1. I highly doubt that Sinclair will pick up either Hannity or O'Reilly. These guys have egos the size of Jupiter and will demand a salary to match that ego. There is no way Sinclair's penny pinching bosses will shell out that kind of money for these two. They'll just turn WGN America into a rerun heavy channel with programming acquired on the cheap.

2. On the contrary, they should give him a female sidekick!

3. OANN can't afford any of those guys. OANN can't even pay for 2ply toilet paper. Sinclair wants this deal in the bag, but you also have to ask how much are they willing to spend on the continuation of a specific agenda? Would it be worth it to them in the long run? We all see how stuff can flip and backfire in a second.

4. TVNT's very own @alaskanews is leaving Scripps and his role as National Correspondent for The Now this Friday. It was always a little enjoyable to see him on WTMJ after knowing him on here for so many years. Best of luck in whatever you do next, Todd!

6. How does Sinclair "die?" It can't. It won't. You and I all know that dirty little secret. Even if a group manages to force all advertisers to boycott from any and all Sinclair news programming indefinitely, Sinclair would fill the airtime with political ads, especially in battleground states. They'll have their cult to further brainwash the John Q. Bumpkins of the world, and be an imposing terminal cancer on this country, like Fox News and talk radio were.

7. Has anyone found the commercial breaks during Today to be very lengthy? I turned on my TV and changed the channel to NBC at 7:38 AM. They were on commercial. It wasn't until 7:42 AM when the show finally returned from commercial break. Then at 7:44 AM they go right back to break, which lasts another 4 minutes until 7:48 AM. In a span of 10 minutes, that's 8 minutes of commercials vs. 2 minutes of "regular programming". But wait, it gets WORSE... They come back from break at 7:48 AM, go to the "Orange Room", then at 7:50, guess what? ANOTHER commercial break! This one lasts at least 5 minutes, all the way to the local news insert! WHAT THE HELL!!??!?!?!?!? Over the course of 17 minutes, that's 13 minutes of commercials vs 4 minutes of actual Today show programming. For a major broadcast network (NBC) that's available for free OTA, this is absolutely unacceptable. It's a surefire way to lose viewers and ratings. Also, what is the "Orange Room", why is it called that, and what purpose does it serve?

8. You assume that people in this country are only conservative Republicans or liberal Democrats. What about people who are neither? Are they capable of watching Oliver even though they're not liberal Democrats?
2 points
9. You really think Republicans watch John Oliver? Please. They've been spoonfed by the usual suspects, namely Fox News, Rush and Lumpy, etc., to disregard anything he says - or anything said by his contemporaries - as "fake news." Oliver only has one specific audience, and that's liberal Democrats. Sad, but true.

11. I liked what little bit I saw, but I hate the overly animated/distorted graphics. It's hard to explain, but some of the graphic elements are very distracting because they are constantly moving/flashing. You have to watch to understand what I mean.

12. I know that WDIV used a certain cut of First News for the Newsbeat at 5 from 1989-90 to 2002 (Local First News at 5 for 2000-2002), but did any other station use that same cut at all? For reference, here's an open from the Newsbeat at 5 from 1990:

13. Don't even start with the confusion that is syndication with 'regular people'. It doesn't help that in most places Ellen usually airs on an NBC affiliate, so they think it's produced by the network, while everyone will think the Sony game shows are from ABC themselves. Just this week TVNewser ran with a faulty story that 20th Television's weeknight RightThisMinute ripoff will be hosted by Billy Bush (it isn't) and even they were saying it was being produced for the Fox network when it very clearly isn't. And then there was a few years ago when the local conservative talk radio station with the same calls was forcing the TV station that hasn't done a thing with them for 20 years ago having to state over and over that they have nothing to do with the radio station and were completely neutral to the issue being pushed through the state capitol. Times like those are where I wish the 'you break up, one of you gets new calls' rule was still in place.

15. Anyone remember "Later Today?" That show aired at 9am, That show had a live audience. I love Jodi Applegate and the late Florence Henderson, but do you remember how it turned out? Not looking good for Megyn already.

