done with you. SuitSnob 19
And we're done with you. Your only posts on this board have been to harass and troll SuitSnob. Don't worry, we have a wonderful parting gift for you. An All-Expenses-Paid ride on the Banhammer! (swoons, ala Scarlett O' Hara) My HERO!!!! Thanks, but I guarantee Mr. Troll will return under a diffrent name and try to pretend to be another person...seems to be a common tactic it uses; be sure to watch for a story about "I heard about this on another board..." and "you just can't believe that there is more than one person who feels this way..." and "I also know these guys and have a big, important job in local news when I am not busy being an A-list fashion consultant..." Also, watch for someone who starts off quietly making banal comments on other threads so it seems like they are a "regular" when starting to flame. This may even be a troll who pulled this exact same shit on me last year at this time on another board-same mode of operation; is it the same person or is this just par for the course in your Garden Variety Troll? All I know is that I feel positively FAMOUS! I wonder if I can get into a support group for Celebrity Stalking Victims? By the way, for those of you keeping a tab on the psychological breakdown, he also went to the Survivor site where I am a regular poster that he mentioned and posted his diatribe on FIVE diffrent threads and PMd it to me. Someone has more issues than National Geographic.:ack: I am so glad we got our own February Sweeps Stunt here on our little corner of the Internet! SuitSnob 19
Sorry...just had to add this, from my Youthful Ward "ShawnOverboard" over at the Survivor site (he is attmpting to be my sidekick, "Snobbin")...He made this statement far better than I have ever atriculated this issue(from the mouths of babes), after Mr. Troll's assertion that he was actually in the news industry: If the ones "you know" so well cared about what they were doing, they wouldn't do it where they are doing it. They'd be writing for newspapers, radio, or, at the very least, working for PBS. If you are in the industry, then you know the "news" is at least half show, and will be reviewed as such. Your friends, if indeed are some that SuitSnob mentions, are not journalists (it wasn't so noble calling Chelsea Clinton a whore, by the way) but on-air personalities. At least half of the job requirement is to look good in a suit. If your boss were interested in a "few very important things," he wouldn't have hired Ken Dolls and have blown a fortune (or tailor) for their wardrobes. Instead of railing against SuitSnob and threatening blackmail, if you really are that close to the situation, why not just work to fix it, you know, so they don't have to button those bottom buttons? It's the simplest solution, really. Couldn't have said it better myself. Vlad 325
Looking great Todd, that set looks nice too, did they do a few changes to it a bit? It looks a lot better than the way I saw it the last time, but then again it could be the lighting and the angle too, lol. Nonetheless the set does look really nice. Wow, seems like I missed a lot here on this thread here, but I'm not gonna revive anything looks like everything was handled quite well as usual. I think a thread cleaning is in store, lol. SuitSnob 19
Hello Kiddies! All of you…the news watchers, the staff members who look to me to fix their wardrobes…and of course-the mentally-disturbed, pathologically-obsessed delusional trolls!!! Just a brief update today… Now, we know that SuitSnob promised NO PICKING ON DON DAHLER for Lent. But I come here to praise Dahler, not bury him! I have been so cutting with my comments it is only fair and right to give him credit for the supreme upgrade he has been demonstrating of late. He’s wearing some new suits, while pairing the better ones he had previously with MUCH better, higher-quality ties in very attractive patterns. He is using Windsor Knots with nice spread collars-not a requirement by any means, but they sure look smart on him. Here he is last Saturday and Sunday: This is the biggest improvement I have seen since Ron Corning sent his grey plaid suit and that horrid paisley, nightmare-inducing tie back to the Ninth Level of Hell where Satan’s tailors wove it from the discarded fur of a jackal. Way to go Don, NOW you look like a REAL New York City Anchor! Ok, Charity Hour is over. Fashion-Challenged Rob Malcolm spent much of the winter reporting from the field in a large