  1. I'm a bit surprised they would launch it without a station in every market...they don't have one in South Bend.

  5. Will be interesting to see how long Sinclair sticks with Boris Badenov when this probe inevitably escalates.

  6. I'm kind of surprised that Nexstar doesn't have a Ohio bureau in Columbus. Granted, they don't have a station in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, or Lima. However, they don't have a station in every market in Texas and Austin is still getting a bureau.

  9. The 4/4:30P was to be split between Dick and Lauren, but at some point, they decided to just hand it all over to Dick (unofficially of course..), leaving Lauren to solo anchor weekends (which likely played a part in her deciding to leave WMAQ). When Kim left the weekend morning shift, Susan, Michelle, Lauren P. and Emily were expected to fill in until a replacement was named. Emily went on maternity leave and was never given the chance to fill-in once she came back. In fact, I don't think they gave her the chance to work with Anthony before she even went on maternity leave. I say this to say that their indecisiveness, for whatever reason, does more harm than good oftentimes.

  10. WTLV fined for using EAS tones in a station promotion for multiple days. Featuring FTVLive, here's the link Scott Jones provided. http://jacksonville.com/metro/business/2017-05-30/jacksonville-s-wtlv-tv-12-owner-fined-use-emergency-alert-tones-jaguars After watching the promo, wow. How stupid could you be to think this was a good idea?

  12. There was a pretty big screw up of the first repeat of the Wednesday June 15 episode The Rachel Maddow show. Apparently the repeat that went out at 12AM ET Thursday/ 9PM PT Wednesday aired the wrong A block. According to TVNewser it appeared that they played out the episode from May 15. Apparently master control immediately noticed the mistake but waited for the first break in the program to fix it..

  15. My gripe is this. Shouldn't stations be doing this kind of stuff on a regular basis, instead of just doing it on the day of the company's founding? I feel they're doing this on a corporate mandate, instead of doing it just for the sake of helping their communities. The Corp bullshit answer is: "We (Hackstar) help the community EVERYDAY of the year Mr.Circleseven...so we take great offense to your accusations of our laziness"..... Once a year is "a regular basis"...according to Crapstar. This event of goodwill cost the corperation NOTHING to put on. I bet even the free t-shirts were donated. Employee time...donated...food...donated...air time...donated...water...tap...phone...tap...tap-tap-tap---sos. The employees are the ones who really deserve the thanks. They are the pawns in the whole thing, ,,,but they volunteer and feel good doing so. (win-win). The company does the absolute minimum to satisfy "Community Service" whatever the hell the FCC defines that as.

  19. Don't be surprised if they start pushing Kim and Steve out completely . They pushed Itica out, and they bumped Kim off the 5 pm in favor of Lindsay Peña. Seems like the kitty cat loving ND is very fond of these young pretty faces. And I still can't see what the hell she sees in Ariel "garfield the cat" Wessler and Anne "lisp" State. They literally put me to sleep the few times I've tuned in.

  20. They're doing it again. The 2nd year of Founder's Day of Caring with an even expanded footprint from the last one. My gripe is this. Shouldn't stations be doing this kind of stuff on a regular basis, instead of just doing it on the day of the company's founding? I feel they're doing this on a corporate mandate, instead of doing it just for the sake of helping their communities.

  21. Tonight will be the final First Forecast for WWJ-TV chief meteorologist Jim Madaus. He is retiring after 33 years in Detroit television. He may have worked for a joke of a station, but he is without a doubt one of the best in the business. Wishing Jim all the best in retirement.

  23. KLTV 1985 really sounds like something from Dallas. Not sure who though. TM? VTS (who recorded their music in Dallas)? That KLTV 1985 clip is certainly an interesting mix. You also have Bill Meeks' "Spirit of Oklahoma" from KWTV on the IDs (no relation to the KOTV "Spirit of Oklahoma"). And the animation looks very similar to WFAA's "Spirit of Texas" ID animations (though whether it's the same production house, I have no idea). I also wonder if KLTV is related to the mystery music KXAS used for news tease IDs in 1983. I've seen IDs both saying "5 Action News" and "5 News", but no actual newscast footage from '83 has yet surfaced. That music is too short for me to make a judgment, but it is one of the first things I think of when I hear KLTV 1985 (it has an almost identical 3-note statement at one point). Of course, the first thing I think of when I hear KLTV 1985 is News '80s, which it resembles (but definitely isn't).

  24. Funny, WMAQ was having severe playback issues at the end of their 5pm show yesterday. The final two segments ended in black screen with flickering graphics. Not a good day for Chicago News tech.
