Or, have watched any NBC News Special Report since "The Mission/The Pulse of Events" began being used by the network 33 years ago, depending on how old he is.5 points

Good lord people can be stupid. But Kyle Clark hit the nail on the head with that one and handled it better than I ever could.5 points

Has there been any indication as to whether this will be a live show, or recorded in the morning and then aired in the afternoon?3 points

If WBNX fails, it would be one of the most visible TV station failures of our time. Usually there's a buyer waiting in the wings.. in case that happens, they usually light up some form of (worthless) programming. There's no record of foreclosure or a sherriff sale, but recent events paint a picture that the station (and ministry) defaulted on a loan took out 5 years ago.3 points

If they do move it to the 9am hour, it'll most likely not occur until sometime next year at the earliest, otherwise, 1pm ET is alright until ABC figures out whether to give the 1pm ET/12pm CT slot back to its local affiliates or put The View in the 1pm ET/12pm CT slot2 points

Page Six TV aired. Don't think WNYW got the memo that they are starting a Noon newscast.2 points

I just hope you hate the really bad ones like everyone else..... Clips of the LA TV channels after the Northridge Earthquake (the first 14 min are from a camcorder recording a portable TV): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qyc9sCBegXs Believe it or not, this is my 300th post on this site!2 points

Funny you mention that! https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nexstar-m-a-apolloglobal-exclusive/exclusive-apollo-approaches-tv-stations-owner-nexstar-about-acquisition-sources-idUSKBN1K120L I'm getting some bad Toys R Us vibes from this...2 points

They do that in smaller markets. I feel like the responsibility of a top 3 market is to run a late newscast no matter how late it is. If you have to send one of the two anchors home or use substitutions for anchors or the other roles as necessary, you still want to put on a live late newscast if you're a top 3 market.2 points

I screen-recorded them off of these NewsActive3 compilations: Also I’m not done with Colorado Springs yet: This aired 2005? 2006? Definitely was their last package using Broadcast News.2 points

Didn’t you say leave WBNX’s fate for the speculatron?! Any way WBNX gets bought by Fox (as someone said earlier) and becomes Fox 8 Plus with MNTV programming?2 points

Methinks WBNX is dunzo. The latest revelation that the buildings WBNX and the ministry have been foreclosed on means the end is near and CBS cut a deal with WUAB post haste. (Moved my thoughts to the speculatron)2 points

Children, children now now now. KOCO has been in third place, but during a decade ago when Oprah was on at 5,6, it did really well. There been sometime where it was very competitive. As for KSTP it has been a revolving door. However it hasn't always been third. WCCO & KSTP use to fight it out. At one time in the 70s KSTP had a 50 share, and yes that was decades ago. However, the cracks at KSTP started in the 80s. Channel 11 was sold from MetroMedia to Gannett and Gannett poured alot of money and NBC was riding high. By the end of 80s into 90s. KSTP news moved into third place in all dayparts. KSTP has always had a great news product, but the faces changed daily due to Frank Magid consultants who were college friends with Stanley Hubbard [even friends you are still giving me bad advice IMO]. If you can go and read the stories about Stanely Hubbard. They're legendary! He had issues with Ron Magers, saying Ron was doing drugs and Stanely sent Ron to a rehab place. Stanely Hubbard had some of the female talent desk locked and chained. Even memebers of the station said Stanely is his own worst enemy. Then there was the Cyndy Brucato debacle. She was the face of the station in the early days, and research wasn't too kind. The consultants said she was too manly on the news, and she was outsted and then appeared on the new NEWS 11 W*USA but doing some light reporting. While Stanely Hubbard was being a terror over in Golden Valley, Gannett had a win-win team at now KARE 11. Paul Magers, picked up where his little brother was the king of the Twin Cities News for 20 years . Also Paul Magers worked at KSTP as a dispatcher when Ron was there. Stanely Hubbard rested on his laurels and the quote he said was "Nobody ever watch Channel 11, so we never took them serious, and thought who would watch their news." You can never rest on your competition and why didn't his best friend Frank Magid didn't tell him that or, maybe he did? The station has always invested in the tools, and throughout the 90s same old story faces come and go. They were able to get Colleen Needles from WCCO, but she left on her own. She has a production company that produce many reality shows that on cable now. Julie Nelson was able to move to from the morning to succeed Colleen to find herself getting a good deal from KARE 11 where she had to sit out for a year on her non compete. Harris Faulkner moved up to evening news and the ratings didn't move and she went over to WCCO now at FOX NEWS. Now with the pie so fragmented there been a few times where KSTP in early evening at #2 or #3. KMSP has step their game up, and despite Gannett/TEGNA woes KARE is not the break out star it once was, but it still solid. It hard to find ratings online but here some old ratings from both markets. http://www.b-roll.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-8449.html https://www.minnpost.com/braublog/2011/03/wcco-news-soars-february-tv-sweeps-while-kare-falls2 points