FOX5 parka, and for all we know he was wearing a teddy and garter belt underneath. But, alas he did NOT have as good of a weekend as our friend Don. I wonder if perhaps he could wear the parka indoors, even as summer approaches, as to not disturb the sartorially-sensitive with displays such as this: Back in the pre-SuitSnob Intervention Era Rick Folbaum used to stand at the very spot and also bottom-button his two-button suits…but they never looked THAT bad. Something about the cut of that particular jacket just pushes it over the edge. One word: EWWW!!!:puke: Close-up (as if we need it) of his grotesquely large tie knot (as usual): But as it almost always is with Rob’s fashion abortions, the sad thing is that the color coordination is really interesting and bold. But he just keeps getting the details wrong, destroying the line of the suit due to inappropriate buttoning, makes the tie knot so big it is overwhelming instead of symmetrical and solid. Then, believe it or not…it just gets WORSE: UGH! Are you KIDDING ME? Yes, we have seen two-button and three-button suits all buttoned up, but buttoning all the buttons on a FOUR BUTTON blazer? SuitSnob has to believe that the average blue-collar Joe on the street could gaze at this and know that it just does not look right…so how could a “professional” not know? It looks like he is wearing a dress! What is his problem? :bang: (Cue next Rob Malcolm Collar Close-up) Unlike the previous shirt (which was a pretty good fit), this collar is not only too large and wide; it is also loose around his neck. Note how the edges of the enormous knot even push out and over the collar-yes, even with this ridiculous Saturday Night Fever spread collar the knot is just so HUGE it is pushing beyond its borders. Does Rob not have any friends who will do a live intervention? Maybe there is a rehab for this sort of thing? Just remember, the first step is admitting you need help… OK, let’s just end with a usual Lonnie Shot… (can you see how much the bottom button is making the material pull and yank-I’d love to see it pop off live during a broadcast as he attempts to point to New Haven with one hand and Atlantic City with the other….) I think he missed the day in Weatherman School where they brought me in for my seminar How to Wear a Suit. Oh, wait…I forgot…Lonnie didn’t go to Weatherman School! You’d think they would have taught it at his alma mater: Miss Joanie’s School of Dance, Baton and Soap Opera Acting. I hope you all have a nice three-piece suit to keep you warm through today’s blizzard. Until next time… Love and Kisses, SuitSnob PS Yes, I am too charitable to mention that Lonnie has clearly switched to a darker, reddish hair dye. Ravenclaw 0
Someone better alert Mr. Suitsnob. SuitSnob 19
Ah…Spring starts to hint at its arrival on some sunny days, making our brave reporters doff their long Winter overcoats and leaving themselves vulnerable to… (cue echo effect) THE EVIL SUITSNOB!!!!!! (cue reverb) What do we have today? OK, first of all: Mike Woods. Tell me, is it possible he actually checked himself out before he went on camera and actually believed that any of what he is wearing looked good as a separate piece, let alone how drab and dour the complete ensemble is? Itty-bitty contrasting shirt collar that does not fold into the collar of the jacket…a jacket that is WAY too short…a jacket with shiny, ugly, cheap-looking buttons. Gross tie. Mike-your morning buddy Ron clearly has found a great fashion consultant-ask him for help!!! We want dapper and handsome in the morning, not color-blind funeral director. :puke:Don’t forget your morning competition includes Bill Evans and John Elliot-both very sharp dressers! Speaking of Ron, let’s file this under SuitSnob May Be Impossible to Please, But Can Sort of Be Flexible Once in a Great While: OK, SuitSnob hates, Hates, HATES it when Ron goes tie-less on Fridays (believe it or not, this was actually a major plot point with a fictional anchor on the Fox sitcom “Back to You” last week…no joke!). SuitSnob also hates men who wear sport coats in the studio (unless they are the sports guy). SuitSnob REALLY hates intense patters on sport coats on-camera. Then why, oh why did SuitSnob approve this anyway: (note that this pattern does not cause streaking at all) Because Boys and Girls…yes, I will put it here in black and white… SOMETIMES, IF SOMETHING JUST LOOKS REALLY GOOD ON YOU IT IS OK TO BREAK THE RULES. There. I said it. And it looks