RE: that 2016 open in there that is inspired by the spinning world 80s and statue of liberty mid 80s opens - happened to run into Lester and his wife on the street and told him kudos to whomever did that work - it was really classy, approachable, identifiable work.

He was appreciative and liked it too. Wish the open lasted longer.

idk who opted for it to be replaced by the current 5 second trash intro.

And here's the rest of the newscast from that same day.

WCCO 4 News at 5:00 story on the passing of Mrs. Minnesota, Mary Kay Sanders (February 3, 1998)

Probably posted already but this is the one of the earliest WNBC newscasts I've ever seen online. Eastern Airlines crash & more local news from 1975. Featuring Churck Scaborough, Tom Snyder & Dr. Frank Field

Earliest NYC newscast I've seen overall. WCBS (1965) featuring Robert Trout.

CNN Headline News from September 22, 1985 (joined in progress):

A 90-minute block of CNN HN from April 20, 1988 (not 1985, as the video title incorrectly indicates):

CNN HN w/Lynne Russell from Dec. 29, 1992:

CNN HN joined in progress, with the top story being Michael Jordan's first retirement from the NBA on Oct. 30, 1993:

WJBF NewsChannel 6 at 11:00 topicals and open (January 8, 1995)

WABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News Late Edition (March 24, 1991)

WNBC News 4 New York at 11:00 (May 11, 1992)

That Jay Scott has a great announcer's voice! Rolanda Watts great as always, wish she would have became a bigger newscaster outside of the talk show.

WNBC was really graphically solid during the early 1990s.

KNSD 7/39 Eyewitness News? 1989

Apparently this open continued to be used to open a rebroadcast, because KNSD was using News San Diego and Groove News by this point.