Sara Haines and Strahan are both equally annoying and so I guess they would be good together. Sara's voice just grinds my gears for some reason.1 point
-
Then my guess is (as MorningNews said) ABC will probably move the 3rd hour of GMA to 9am, send Live! to 10am and The View to 1pm (unless they want to pair the 3rd hour of GMA with The View) but in the interim it'll air in the 1pm ET slot1 point

True but the traffic reports are live. She does traffic. So she will in fact be exhausted1 point

Sara Haines & Michael Strahan will host the 3rd hour of GMA. https://deadline.com/2018/07/sara-haines-leaving-the-view-good-morning-america-third-hour-michael-strahan-abc-news-1202431143/1 point

Telemundo Contract Date: 07-22-2018 9:43 AM - Word Count: 192 Telemundo Contract SAG-AFTRA Approves Contracts For Telemundo; Non-Primetime Programming LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Screen Actors Guild's national board has unanimously approved its first-ever tentative agreement with Telemundo Television Studios covering Spanish-language television performers, union officials announced. The three-year agreement reached Saturday follows 15 months of negotiations. Under the contract, Telemundo talent will contribute to and participate in the SAG-AFTRA Health Plan and SAG-Producers Pension Plan for the first time. They will also receive residuals for foreign and domestic programming and streaming platforms, based on a percentage of Telemundo's gross receipts. Also for the first time, Telemundo performers will be guaranteed minimum salaries and annual increases. Telemundo is the largest employer of Spanish-language talent in the United States. It's new contract goes into effect immediately. In addition to the Spanish media pact, the SAG-AFTRA board also overwhelmingly approved a new network contract covering a wide range of non- primetime programs that air on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox networks. This includes soap operas, game shows, talk shows and quiz shows, as well as sports and variety shows. That tentative agreement must go to the union's full membership for final ratification. Given that Nexstar's management all the way down to the station level is one big good 'ol boys club, Uncle Perry standing by their GM isn't surprising.1 point

So, the people that bought KXJB now want to challenge the KCPM sale. Interesting turn of events.1 point

I got it from WBNX's website from their schedule page. (Go to Monday 7/16) The bold explains the new times for the shows.1 point

That's a long Speculatron post in the making too. And I see one difficult, but workable, possibility...which is a 180 of old rumors.1 point

It will be interesting to see if Nexstar is hostily acquired much like Media General was hostily acquired by Nexstar.... Given Nexstar's debt load, this could be a bigger disaster in the making....1 point

Reuters reports that Apollo Global Management has approached Nexstar about possibly acquiring the company, in conjunction with existing Nexstar stakeholder P2 Capital Partners. They note, though, that the confidential sources who informed them of the offer contend that "Nexstar has not yet engaged in sale talks and there is no certainty it will entertain an offer."1 point

WAGA newscast from January 31, 1999 (well it starts there and flows into the beginning of February 1) featuring coverage of the Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl XXXIII loss to the Denver Broncos. Worth noting is this also marked the debut of WAGA's new set. Also on the KTVK promos, nice to finally get to see the video clip of their "Count on Us" image campaign.1 point

I think WUAB carries MyNetworkTV from midnight to 2:00 a.m. now. And, yeah, you would think that there would be a two- to three-month leeway for the switch. The fact there was only five days notice that CW programming would be moving to WUAB is a little fishy.1 point
-
The only reason why WUAB gave up The WB was because of their contracts to run both Indians and Cavs games OTA, which reaked havoc on juggling two networks with (at the time) partial schedules. Neither of those exist now, and MyTV is so irrelevant that it can be cleared between 1am-3am and no one would know otherwise. But switching affiliations this coming Monday? The CW must know something about WBNX that we don’t if they made a switch this abrupt.1 point
-
Do you all feel the Stirr? I can feel it all the way in Surfridge. Like there needs to be more crap tv.1 point
-
A necessary bump to this thread. WBNX is losing its CW affiliation, and quite soon actually... WUAB will take over as Cleveland's CW affiliate starting July 16 (this coming Monday). The move will result in WUAB dropping its 9:00 p.m. newscast and re-extending its 10:00 p.m. news to a full hour.1 point

A KRDO open from 2007: These graphics would eventually take a 180-degree turn for better the following year. Edit: it appears that video is misdated, but I DID find this:1 point

A whole slew of reasons depending on many, many factors. Email your local newspaper editor and ask them. Maybe they think there is no local interest, maybe they don't have the people to do so, maybe the ratings services don't make the info available. Ask the source...ask the editors of the newspaper.1 point

Just found this classic HBO promo block. I think the “next on” bumper might be my favorite continuity announcement of all time. (Aside from some of the Kim Martin WGBS classics of course.)1 point