DAMN good on Ron, so he gets a SuitSnob Hall Pass. Now back to being mean! Now this KILLS me! I adore this guy for being such a diligent SuitSnob Disciple…but I have to be fair, even if it means picking on Teacher’s Pet. I simply cannot allow this to be broadcast on air again… Oh Jeff Smith…here you are subbing in Prime Time last week…so sharp and appropriate with your nice suit, Full Windsor knot and French Cuffs: But then came Sunday morning and you were out of the studio. You felt casual and decided to go unbuttoned (in spite of the naughty shot I posted last year…really sorry about that Buddy). And here you revealed a weakness in the Death Star: EEEEK!!!! TIE TIED TOO SHORT!!! TIE TIED TOO SHORT!!!!! ALERT!!! ALERT!!!! And then again the next week…even Babar is shocked: Now, the reason this happened is because as Jeff is tying the ferocious Full Windsor and he is on the tall side he is losing about 5-6 inches (no bad jokes) of tie length. It’s OK Jeff…it happens to everyone…lots of guys have the problem…it’s really no big deal… But seriously, this rule has never come up here: THE BOTTOM OF THE TIE NEEDS TO TOUCH THE BELT BUCKLE OR YOU WILL LOOK LIKE GOMER PYLE AT THE COUNTY SQUARE DANCE Alas, with a thicker tie knot this really can be a problem. One does not have to lose the thicker knot…just keep the jacket buttoned or go for a (all too rare) three-piece. But never, EVER let even an inch show between the bottom of the tie and the belt-a gap THAT wide is HORRIBLE!!! Please continue to the next post for a further discussion of the pitfalls of the Full Windsor Knot. I am sure you all know what (and who) is coming…be afraid…be VERY afraid… (To be continued....) SuitSnob 19
(Continued from previous page) I SuitSnob do solemly swear that this will be my final attempted Rob Malcolm Fashion Intervention EVER! Sometimes, even a SuitSnob just knows that someone is too pig-headed for help. No kidding kids, this is it…I am not trying anymore…if he wants to make an ass out of himself, so be it. SuitSnob now has enough pupils he is proud of to let this one go. What a waste of good hunk though!!! First REALLY oversized tie knot, spread from Bayonne to the Bronx…good God-it's wider than his neck!!!! Look at how its weight causes a droop…Can we have a close-up of the 1.5 inch gap between the tie and collar? Thank you for the close-up. Let’s be fair and show one day when he managed to keep the knot within Jeff Rossen-range and had a collar that could hold it: Ok, that was my only good picture. Damn, this one is bigger than a fist…exploding from the collar…and once again drooping…you think he uses the knot to carry his lunch to work? (Love the jaunty pocket square though…) Oh, let’s forget his damn ties!!! Here he is looking like a serious journalist on the evening news: Wow. I didn’t know they were re-making Return of the Jedi. ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ Rob. YOU NEED SARTORIAL HELP!!! Forget me-read a book…go to a website…HELP YOURSELF BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!!! SUITSNOB GIVES UP ON YOU AS A LOST CAUSE-NOW IT IS UP TO YOU!!!! Oh god…I need a breather…please enjoy this shot of Chris Wragge looking absolutely perfect-one of the best outfits I have ever posted on any man here: I swear he gets better by the day. (swoon, sigh) Now, I know you are thinking “there is no way SuitSnob will leave Rob Malcolm alone forever.” But it is true. The fact is; your friend and patriot SuitSnob just got a job offer that will take him over 3000 miles from NYC to a very small market out West. Yes kids…after a year, dozens of updates and over 15,000 page views we are at the End of SuitSnob. (Sound of collective sigh of relief from poorly dressed men on local news) I will do one last post before the month is out to sum it all up and reward the dapper and punish the jackasses. I will continue to be a member here (who could miss the random future firings at WCBS?) and who knows-maybe I’ll go after the National news boys on one of the main boards or do some work with the guys at CNN, MSNBC and FOX News from time to time. But, alas…I will have no further access to these gentlemen in fine wool (or polyester) here in America’s #1 news market. Who knows…maybe someone will pick up the torch…SuitSnob could be like The Dread Pirate Roberts… Love and Kisses, SuitSnob Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/405-male-fashion-disasters/page/13/#findComment-28811 Share on other sites