18. Agreed. Terrorism is not nonsense, Boris is. Sinclair needs to die as a company and more.

19. Those people don't hold any positions of relevant power. The Republican rank-and-file purged all of their moderate legislators seven years ago in the latest of multiple purity waves buoyed by Fox News and talk radio rhetoric.

21. First of all. I've never seen a worst teleprompter reader in my life. No wonder this man never became Press Secretary. I hear that Sean Spicer is available to replace Boris and he'd be welcomed to. Terrorism is nonsense. Terrorism is an emotion. It's like having a news desk for Happiness. But when have you seen profit made in the aftermath of happiness? This is fear-mongering to get people to misplace their judgement and get an advantage. Truly these are attacks and it wouldn't sound as good if they noted every mass shooting that has happened versus perpetrated by certain minorities.

23. That already exists. It's called RT (Russia Today), which gets just as much criticism here by some in the corporate media - if not more - as Al Jazeera (aka the "terrorist news network" as people call it).

25. One of the rarest markets on YT: Wausau, Wisconsin! A chunk of WJFW from 1992... Yes, that's the WVII theme. WVII and WJFW were co-owned by Seaway Communications at this time (and are still sister stations). Also...this KBCI 30th anniversary (!) special from 1986. The description says 1983 but there is a background clip using News 88 (yeah, not 1983) and several "33 Years" bumpers at the end. Any 60fps video is worth posting:

26. You know what? At this point, I'm tired of coming back to political tv threads just to be branded as insane! Well as Apple once said, here's to the crazy ones bitches!!! But seriously, it's easy to say that sinclair is acting like a bully and a baby to the critics, but once you get called insane so many times, ignoring that shit just makes it even worse!!! And I never thought I'd have the displeasure of saying this but, Sinclair has to grow. Every fucking station group does nowadays thanks to digital media (including Youtube and Netflix)! And sinclair has balls that most other station groups dont have. Trust me, I dont like that station group either, but they're a necessary evil if we want to win this culture war against modern day leftists (especially against Antifa). Actually, I take that sentence back. Sinclair isn't that neccessary anymore with local tv slowly but surely dying off and the viewers that are still watching slowly dying off with it. And besides, I wouldn't be caught dead with Bill O'Riley anywhere with me anyway. No. Instead, the Youtube skeptic community such as Sargon of Akkad, James Allsup, and Lauren Southern, are quite possibly our last hope in winning this culture war. Look, I dont try to hide my biases like the media often does, and sometimes even sinclair in painfully obvious ways. In fact, by now since I said it far too many times, it should be clear what my biases are and there really is no such thing as truly unbiased journalism despite what people think. Again, people will more that likely think I'm a fucking wacko but, here's to the fucking wackos shitheads!!! Sorry, I sort of got carried away here, but my points still stand.

27. Today starts the week of farewells as Lee Jordan and Leon Bibb are both retiring from WEWS after Friday and next Monday. They will be missed from the station after they step down. Leon I saw plans to continue with his Sunday morning show and do some commentaries. 28. I, too, have my doubts WGN America would ever actually turn into a conservative network. Though I'm sure Sinclair could find a place to put Bill O, whether as a more telegenic commentator in the must runs or in his own show in a sleepy timeslot back to back with Sheryl Atkisson — or perhaps even daily! Bill O got his start doing, more or less, commentary on local TV, so this seems to be the most likely place for him. No way he'd go to scrappy channels like OANN or even NewsMax. They are the Big Lots of cable news/talk channels.

30. But...part of that break has O&Os and affiliates doing short updates and local commercials before GMA (along with Today and CTM) continue on. Breaks not including those feature short weather hits and coming up teasers. I honestly thought everyone knew this (even if/when the content changed with the times).

31. There's this crazed obsession that the content of the morning shows is what's driving away viewers. However, I really believe that people are turned off by the constant commercial breaks. For GMA after the first 20 minutes of the program, they take a 10 minute break. Then another 8 minute break at 7:50. The show itself ends at about 8:55 to allow for another 5 minutes of advertising. The content isn't good enough on any of those shows to warrant sitting through an hour of commercials.
