  2. Any thought of having Liz, David, and Sandra each anchor two shows between Noon, 4pm, and 6pm? Essentially Sandra would be adding airtime. I think keeping Joe where he’s at currently makes most sense. Is Mike in contention? I think longterm the goal should be two anchor teams. One at Noon/5pm, the other at 4pm/6pm/11pm.
  3. MTV is a dead brand in its current form since music videos are all over the internet and so many FAST channels do it way better.
  4. Today
  5. My longshot pick is NBCU getting together with Universal Music
  6. it doesn't need to happen. The better Fox local pairing that I could see for a national talk show would be Alex Holley and Mike Jerrick on Good Day Philadelphia.
  7. Was just coming here to ask about this, and found that you noticed it too. From a cost-effective/practicality standpoint it makes sense to fully simulcast instead of two separate news operations in one newsroom and requiring reporters to do separate live hits for two separate stations. Unfortunately that would result in the layoffs of producers and possibly anchors. If they ever fully unify, GCN would join their Florida at First Coast News and Action News Jax in unified news operations.
  8. Now more than ever, there's pressure for anchors to do more. The days of anchors showing up at 4:15 to read the news at 5 and 6, take a three hour dinner break, and then come back for the 10 are over. It's just not sustainable anymore for stations to pay anchors elevated salaries only to have them on air at an anchor desk for 2-3 hours a day. But I don't think the answer always has to be a feature pkg. Some stations are having anchors do podcasts or streaming shows in between newscasts.
  9. Respectfully, instead of dumping on said opinions, which ones do you disagree with? Personally, I feel like the "truth" is somewhere between the two strongest takes given, upthread.
  10. This topic had me thinking of legendary South Florida newslady Ann Bishop (1930-97) and she spoke openly about experiences of working in TV news as a reporter and anchor, and loved doing both, and below are links to videos from 1985 interview she did that I found informative, and maybe could be relevant and shed some light... Bishop was old school and from the Appointment Television era.
  11. Not when they’re uninformed…
  12. ??? People are allowed to have their own opinions
  13. A lot of shit takes in this thread… maybe an admin can lock it…

  15. Ahhh. I see what they did. They're using a South Florida-generic website to cover both WSFL (The Spot - South Florida 39) AND WHDT (The Spot - South Florida 9). If you go to Where to Watch, it covers both stations but uses a generic The Spot - South Florida logo without the channel numbers. Now, we'll wait to see if "KDF-TV" will do the same or not.
  16. Spoke too soon for WHDT
  17. This week, it appears to mostly be repeats of Ridiculousness, The Big Bang Theory, and The Office. So it's Comedy Central with a shorter name.
  18. Yesterday
  19. Despite having 50 mostly useless cable channels already? WTF is MTV about these days?
  20. News regarding The Spot... Scripps has launched a new nationwide website for its Independent brand. This comes as WNPX launched on time as The Spot - Nashville 28 today, pushing ION to WTVF 5.2. Also, WMYD has rebranded as The Spot - Detroit 20, and even WSFL has rebranded as The Spot - South Florida. This leaves "KDF-TV" out of Corpus Christi and WHDT in WPB as the last two that have yet to adopt The Spot branding.
  21. WHIO NewsCenter 7 at Noon (September 11, 1987) KWQC TV6 News at Ten (November 26, 1993) WPBN/WTOM NewsWatch at 11:00 (November 18, 1987) WHBF 4 News Tonight (March 25, 1987; rebroadcast)
  22. Former WJZ-13 reporter and weekend sports anchor Stan Saunders died Friday at the age of 72. Former WJZ reporter, weekend sports anchor Stan Saunders dies at 72 - CBS Baltimore
  23. Please, I'm already worried the Ellisons might start eying Versant after they finish absorbing WBD and destroying CNN.
  24. I saw Kiyana Lewis filling in for Ari on FOX Weather At Night on Wed which was good than just air Park'd which they aired on Thur as they didn't air FOX Weather At Night.
  25. I did see Melissa Contanzer last Mon & Fri filling in for Geoff guessing she is just doing fill in for ACCUWeather since one of the Mets just had a baby couple of weeks ago, isn't coming back until sometime in mid or late Aug. As Anna is doing the morning show, which I only watch a few minutes to get see Anna.
  26. I really doubt that Carr and those on the Commish on The FCC read the comments there going to do what they're going to do no matter what in my opinion. I get it for those that are passionate about it want to be on the record more power to those that do it. This goes to the court The FCC will lose.
  27. Not surprised I saw it coming when they split the cable channels last year.
